Table with epoxy resin inlay and matching lamp
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I transformed this ugly duckling table to a nice table with laid in pebbles. The piece of wood that I cut out, I turned into a lamp. I'm very satisfied with the set. In the process I learned a lot about how to handle epoxy.
I used 2 x 1,2 Watt 12 volt G4 LEDs and a 24 volts 'warm white' LED-strip. The power supply of the lamp is hidden in a special piece of wood I made for the lamp. The steel cables are used for powering the lamp. These steel cables are being sold in a hanging kit, I bought them from a local webshop, www.staalkabelstunter.com/bev...
I used 15 mm U-shaped aluminium strip. The video starts with the making of it, if you are just interested in the finished result, skip to 7:35.

Seriously. This was the ONLY time I EVER enjoyed the music in an instructional video. EVER! 1) It wasn't too loud. 2) The song wasn't obnoxious. 3) The music wasn't being played over someone speaking.
You've the right thing signing the table because it's an artwork.
i like the fact that you made this from an old table, which is effecient & also the hanging light made out of that scrap & thanks you took time to go out & show your lovely spring...Never been to Netherland but that was a good gesture...thank you
You are the Rembrandt of woodwork !!! Dutch details and strong design ....the old table was upcycled to grace Buckingham palace for sure !!! Thanks from England TB

I absolutely love this look .resin and wood are such a lovly combination well done
This video is more relaxing then a meditation video. Thank you for making and posting these videos. I'm loving all your creative projects. Looking forward to what you do next!
your easter egg is the happy face on the sea cow....black paint dabs, white pebble....very cool, that !
I'm a carpenter and that was such a cool idea. Many of my customers get rid of old furniture for new stuff after I remodel their houses so what a great idea this would be to reuse some of their old pieces to make new especially when they have sentimental value but they just don't match the new stuff. AWESOME! Thank you for sharing!
Some people are just mega talented. Like WOW!

agree, great choice for background music
The entire time i was watching your video, I was picturing my 3 year old granddaughters ballet class spinning around in their tutus performing the nutcracker for their Christmas Recital. I love your table! especially with the little girls dancing around it.
The past times where I've gotten sick brought pleasure than seeing somebody cutting unsymmetrical jagged a hole in the table and then fill it with epoxy and rocks
The table is so artsy, and the lamp is so cool. You did such a good job!
No homie... the LED strip looks perfect. To a child, it will look like a magic dust trail. You did an amazing job and i cannot wait to start my own wood working shop, thanks to the confidence your video has given me.

That's nice! Just do it! I found out, it's not about the place you have or the tools you have, it's only about the need you feel inside to create. Do it! 😊👍👍 I wish you all the best with it!
Bro!!! I love the way you work. Attention to detail. Not having the "that will do" attitude. Absolutely tremendous workmanship. I respect that. 👍
You had me at, "Brief Dutch Springtime". Well done all around.
The woodworking is solid, but I was most impressed by your artistry, something that I feel is being lost in a lot of modern videos that copycat one another. This was a unique idea which took a unique mind to generate. Well done, sir.

Beautiful work thanks for sharing
"Wait a minute! Dutch springtime!" Love it!
You did a wonderful job, you can compete with the beautiful Dutch scenery.
These epoxy tables and thing are so beautiful. Good job guys.
Good choice of music! Kept me watching/listening to the very end!
I like the LED light strip coming up through the pebbles. Very nice job. And greetings from Africa.
Love the table . The lamp,not so much . Awesome workmanship !
Overall, masterful craftsmanship, very unique approach on restoring an old coffee table, and good use of their resourcefulness in not wasting anything.
I liked the music, the other DIY channels are noisy. Amazing job
So very imaginative, beautiful and cool!!!! The LED lights look like a trail of hot golden coals spralled out in a line amoung the rocks, like after someone stepped in each place they left hot golden embers behind!! If you want more of a glow maybe try dropping the LEDs down by adding one more and placing back to back and then up against the underside center with the lights facing out sideways, and then adding a reflective surface around the edges of the underside of the rocked area, angled up towards the strips in center of table so the light will reflect off of the reflective surface an back up at the underside of the surface from edge to center. I think that will light the underside up like I think you were expecting and wanted!! Wonderful build, I subbed!!!

Great Project and Excellent craftsmanship. 💯✔️👍🏾
The classical music and the sound of tools running in the background, made me think of a psychopath having his way with a victim!!!! EeeKkk! I think I watch too many bad movies LOL but the table is beautiful Bravo

You can get a logo 3d printed, it just takes a bit of your time in sketchup, and if you design a bit on the backend where you can cut threads afterwards you can make a handle on it (by turning some wood) and there you go.

This was a masterpiece, the table and the video! WOW!
Table is lovely. Lamp is overkill and detracts from the table. Nice job though.

oh my! it is absolutely beautiful! every time i see something like this, i wish, i had the tools and the knowledge to try to do some of these things.
I was so intent on watching the video, I kept forgetting to read what was on the screen. Then when I did remember, and read the question, do you remember the piece that was cut out earlier... I nodded in agreement, and said out loud yeah, I remember. Nice work!

Same here. I thought "Is he going to show the LED light in the table?"... and there it was. The streak of light reminded me of lava. Of course, the lamp, which I hated, was in the way so, I couldn't get a proper look. Loved the table. Well done.

Jaw dropping beautiful final product.
Love the table, that was gorgeous when you finished...but the overhead lighting from the piece you cut out of the table has to go..no good...not attractive at all. Lighting under the table to shine up through the rocks in the table, now that would be breathtaking. But good work my friend, I saw how much time and work went into that entire job. Thank you for sharing.
@whollyman
7 жыл бұрын
I agree, the light overhead was trying to re-use the cut-out, but it does not work, esthetically. The resin lake bottom with pebbles is magical, and the shape is not noticed because the pebbles are so dramatic. Then you see the shape of the light and it destroys the magic of the table. Sorry!

It just bothers me on many different levels that the lamps shape is flipped. It should have just fitted right back in if you dropped it down.
@vynz0789

Kangsl is right! the lamp (or table) needs to be rotated 180 degrees! Look at the circles at the ends of the lamp: the right side has many circles while the left side has only one circle. Compare that pattern with the circles in the table and you'll see it's rotated!
@Onrust1

You're all off. As you can see somewhere in the beginning, to prevent the piece of falling (breaking) in, I screwed a beam on top of it. Because of those three screw holes, I couldn't use what used to be the top of the wood for the upside of the lamp. So I had to flip it over and use the bottom side as top. Therefore it now never 'fits' the table anymore, no matter how you turn it (yes, if you let the light shine UP! ..LOL :-). I guess that's how you learn. I should have never used the screws, I could have clamped the center wood. But back then I didn't know what to do with it anyway....

Well, I studied and graduated in construction, so that helped, but apart from that I'm really more or less self-made.. Learning by doing. It goes for this table too; before this I never did anything with epoxy resin. The bus gave me a creative way of thinking, and the lamp (see my other two videos) made me aware of that. Before that, I never considered myself to be very creative, as in being able to create things out of nothing. Yeah, so much to learn about yourself... and that on my age..! :-) Grüsse nach Deutschland zurück, nächstes mal ganz in Deutsch! ;-)

Nice! btw. at 6:40 the flat side on the base of the router is there for a reason... But it worked out anyway ;)
@timdouglass9831

It's actually easier to get an accurate cut with the round side. If you wobble on the straight side the bit moves away from your straightedge. If you wobble when on the round side the bit stays the same distance away. I have no idea what the makers are thinking when they put those flat sides on routers. Totally bad idea!
