You can't pick just one artist to be the queen of that time, so many started out big at similar times. Let's keep it to icons and legends... they're all queens and first ladies in their own respective ways.
100% country. She sings so effortlessly and beautiful.

I remember being at work in the hospital lab that day when we heard on the radio that Tammy had passed away. I was heart 💔 💔 💔 💔 💔 💔. I don't remember what year that was? I'm thinking around 1997 or am I confusing her with Conway Twitty? I had heard it on the radio at work that day too. I'm thinking they were both in the late 90's. I'll Google it and return here. Tammy passed in April of 1998 and Conway in June 1993. I didn't remember them being so young! I would have been 40 when Tammy passed away at the young age of 55 and, I would have been 35 when Conway passed. He was only 59. They were both gone way too soon. Fly high angels 😇 😇😢😢

A pure, unadulterated voice. Tammy remains one of the greatest icons in the history of Country Western music ever. The controlled power and range of her serene vocals and the way she delivered it during a song was amazing. Her timing was spot on. Emotionally she moved the listener to where one could feel and experience the sadness of her lyrics. Her timing and delivery were impeccable. As Billie Holiday and Etta James were to blues Tammy Wynette was to country music. She remains and always will be a precious treasure to music. An elegant and beautiful songstress. She turned heads and contributed so much to country music.

Hi there! I noticed that we're both fans of Tammy Wynette, and I thought it would be great to connect and discuss our shared love of their music. It's always fun to meet other people who appreciate the same things as you, and I think it would be great to have someone to talk to about their latest releases or concerts. If you're interested, I'd love to chat more and get to know each other. Let me know if you're up for it!
Tammy sings it like it is! Doesn’t matter if it was in the 60s or now! ❤
There nothing 2 say the voice say it all ❤❤❤❤rip Tammy 🌹🌹🌹🌹
Her voice is that of an angel! It's amazing how in one line of a song it can go from ordinarily great to awesome! She has a way of making the words come to life! Country music 🎶 🎵 at its best! I grew up in the 70's or I guess that's what you'd say.....born in 1958 so I was but a youngster in the 60's when she began her career. Oh how I wish we could, or at least I could, go back to the mid 70's!! I miss all those Country greats such as Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton.... just to name a couple. Loved Loretta and Conway together and Tammy and George. I guess one...or two of my favorite male vocalist would have to be Mel Tillis and Merle Haggard. How I miss those days!!

@gregnormal5101 Sorry, haven't been back here until today. Yes I'm a fan!!
Tammy I've always loved miss Tammy since the early 70's when I was a little boy, I could feel the strength and power in her voice. I could also feel the pain, which helped me thought mine. Everybody said it was sad, they didn't get it. It help me be happy.men ruled c@w at that time and women were there opening acts. Miss Tammy help change that because she was the first woman to sell a million records. With out miss Tammy there would be no carrie and reba who all want to be pop stars, not c@w stars. Miss Tammy was one of the best yet, and was happy being a c@w star that's all she wanted. And with out trying to be more she was a legend. RIP MISS TAMMY WYNETTE A TURE TO HER ROOTS STAR.

I'm not taken away from the legacy of Tammy, she was absolutely great! But the Ladies of C&W music, owe the place to 3 ladies. Kittie Wells, Patsy Kline & Loretta Lynn.

Hello Tommy, how are you doing today....I really love this song so much
The tear in her voice. Sublime
A truly grand singer, and a grand song.
Her voice is still the high standard of what country music used to be.
Aww this brings back memories of my mom. She loved Tammy. So much so she named me after her. Nothing like these songs today. Very heart touching ❤️
Tammy had a strong beautiful voice. She could sing best.
Legend ❤

yeah absolutely I’ve been married for 32years I was 24 and she was 20. She got cancer in 2020 I was totally lost without her. She took a major hit the treatment was horrible for her. I could do nothing to change any thing so I felt helpless.. I miss her everyday. Mothers are the glue that holds everyone together. seeing this makes me miss her even more I come to this page all the time just to have that nostalgia 🥺
I have loved Tammy Wynettes' voice/ singing since I was a little girl. My Mom would play her music all the time. Here I am 61 years old and I still love here music.

I hope you don't mind me writing to you personally. I am an Australian, and much older than you, but I loved good songs when I was your age, and I still do, which is how I found your comment. This song was on the radio back then. I wonder if you would consent to an email interview about your taste in music. If you at all worried, please use an adult as an intermediary. Best wishes. scanlon53@gmail.com
