Dale Jr and his podcasts are so important and essential to maintaining the right balance between NASCAR's historic roots and history and the state of the series in 2024. There is no one who does so with the same level of authority as he nor is there anyone who can speak to all generations of NASCAR fans the way he does.

I am going to write something very unpopular. Dale Sr had a huge impact on the sport of NASCAR. There is no doubting what all he has done. A legend! Dale Jr is even going to have a bigger impact with what he does as a media presence and historian and ambassador for the sport of NASCAR. What Dale Jr is doing is special and this cannot be done by just anyone. This is the talent of Dale Jr.

I totally agree with you. He's the bridge in the gap between old school racing and what's going on today. He's very nostalgic and cares about the past but also the future of the sport.

This is great. Petty fan since '74 10 years old when I first discovered NASCAR. The one with John Force is hilarious.

What most people can not comprehend , these Nascar teams traveled to tracks from coast to coast . This was well before the interstate highway system was completed as we know it today . Alot of that happened with a TOW BAR and a station wagon untill the 60s . After that it was a single axle ramp truck . One car and one team . Hours and hours of preperation and invention . Thru all of this Richard Petty became a household name , a great American hero . Its a blessing to hear Richard and Kyle recount those days . The 1979 Daytona 500 had a real rookie class including DaleEarnhart , TerryLabonte , HarryGant , Geoff Bodine , Joe Millikan , Gary Balough , Butch Mock and Paul.Fess . Thanks to the Dale Junior Download .

I met Richard Petty at a charity appearance at my local Food City this last year and I have to tell you, he still looks cooler than cool walking into a room. So stylish. He has such a cool relaxed vibe. He was so polite and approachable.

I met him when I was a kid in the early 90's at a Food City family race night. I grew up in Bristol TN and back then, when the race came to town those 2 times per year, it was a big deal. They would shut down State street and have the cup cars lined up for the crowd to see, the drivers near his respective car for meet and greet. My mother had a shirt signed by him and she still has that shirt.

This one is for sure long overdue. Wish Pearson was still living so we could see him and Richard together on a show. I lost interest in nascar years ago, but love the old races and drivers from before the modern era. Dale your best shows are always bringing the old timers on. I have always been a Richard Petty fan. Growing up in Denton NC in the 70’s everything was Richard Petty. I would listen to the races on the radio back then with my family. All my uncles were Richard Petty fan. We still pull for the 43. Thanks for all the memories King Richard.

Absolutely one of the best downloads ever. I began watching racing in the early 70's and Richard Petty was my driver. As time went by, Kyle began my driver, and now I enjoy hearing all of the history.

This was amazing. An Earnhardt and The Pettys sitting around chatting for an hour and a half? How could it get any better?!?

Dale is like a small child in a sweetshop when the Pettys start talking about all their junk. His eyes just light up lol. This episode, for a newer NASCAR fan (two years now, and English) was truly amazing. We are the same age, and I understand that nostalgic feeling when you hear about something you love. (For me it is history, just like these guys).

As a fan since 1977 and an active member of Nascar since 1987, this interview is simply nothing short of awesome!!! Loved it!!!!

Can you imagine how cool it would be if they watched those old races together but filmed it Mystery Science Theater style! I would pay to watch and listen to that.

The first time I met Richard Petty was at Pocono in 1986. It was on Saturday, during practice, as I recall. This was definitely toward the end of the "good old days". I had a hot pit pass, but no press credentials. I had two 35 mm cameras around my neck, so I looked like "the press", and no one ever challenged me or questioned me being ON pit road with the King. Yes, on pit road. Richard was sitting on the very end of the pit road wall, with his legs stretched out and he was talking to a crewmember. I waited patiently and all the sudden, I looked over and Richard looked up at me with his big smile. This was the only time in my life that I was STARSTRUCK. My hands were shaking as I handed him my program and a pen for an autograph and asked him, wou, would you, ppplease? It seemed like it took him 5 minutes to sign that beautiful piece of artwork and I'll never forget that day. He handed me back the pen and and program, I shook his hand and said thank you very much. He was warm and engaging and I was a nervous wreck. Such a cool experience.

Growing up, I was a Richard Petty fan, and when Kyle started racing, I’m about his age, I always wanted a chance to race against him…and see if I could beat him, because he was Richard’s son…glad they are doing these tours and celebrating 75 years of Petty Enterprises, and NASCAR!

Love seeing the King and Kyle on the show sharing old stories!!

