Tales From Dale Earnhardt's 'Flying Aces' Glory Days And Where They Are Now | Dale Jr. Download

Спорт

Dale Earnhardt Jr. sits down with Chocolate Myers and Kirk Shelmerdine, both of whom were members of Dale Earnhardt’s legendary pit crew, ‘The Flying Aces,’ to swap stories and discuss the current state of NASCAR. The group reflects on the early years working on Dale Earnhardt’s team. They share stories of Chocolate’s persona on the team, the time the pit crew saved a stranded #3 car stuck on the race track, and why you had to let Dale Earnhardt win in a game of cards.
The group then discusses the current state of the sport and provides insight into what is in store for Richard Childress Racing's future. Chocolate also opens up about his recent health struggles and shares his perspective on staying positive through difficult days. Plus, Chocolate gives Dale Jr. a legendary gift that once belonged to his father.

My mom called one day and asked if I had heard of Chocolate Meyers. She assumed he was famous. I said I did and she told me he moved in their neighborhood. Got to meet him. Gave my wife and I a tour of his house and showed us all of the memorabilia from back in the day including Winston Cup trophies. Very nice man. Bigger fan now.

About a year ago a buddy and I were lucky enough to get a tour of the museum from Danny Lawerence and Mike Dillion. It was a privilege and an honor to experience the museum from legends at RCR and NASCAR as a whole. Going to the museum is like traveling back in time 30-50 years ago. If anyone wants to visit the museum I would recommend getting a tour from the people at RCR. The items in the museum are amazing but nothing will ever beat the experience of listening to stories from the people that lived it. Thank you for coming on the show Chocolate and Kurt.

What you and your dad have done for not only NASCAR but for the fans(including myself) is indescribable. For myself and my family when your dad passed it was the most heart-wrenching moment of our lives but, you grab the bull by the horns and made that heartache a little less harmful. This is a really special episode for those of us who around as fans back in the day. It was very much like a family reunion with we fans as extended family. The great thing about a family reminiscing its history together is the opportunity for those who once feuded with one another to laugh at the experiences both good and bad they shared in the past. Some of us were definitely not Earnhardt or RCR fans back in the day. Far from it but we are all NASCAR family and there is a special magic in looking back and remembering those times. With time we have all come to acknowledge and admire how special that 3 car, its driver and its crew actually were.

I was at the Winston where the pass in the grass happened. I was a Elliott fan. Dale won that race because Bill thought he was going to wreck when Dale got all 4 wheels back on the track. The difference between Dale and Elliott or Bodine was his naked desire to win. No one wanted to win more than Dale Sr.That was his super power

I grew up in the mountains of Colorado, we ranched, and my dad had semi trucks, that's all I know, I'm 58 this year, what strikes me, is the similarities between the two, hard, tough, never give up attitude, not to mention, whether your working on a race car, or a tractor, or a big truck, it's all the same, except, the fame of racing, it brings me back to growing up with these men, the world War two guys, they had a different philosophy on life, so all that being said listening to the story's, not just this show, but so many of your previous shows, it ties together, the ability to overcome, to win, the memory's made are something else, what makes this show so good to me anyway, is I could be sitting at the hoof and horn in Kremmling Co, in 1977, and here the same attitude towards life.... I love it, Dale, thank you.... My dad had a mechanic that worked for him, back in the late 70s, he left to go work in Nascar, I think around the yearly 80s, and I think he worked for Richard, his name is John libinsburger

..... And this is why I haven't watched a single race since he left us! There simply isn't anyone that can compare! This is another fantastic interview, Dale Jr.! I am listening to Dale Jr and I am remembering as he is talking about these moments. Never thought during these moments ± what was Junior thinking? Nobody on the planet was more impacted by the goings on than Jr. His perspective is always my favorite We all thought Dale had super human-like qualities. Can one truly grasp all the things? As big as Dale is. There's no way that he could've lived up to it! Dale Jr you are so tough on yourself,! You have earned your own place out of the shadows of Dale! Your own rightful spot! You are just as great! All the heroic images you have not only attained- you have done some of it better. To sort through all the ,"stuff" ( we cant imagine ) and turn out as you have .... shew, you be proud! I don't know of anyone that could do it, You're truly remarkable! So much respect for this table! All 3, a living light of the legendary Dale! He is so proud that you all are the people with his stories. Thanks so much for sharing those with us. Completely mesmerized! For the duration of this... all Of anything else-- turned off. These stories are gifts to us that love and miss #3! Each era has it's "back in our Day" stories. The generation before us being Vietnam veterans or back in WW2. We are the veterans of The Man in Black! The Great Intimidator, Mr. Goodwrench- #3 love him or hate him you respected him. If we weren't there we might not even believe it. Truly what legends are made of! I don't know about anyone else but we are blessed to have "survived" 😂❤the absolute best of "The good'ole ' Days" to date! I don't know if it is possible to get any better ... And I'm ok with that!🎉😂❤ Again, thanks for sharing! ❤❤❤

Junior this was definitely one of my favorites. I'm so glad you brought Kirk and Chocolate on together. It really brought back so many memories for me being a dedicated Earnhardt fan forever. The Flying Aces were definitely the best. I would love to have one of those t-shirts!!! I 100% agree with them, you have done so much for this sport, your mom and dad would be so proud of you, watching you grow up on the racetrack I am so proud of you!!!! Chocolate will definitely be in our thoughts and prayers. His attitude and positivity is absolutely awesome!!!!

WOW!! THIS WAS SO FANTASTIC AND THAT SWEET GESTURE AT THE END HAD ME BAWLING LIKE A BABY AND FOR THEM TO SAY THEY WERE PROUD OF YOU AND KNOW THAT YOUR PRECIOUS DADDY IS PROUD TOO. AND THEY'RE RIGHT YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED MORE THAN YOUR DADDY IN SOME RESPECTS🙏🏻🙏🏻I KNOW IF YOU HADN'T HAD TO RETIRE DUE TO THE CONCUSSIONS (PERHAPS IT WAS GOD'S PLAN FOR YOU TO GET OUT OF THE RACE CAR SO YOU COULD ACCOMPLISH ALL THE GREAT THINGS THAT YOU AND YOUR PRECIOUS FAMILY AND KELLEY AND HER PRECIOUS FAMILY HAVE BEEN BLESSED TO MAKE THIS SPORT BETTER IN SO MANY WAYS. I PERSONALLY AM ETERNALLY THANKFUL FOR YOU BRINGING NORTH WILKESBORO BACK. YOU LITERALLY JUST MENTIONED AN IDEA AND IT BECAME REALITY IN FAIRLY SHORT ORDER AND I DON'T KNOW OF ANYONE IN RACING THAT COULD HAVE ACCOMPLISHED THAT GREAT FEAT👍💞🤗💞🏁🏆🏁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💞🤗💞🏁🏆🏁MUCH LOVE AND PRAYERS FOR YOU ALL 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💞🤗💞
