When done properly, he won't have time - this is such a quick and shock defence that the attacker won't realise whats happened

You're welcome. Not at all, I'm much better off having left. I'm now with ITF headquarters and also teach the Army & Special Forces - something I would never have been permitted to do!

But ive seen people faster than that who could just hit you or grapple you if you push both hands like that. Shouldnt one at least be at the bicep striking his pressure point?

I always thought ONE STEP Sparring was moronic. No one moves like this, blocks like this, strikes like this, attacks like this, and stands there with outstretched punches with other hand on hip in real life. It's a waste of time.

Of course, and neither do people begin fights by performing katas or tuls ... The purpose of all of these routines and syllabus is to teach the student how to generate power, move the body quickly, effectively, and to manipulate bodyweight of the opponent. I had the same view for quite some time to be perfectly honest, but after practicing them for 20 years alongside other training, I can see the benefit from them and they certainly have a place in training. Thx