That story Kyle told about he and A.J. Foyt is absolute gold. It's from 1983 1st Twin 125. "So you got that from your dad?" "Yeah." "Okay.'' "YaknowImean?"

There is an idea for Dirty Mo series or show! Watch a NASCAR classic race with The King and let him do the play by play! Pick his brain on what they were thinking back then! We are only here for a little while, so get this on film now!

Yeah I agree. Who knows how it would have played out but Adam was good and even if he wasn’t a great he was a nice kid that loved the sport and it would have been nice to have him around. Same with Ricky hendrick

I never get tired of listening to the king and I love watching his old races the man is incredible long live the king!

Completely wonderful show. Everyone is so open and relaxed. Kyle was at a little dinner in St Henry, Oh as the headliner to talk about his racing life and he was spectacular. Dale's show showed so much more about all the Pettys. One of your best!!

I truly appreciate Dale Jr asking about the father -son relationship for Kyle and The King. Dale's ability to inquire about feelings regardless. And to hear Kyle explain the "full circle" of being the son to not being a son to back to being the son to his daddy. I learned a lot about the Petty Enterprise and I am thankful that I got to see it on Dale's podcast. Thank you. Side note: back in the late '90's I got to experience The Richard Petty Driving Experience on the former Cloverleaf Horse Track (Greyhound Track) which eventually became a NASCAR racetrack in Fountain, Colorado; I grew up in Security/ Widefield!!

To say that this was Awesome is to only begin to talk about my value for this time. I have been a fan of NASCAR for as long as I can remember, since 1969 at least. I can still remember walking in front of a bank of televisions in the department store in Lincoln Nebraska. Seeing those cars going around that track so fast. The Petty family have been a fixture in NASCAR, and it wouldn't be the same without them. Thank you for doing this with them and for us.

Probably my favorite podcast thus far. Hoping to meet them on the Victory Junction Tour. Thank you, Junior, for your interest in the history of NASCAR.

I can watch/listen to all these guys every day.

Thanks for preserving the history of NASCAR for all of us. This was an priceless freeze frame for NASCAR fans. Those great racing names like Buddy Arrington and Joe Milliken and Jabe Thomas and Wendell Scott and Dave Marcus would likely be forgotten without the great service of Dale Jr.

Fantastic interview, loved hearing all those old stories. Did have to chuckle when you were talking about Kyle riding around Daytona with Richard, no belts, just a different time. When Dale mentioned riding in backseat of his moms car I had memories from my childhood riding in the back window of my parents car. Those old cars had huge flat deck behind rear seat. Just watching out the rear window. How things change. lol

Dang, man - I’ve appreciated so much in your show, but this right here is maybe my favorite. Of course, Richard is a literal national treasure, but I super hope you get Kyle back in more - he’s got a perspective that is fascinating and honest and has lived a life as close to Dale Jr.’s as any, really, having this icon of a father and grandfather precede him in racing. Just amazing and touching to see the three of y’all together talking. By the way, I don’t think I could possibly be more proud or excited if I was invited by Kyle Petty to come watch old NASCAR races with the King at his place. Please, please take him up on it!

You can tell when Jr asked the question if they’re closer now in the past 40 years, that hit home with him knowing that would’ve most likely been the same scenario with his dad now.

Thank you Dale. When I started following NASCAR I followed the King, then the Petty family. Back when cars were iconic, you knew the driver by number but more importantly by paint scheme. It’s a shame Adam didn’t live long enough to carry on the family name. Thank you for this interview. It brought back lots of memories, especially number 200 for the King and his good bye lap at Atlanta. I had the pleasure of meeting the king and Kyle at Thompson speedway when some of the cup drivers would come up north every summer after the Fire Cracker 400. The year I met Richard he wasn’t cleared to race due to an accident at the 400 with Tim Richmond and Tim raced the car for Richard at Thompson.

This is awesome. Hearing the King talk about doing autographs until everybody left made me remember being at the Chicago World of Wheels waiting in line for 3 hours to get an autograph from Senior. We were getting close, but the session was ending. I got disappointed thinking I wouldn't get to meet my hero. He stayed longer than expected and I got to get his autograph. Unfortunately, I was so nervous I couldn't even speak. It's still one of my prized possessions and memories.

I could sit and listen to Richard and Kyle all day long.

I love how they tested the cars...drive over the county line on the road and see if everything works. This brings back great memories of my childhood with Dad testing the same way on the Hwy in front of the shop/house. Love it....

