What a great idea for the battery tray mod; I wish I had thought about that when I had my Beetle!😂 Excellent call as well on the lighter oil, you can really tell that it soaks up the bumps far better this way! Another job well done Steve!👍😊

Thanks HD, Yeah when I first ran the MB I had to find a real small 2s lipo to fit in it so the mod works like a charm and the shocks now so much better it's night and day it used to just hop along bouncing over the stuff now it's smooth as butter! LOL!!

@@ShenRC fine sanding and car wax all suspension joints does lots for these too, they get a lot of stress+twist on the rear swing arms especially

@@modelnutty6503 yeah the front is bad when you compress the front suspension if you push up on a front tire from the outside edge it cocks and binds the shock and suspension it binds the shock and don't let it compress... not the best of design.

Go for it! It runs so much smoother on the rough stuff now Mark it's a night and day difference it used to hop kind of like a lunch box but not anymore it's running like well you know a BEAUTY! LOL!! HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Great idea. I did that when I built mine last year. I used the white plastic bearings that came with it since I went with ball bearings. Suspension looks better with the lighter oil.

OMG Steve, I forgot about that spacer trick for the battery side holders, some old nimh packs back in the day needed that trick (was also shown in RCCA magazine under the Tips & Tricks column back in the 90's), glad to see it still can be used with todays lipo packs, AWESOME!!!! The lighter shock oil is also a great idea, most off road vehicles need lighter oil to get the suspension to work better. Old is New again, thanks for sharing this info with us. Yeah it was fun... those blackfoot trucks have super hard tires the MB tires probably make the chassis work better because they are much softer and absorb up stuff. don't know why they made the BF tires so hard it's weird? Thanks bro!

@@ShenRC yeah they are hard tires going to try lunchbox box tires I think they will be much softer and ordering the dog bone conversion the old cv axles are junk

Great ideas, Steve!! 👍👍 The ORV Suspension always bugged me (pun intended!) The Rear Shocks seem to love 10w. One trick I've always used on the Front Shocks (because the front end is pathetically LIGHT), is use Axial SCX-10 One Springs, the 0.92lb ones. Same length, and the front Wheels will move too!! 😉 Merry Christmas!! 🌲😊🙏

Thanks man it runs so much better, I find the front is just funky also if you push the wheel up from the bottom outside edge of the tire and the way they have the front suspension set up it kind of kinks the shock shaft in and makes it bind so it wont even get compressed up that's why the front don't work so good on this one. I just did this on my Blackfoot but I used different bushings. Also I bolted the under tray closed and use a side plate from a Blackfoot 3 that pivots the side plate for battery access. Also I can do the shock tuning because I have oil filled on my Blackfoot. Beauty run eh!

Looking really good! I'd also recommend, if you can afford it the the MIP ball diff upgrade - makes a huge difference.

That is a good upgrade but is pricy, so far mines doing good with just adding the traxxas 1985 washer on the bevel gear top to make the gears a bit tighter. We will see in the long run if it hold up. Thanks for watching😁👍

@@ShenRC big fender washers and JB-weld to side plates is just a couple bucks kept a buddy's Blackfoot gearbox solid.

I have to go get some lighter oil. I had a bottle but it leaked out from dropping the bottle and not noticing the bottom had cracked and it all leaked out over night... needless to say that work bench has a nice coating of oil soaked into it! I keep forgetting every time I go to the hobby shop! I like the battery mod, I will have to do that on a few of mine!

I know the lipo`s are hard cased but where the case is above open ground i would put thin cover on the pack face,keeps the pack nice.

He he would be neat a lipo explosion would be a sight to see ha.. Just kidding if it was in a lower style car like the frog or brat I think you could benefit from that but this is so high up off the ground I don't think it will be a problem in this model. 😁👍Thanks for watching.

cool mb shenrc, 10 weight? is this 100 in tamiya range. kyosho seems to be always clear. maybe try turning the on/off switch around. great fun run

Hi thanks, I used 10wt but I did get a tamiya kit with the red soft oil that looks pretty thin is this what you speaking of? I would try that tamiya soft red it looks pretty good a lot more thin than the yellow stock kit oil. 😁👍I did turn that switch around now it works great.

Hi I used 10wt shock oil. A 2300 should be nice i have that in my blitzer beetle but with the monster beetle the rear diff is known to break easy so i don't know about running 3s. I did put a traxxas 1085 washer on top of my bevel gear to move them closer together it's tight but now it's worn in after a few runs but no stripped diff yet.. you can sand a hair off this plastic washer first before you put one in to make it a hair looser of a fit. they do sell gearbox braces also to stop it from flexing and making the diff blow and Mip makes a ball diff..I went with the cheap washer so far so good. Do you have the same weight in the rear as you're doing the front?

Hi yes 10wt oil all around if you want to try 15wt use it in the rear only the front needs the light oil for sure.

I did the same on my monster Beetle since I didn't use the bushings (I installed sealed bearings instead) , did you paint yours? Cause mine are white!

Hobbywing 1060 I just leave my esc switches on so when you plug in the battery it turns the cars on. Thanks and hope this helps.

Hi I either leave it slid into the switch holder on the esc body or stick tape it some place close to the esc but always just leave all my esc's on so you don't have to worry about turning the switch on , Just turn radio on plug battery plugs together on car and your ready to run!@@SRG-HITMAN-11

Hi Brad it is 10wt but I think you can try 15wt also, I also found the tamiya red colored soft oil is really thin also that may work good too.
