Taking Over the Role of ORLIN on Stargate (Dial the Gate)

Ойын-сауық

SINCE HIS APPEARANCE in the fifth season episode “Ascension,” Orlin was a something of a favorite among Stargate fans. Actor Sean Patrick Flanery delivered a memorable performance as an ascended being who follows Major Carter home from another world. For years after, fans hoped that the character might make another appearance.
When the right story came along to bring Orlin back, though, Flanery was not available. The writers came up with a brilliant story reason to recast the character, giving us a version of Orlin who now took the form of a child in order to help save the galaxy from the Ori.
Cast in the role was young phenom Cameron Bright, who had already made a name for himself in such films as “Birth” (opposite Nicole Kidman) and “The Butterfly Effect.” In this conversation with “Dial the Gate” Bright remembers being cast on the show, taking over a character who was already present in the show’s mythology, and which actor he hung out with in the sauna after hours!
This clip is from Dial the Gate's full-length, 100-minute conversation with Cameron. Watch the full interview here: • 222: Cameron Bright, "...

He got the role no audition due to at a young age playing a-lot of sci fi roles. I had a huge crush on him OMFG.

*One of my fave eps, he played it so well* 🤙🏽🤟🏽🤙🏽 He really captured the essence of what was required so well that some people confuse his portrayal as the awkward alien as "cringe" or "bad acting", when in fact that was a great portrayal of an ascended alien takin human form, not knowin/rememberin how one should behave with a woman, a child playin an awkward adult, great actin! 👏🏽👏🏽

On my 3rd rewatch and on this episode right now. Kid Orlins line reading is kinda stilted, but I guess that's explained by Orlins mental deterioration

Was that whole Richard Dean Thomas a joke or did he really not know his name?

Drinking game, take a shot everytime he says "you know". You'll probably die of liver failure before the video ends.

Orlin was one of the cringiest things in the whole show for me, and the whole falling in love with Carter thing was infinitely more cringe.

NGL, but IMHO his acting was absolutely ghastly. Most awkward cringe acting in the show by far. You can almost see it through the other cast members acting - as if they're like "yikes this kid can't act" behind their eyes. I know that isn't very nice to say but yeh, its just my opinion...