Of all the people on this earth I have lived and admired, none could even hold a candle to King Richard. None. There is no equal. My earliest memories of The King were 5 yrs ol c, with an STP shirt on, peed my pants, strumming a guitar. I used to cry when he DIDNT win. I always wanted to own a Charger like he ran. I always wanted a hat like his. I cried when he retired. Richard was my first boyhood hero, and in every way he will always be that hero. Great podcast !!! I've listened to the whole thing 3 times so far.

Just feel So blessed to have Richard and Kyle still in the sport. To hear these stories. Dale you’re doing great things! I appreciate these stories and people you have on!

Feels like I'm sitting around the kitchen table, drinking coffee talking crap with a bunch of friends. Huge thanks to Kyle for making it happen. The only time in my life I was "star struck" was seeing Richard Petty in the garage at I think Atlanta we stood side by side under an overhand to get out of a rain shower. It was like seeing royalty. So great to see how well he's doing.

Dale, thank you for having Richard and Kyle on. I've been a racing fan damn near all of my 51 years of living . Like you, I have a passion for the history of this sport. You do a stand up job of bringing that history to the rest of us! Like Kyle and Richard, you have been around for so much of your life. I love that rather unique characteristic you all have. Richard was my driver from a young age, back when he was running those Dodge Chargers until he retired. I, like you, Richard, and Kyle enjoy the NASCAR racing classics too. Especially the ones from the 70's

Dale needs to spend a day at the shop in Level Cross. He loves NASCAR history and would no doubt enjoy it immensely. Particularly since his grandfather had been there.

I've been a Richard Petty fan my whole life and always heard about his autograph marathons, but until you see him do it you can't imagine what it's like. The first time I met him was in 2009 (Richard would have been 72 at that time) at the Richard Petty Fan Club convention. They say don't meet your heroes and I wasn't sure what to expect. At that convention my wife and I stood in line for autographs for over 5 hours and were nowhere near the back of the line. He sat under a tend on a barstool and signed every single autograph. Not only that, but he treated every single person like they were his best friend as much as was possible while keeping the line moving. He did actually take a a little more time with me because I had a photo of him and Pete Hamilton to sign. How I got the photo is a story of its own. He took a few minutes to tell us and everyone close enough to hear about how much Pete had meant to them back. Back then the Museum wasn't at the race shop, it was in Randleman. He would finish at the convention, then go to the Museum and sign for hours longer. A truly amazing man that understands more than anyone that the fans are what make the cars go around the track. Long live The King!

This was good to watch. My stepdad grew up with Kyle playing ball with him. The Petty family are great people. Hope yall get a nascar classic with The King doing the play by play it would be amazing to watch and hear from his point.

Beyond racing and NASCAR as a whole, what you are doing Junior by bringing wholesome content to the world is just so amazing. Some could say the good old days are gone especially with this polarizing world we all navigate daily!! However, it is just special some people are still grounded to their roots, like you all. Thank you for sharing always!!

I looked up to Richard Petty as a driver growing up in the late 60s and 70s. It's really great to see him now and get his perspective on the sport, family, and his life. He reminds me of my ex-father in law, another good man with a lot of wisdom and experience. We all need people like them in our lives. Kyle was always a favorite, about my age and living a life that my friends and I were inspired by. It didn't matter who my favorite driver was, I always rooted for Kyle when he was up front Really glad you had them on. Thanks

Firstly, Richard still looks and sounds incredible. Crazy how well he's doing in spite of all his body went through for so long ..exhausted, exhaust fumes...etc...kyle..so grounded. I'd love to ride the motorcycle ride with him someday. Lastly, I was a big kenny Irwin fan...I rooted for the underdog usually. That 42 bellsouth team was going to get good...and i was really, REALLY looking forward ro Adam as a cup driver...but I'll never truly comprehend the events in spring of 2000...Adam becomes the 1st 4th gen driver..days later Lee ( driver of the 42 petty car) passes. Adam passing in a terrible wreck in turn 3 at NH...then kenny loses his life weeks later in that same turn as Adam, driving the 42 car. Reminiscent of Neil and Dale Sr also passing in the same area of the same track..being best friends. Anyway, I hope I get to ride with kyle and the charity ride someday. That was such a great conversation. Thanks Dale, kyle, and the King.

I watch old NASCAR races every night too. I love seeing all the different makes and models. It was so much better back then.
