I met Jeff at the first race in New Hampshire in 93. Him and Ward were at the fans appreciation deal in Concord. Also won tickets to the race. Both him and his brother were so nice. Jeff gave my wife a hug and that was her favorite memory of the whole weekend.

I remember watching him and Kenseth battle at Texas and dover and I noticed in both races that jeff didn't have the best car but in the last 20 laps Jeff hounded Kenseth because Kenseth was sideways off the corner each lap and Jeff was driving it straight up off the bottom and won those races.......he outsmarted Kenseth on those days!!

Had the opportunity to meet Jeff and Kim when he drove for FILMAR. The small trucking company I worked for had a relationship with that team and my wife and I were in the pits multiple times. He, Kim, his father and Ward were all so nice. So much respect for them. Hey Kenny, had a chance to meet you also. Class act.

I was around Jeff back in the later 80's-90 as he transitioned from Late Models to the BGN. He is by far a class act gentleman, and competitor. His wife Kim, "exceptional" is not enough to describe her and her devotion to Jeff, and later their children. I'm fortunate to have spent time with this guy back in the day. His success then, as well as his leadership now is not a surprise. HOF'er!!

In the mid 90’s I was working at Ford Motor Sports. And one of my first jobs as a data collection specialist was setting up a data system in Burton’s car. I’m open track day. Where a magazine writer was invited to drive a real Roush short car for a magazine article It was so cool to work with Jeff Burton, and Buddy Parrott. That day is great. They made us feel completely comfortable. While invading their space.

Awesome interview! I love hearing these stories. Jeff was one of my favorites back in the day and still is. His Pespi 400 win on July 4th weekend in 2000 was the first NASCAR race I ever attended in person, a great memory. Kenny, you ought to try to get Ricky Rudd on the show sometime. He was on Dale Jr.'s show a couple years back, but never had the chance to talk about the origins of his team, the Tide ride, and the '97 Brickyard win. If you do, please ask him about the rumor that he had originally wanted to pursue a Formula 1 career (mentioned by the broadcasters during one of his Dover wins in the 1980s), as well as whether he's considered running SRX.

Jeff was my favorite driver back in the day. He didn't just ride around mid pack. He raced as far to the front as his car would allow and raced clean. It broke my heart to see him leave Roush, but I understand why he felt it had to happen. He would have been lightning in a bottle in the 28 car.

I think one of the biggest issues with having more big name drivers are the cars for each driver changes 5 or 6 times a years because of sponsorships. You used to be able to identify 1 driver with 1 car. For me it takes a few laps of every race to get the key drivers down of what cars they are driving. Is it red, white, green?

Jeff.. My 3 girls had horses growing up. My oldest has developed an app for horse show called Tack Box. I ran a dirt car. Then my 2 boys raced karts. Then quarter midgets. 2 very expensive deals... I have never gotten over Burton leaving your teammate whose initials are Mark Martin at the Daytona 500. You should have both finished 1 n 2. Your still a punk. All of us make sacrifices raising families. I would trade places with you guys... Making a living competing in a sport vs competing in the owning your own business..

I was never a fan of JB when he was racing. I'm not a fan of JB in the booth. I really have no idea how this guy was relevant before but I'm at a bigger loss for words now. Get rid of the last name and his son and nephew don't have rides. Anytime someone gets the nickname "mayor" all i can think of is Karen/Chad. Honestly, I'd get rid of every not named Rick, Steve, and Jr, for the NBC broadcast. Only booth/broadcast worse is the truck series. That loud mouth, blabering woman needs to go. Hell, Danica would be a huge improvement over her.
