Kev you should design and have made a custom chassis with defusers and under Areo inbuilt not separate screw on parts inbuilt like the new supercars like 911 GT3 man a chassis made like that would surely allow much better speeds and downforce. Then you can start on having the wheels machined or printed in some fancy composite

The rubber tread would have to sit on the inside of a carbon or steel rim keeping it in place. I think it can be done but it takes some slim picking of compound and cutting wheels. The compound may need to be injected into the rim. Someone with patience could perhaps weave the right carcass and make it a mini car tyre.

Hey Kev, for painting the raminator. You will want to bead blast (or very lightly sand blast) everything first, then a good wipe down, followed with an aluminum specific etching primer than paint. Just painting the aluminum, it will all be peeling off in no time flat. If it's an option, Powder cost would be a much better choice

For the speed cars: most of the cars backflip when going fast because as the car speeds up it gets lighter until it gets to hovering and a little wind will flip them because of how light they get while they go fast. The track could be bumpy and all but what flips them upside down is mainly air pushing on the car while it hovers. You can also see that happen in drag cars and cars which go over 200 miles per hour.

Cars don't "get lighter" when they drive fast. You're implying that the car has less weight when it goes fast. That's physically impossible, unless it's burning fuel. The car gets more air under it as it goes faster, it doesn't magically "weigh less" Derp

In formula One Aerodynamics is everything, Maybe the tyres are falling to pieces because the wheels are not stable on the ground. At 200mph there is so much air the car has to push through you need good aerodynamics to keep the car balanced.

It seems the problem with the wheels on the sausage (and all speed cars) is the use of an additional glued-on 'tyre' surface - ie, foam, etc. Is there a way to avoid this weak link by doing away with a 'tyre' as such? So the wheel was just one solid material that incorporated a running surface?
