@@ter8330 Yes! I just melted the tallow (ordered online) and mixed it with some olive oil that I also used for cooking and while it is still in its liquid form, I poured it into smaller containers (like empty face cream or makeup remover containers). I don't even measure the olive oil, I just use equal parts (half and half)... you can use more or less olive oil... depending on your preference =)

@@curiosity19 And you love the stuff on your face and body??? I am going to try it since I already buy some stuff from Fat Works. Last night I melted cupuacu and mango and added some oils in a small glass jar and put THAT jar in warm water. It melted and I did nothing. No whipping nothing and I just let it sit. I looked at it this morning, touched it... exactly like I like it! I will try the tallow though.. Thanks!

I have made two batches now based on your recipe and have been using my tallow moisturizer for a month and people are telling me that my skin looks amazing. I have noticed that it feels much softer and bonus, my heals that are notoriously hard are softening up and feeling much better. I have also been eating a carnivore diet for nearly eleven months so that is contributing to things getting better too, but, I absolutely credit this moisturizer with a lot of the positive change. My husband is using it now too. It feels so nice to be getting rid of chemical laden products in our lives, one by one. :)

Hi! I just made some of this whipped tallow butter from tallow I rendered last Fall, using your directions to render it. It’s really nice to have a natural product and I like the idea of utilizing what I once considered byproduct waste. Now I know better! I made a half batch, since I don’t know how long it will take me to use it up. My tallow is a bit soft, so I decided to use just half the amount of oil in the recipe. I added 1/2 ounce jojoba oil to 4 oz tallow. I’m glad I read the comments so I knew to freeze the tallow/oil after mixing them. After letting it come back to room temp, I whipped it and it’s a lovely consistency. I don’t have many essential oils but I came up with an unusual (to me, anyway) mix of rose EO and peppermint EO. The peppermint gives the rose a little fresh zing. I like it! Thank you so much for your videos and recipes! I am going to make tallow soap next.

Hello, Marisa! I left a comment on one of your videos before (forgot which one!) that I used your whipped tallow balm recipe to replace my body lotion and some face products. I'm not sure if I could attribute it to the tallow balm, but my acne has completely healed! I am also still using other active ingredients (tretinoin, AHA), so they may also have contributed, but once I run out of all the other products (basic moisturizer, toner, serums, etc.) I don't repurchase them. I am thinking that I could possibly use just tallow on my face in the future. Just thought I'd tell you that I am a big fan of tallow now as well, thanks to you!

I have hypothyroidism since I'm 10 yrs and my skin has always been dry and itchy, this recipe is a game changer for me, thanks for sharing, I Love your job

Hey, so I tried out the whipped version. I love it!! It is so smooth and moisturizing! Thank you for posting this video! I did change the oils a little: instead of only olive oil, i added sweet almond oil and argan oil along with the olive oil to measure the called for oil amount. My only question is, how long does it last at room temp? Should I refrigerate it?

Great! Yes, you can switch out the liquid oil for whatever kind you like. It is very shelf stable at room temp, and should be good for about a year, no refrigeration needed :)

I make this kind of balm with olive oil and deer tallow using the water method of rendering. It works great. I saw somewhere that someone ditched the liquid oil and made whipped spreadable tallow balm without anything except tallow. I can't find the source now but basically it was like they waited till there was beginning signs of the tallow solidifying but still liquid. They then put the mixer on whip and evenly whipped it while it was still liquid and that cooled it to a solid state but there was more ability to whip a lot of air into it so it was spreadable without olive oil. I came to your channel thinking you were doing that. Have you heard of that? or tried to do that? figured you might want to know that because tallow is cheaper than olive oil where I'm from and it sort of annoys me that I have to find another type of oil to make my balms work. I make a basic cracked heel cracked farm hands type of balm with lavender and usnea in it. It works great but it would be cool if somehow I could ditch the olive oil because I have access to loads of tallow for cheap

@@ReeliveluvBookClub I wish I could help but I just harvest white tail deer where I am and each deer has roughly 5 to 20 lbs of fat I can render. I also buy a half to a whole cow locally. Since people are phobic of eating a lot of animal fat a lot of the time they'll give you the fat for free because people value the muscle meat more so I can get it for free or up to 3 dollars a pound which is pretty good considering that a pint of good cooking beef tallow can be 10 bucks. I recommend you ask around or research your surrounding area for small farms that raise cows and/or look for butcher shops that actually do real butchery. Those are becoming less common nowadays but you can still find them in a lot of areas if you do some searching.

@@ReeliveluvBookClub one thing I meant to mention is that rendering is so much easier and faster if you grind the fat in a meat grinder. the extra surface area really speeds up the fat rendering out. if you find a butcher that is getting rid of a lot of fat for cheap a lot of the time they will be more than happy to run it thru their commercial grinder which saves you a step at home.
