I feel its an unwritten rule in the NASCAR community that you *DO NOT* talk bad about Mark Martin

Mark Martin is the man, drove like a gentleman, spoke like a scholar and made his dreams a reality. Hes still an inspiration to this day with how he takes car of his rv

Never won a championship, but still one of my favorite drivers of all time.

Guys that Valvoline #6 is such a sexy car. Beautiful T Bird.

NBR, are you going to make one on Alan kulwicki or Davey Allison because you made one on rusty his friends were mark and Alan, then you make this one and it mentions he is friends so i have been thinking. which one will you make next?

Side note: Mark also has the most career wins among drivers who never led or co-led the Cup Series in wins for a single season. Interestingly, the closest any driver has come to surpassing Mark’s record (40) in recent years is Kurt Busch (34).

Is it just me or is it amonous that the #2 would define his whole career from the very beginning?

Mark is such a legend! He was my 3rd favorite NASCAR driver of all-time and I got to see him win at Nee Hampshire in 2009 on TV when I was 8. Which would be his only win I saw as a kid… I even got to see his last ever NASCAR race at Homestead in 2013!

Mark had a chance to win one for his family, and faltered late. But he bounced back to dominate the next race. But then faltered in the next race... But he never gave up. Mark's 1998 season is the best example of what kind of driver Mark was. Just when it seemed he was down and out, he'd come back to remind the kids why HE'S Mark THE KID Martin. And even though he might not be able to go out and dominate every time, he always proved why you should NEVER count him out. Mark isn't a perennial runner up. He's the measuring stick of greatness. No matter where he was in his career you HAD to be better than him.

He lost that race at Michigan because the engine started to lose power. He had that race I watched it live. Was so disheartening to see him come up short.

Well done. Mark was my favorite driver since his first ASA days.

Man, I grew up with Mark being my favorite driver. I was kinda let down though when he went to Hendrics. I'm a Ford man. =) Oh yea, I had no Idea Mark actually ran the #4 Mclore car for a little. I like your videos, I've been a nascar fan ever since I was little (4 or 5), and when watching these videos I always find something in the video that I did not know. I just wanted to let you know that you're doing a really good job and I'm always looking forward to the next videos.

Sr was my guy, but as a kid I did get to see Mark race at my local track in ASA at Anderson Speedway which he won that year in 1986 and right behind him was the king of the short track Dick Trickle who would win the 1987 running where Kenny Wallace would finish 2nd

My favorite NASCAR driver of all time. Pure class. And I still often rock the Champion-brand Valvoline Mark Martin jacket with all the sponsors embroidered all over it...even if it has a few small holes in it after 30-plus years wearing it. And get many comments on it and admiring glances.

Marks engine builder in some of his 80s days was Don Kowalsky out of Lynchburg where I’m from. His motors have won countless national late model championships.

I remember the 1990 season well. The penalty Mark got for the spacer was ignorance on NASCAR'S part. It was early in the season, but still cost him the championship. Heartbreakers for sure.

Mark Martin is one of the very few retired drivers at his age. That on any given race track get behind the wheel and run a competitive top 5 to top 10. Mark Martin is proof you don't have to be a points champion to be considered a champion. Also any man that can drive a car advertising a pill that helps men that have erectile disfunction and do commercials. That's a hell of a man, lol. But seriously, he helped men's health by taking that sponsorship. He's actually a really great humble guy. I hope he's happy with his career and personal life. Hopefully, he's enjoying life after Nascar.

im not a big fan of fords and that leached into my rooting for nascar. so unfortinately i rooted against Mark most of his career... but my goodness what a legend... i hate it that i rooted against him because i really do like the guy. i even love looking at his old paint schemes because i thought they were great too... i really love his early 90's thunderbird. made just an iconic look. Mark recently talked with Dale Jr mainly about his early career... the 28 Havoline another ICONIC car... he got a call to drive it and turned it down... what a bummer... that would have made greatness too... its ironic that Yates and Roush ended up joining forces in later years. im still heart broken that he didnt win that Daytona 500... i scoff everytime i see that race... he was so close so many times in championships... what an incredible drive.

Mark Martin was my first favorite driver. He is one of the greatest of all time, and he did it by driving clean. Mark Martin never drove like it seems like you have to these days in nascar. Pushing people out of the way, using people up coming off a corner, throwing risky blocks, playing games on the restarts, and all around unsportsmanlike conduct exhibited by many in the current crop of top level drivers. But that’s what you get when you make the rules so tight every car pretty much drives the same.

FWIW, intake spacers don’t get welded to the hood. They are installed beneath the carburetor. Per NASCAR’s rule at the time, you could weld additional spacers to the intake manifold for more height/plenum volume, in addition to the 2 inch maximum allowable spacer that would slip over the carburetor mounting studs. In this case, while technically illegal, there was no performance gained as the engine doesn’t really care if the spacer is welded on or bolted on.

Relentless is a great way to describe his fans too. He never won a Daytona 500 and championship and couldn’t out point anybody to save his life. And his relentless fans SWEAR he is a goat. Like fuckin slapshoes lmao

Stock car is the word you’re looking for. It’s nothing personal and he no doubt much more accomplished than myself. With that being said, all he ever drove were lethargic stock cars. So many other untapped types of race cars out there but he stayed doing the same thing? Sure open wheel cars can be a bit spooky but man up. I always lump them into two groups. Stock car drivers and race car drivers. Some guys race anything , especially the really fast stuff . Race car drivers are guys like AJ Foyt, Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Kyle Larson, etc. Stock car drivers: Richard Petty ,*gasp* Dale Earnhardt, Mark Martin, etc. Most folks don’t grasp or agree? with this but I’ve personally seen so times when a stock cay guy just isn’t willing to take those risks. I get that.

I have always had to fix, when I went to hendricks, they fix it, what ateam.
