Shooting This INTENSE P-90 Firefight (Dial the Gate)

Ойын-сауық

STARGATE SG-1’S FIFTH SEASON kicked off with the episode “Enemies,” which saw the team stranded in a distant galaxy and overrun by their two worst enemies: the System Lord Apophis and a swarm of Replicators. The episode climaxes with an incredible action sequence, as Jack, Sam, and Daniel rush through the corridors of a Goa’uld ship infested with Replicators.
In this clip from a longer conversation on “Dial the Gate,” the show’s armorer Rob Fournier remembers filming this sequence and the extra challenges it posed to the crew - including the sheer concussive force of firing so many blanks in the enclosed space of the sound stage. He also recalls the similarly confined quarters of the Russian submarine in Season 4’s “Small Victories,” and the “stupid gun” used by Teal’c in that episode.
This clip is from Dial the Gate's full-length, 85-minute conversation with Rob Fournier. Watch the full interview here: • 211: Rob Fournier Part...

those action scenes were nuts! I know the show has a lot of production people that have to come together when making a scene, but covering yourself in masks and armor must push it up a notch

I always wondered about the protective glasses worn in that episode with no explanation given. My mind decided that replicators must attack the eyes. 😆

It always made sense to me, if they knew they were going to be fighting indoors, they need eye protection in case of ricochets.

@@alimanski7941 But, not that i can recall specifically, but haven't they fired guns inside before without eyewear?

@@CrixusHeart yeah, for sure, but this seems more intentional? Like typically they go off somewhere without really any planning, and find themselves fighting in various settings (typically, suspiciously Canadian looking forests). When they fought the replicators (like on the sub) it was a much more deliberate specific operation

@@alimanski7941exactly. Plus in a combat situation you are going to have shrapnel and dust and dirt kicked up and bits of concrete knocked off walls and stuff like that. A ton of things can get in your eyes, and that is always bad in a combat situation.

Nah, they don’t attack the eyes. Most fire teams wear safety glasses when they know they’re going in to combat. There’s always a lot of crap flying around that can get in your eyes, and that’s just always bad when firing a machine gun

How were SG-1 never deafened by all this? Besides plot armour of course.

literally use earplugs all the time in universe. jack directly references them like 4 different episodes, carter twice. and jack, carter, and jackson can be seen putting them in, or just messing with them all the time. just gotta pay attention when watching for answers to questions like this...

Sorry for off topic, I really enjoy Sg-1, Atlantis and not so much of Universe, but do you know of any news of continue of Sg-1, or Atlantis if they are going back, and lastly, did Universe ever get back home or something, sorry again and thank you.

It was kind of nice to see them really Implement some real Firepower into some of these scenes were the P90s were always a great weapon there's so much more in the US inventory that was far more effective in many of the situations but you didn't see it or it had a very small cameo in all reality the SG teams were always outgunned and outnumbered it would only make sense that they would have some sort of light machine gun or high-capacity magazines to deal with so many threats

They sometimes do. Typically you’d have a squad of four with three riflemen and a machine gunner. In a couple episodes, like when they’re trying to capture the Kull Warrior, Tealc runs a 249, and in the Asherak episode with the rebel Jaffa and Tokra at the alpha site O’Neill runs a 240 bravo.

google small victories daily motion, timestamp 21 40, apparently it ended up as a 4sec sequence on a monitor. Insane effort for that.
