To be honest, I think the bowties detract from the piece. The table itself looks like an island in the tropical ocean (dark blue epoxy would have really sealed the deal), so the cracks would have looked like natural channels of water. (Just my opinion)

It is a very good book for beginners as well as for those that are already into kzread.infoUgkxTNB_zFBSnTo_O1PqfVUwgi7ityw0JlKt A very good basic ebook to keep as a reference too. I like it and the way the subject matter is presented. It has humor and that helps with the reading.
When I look at the finished product it reminds me of an Atoll. I like how it came out with the black but I wonder what it could have looked like with a lighter blue epoxy in the middle and a darker blue on the outside.

Speaking as someone with a photography background, i agree with the others - you need better sales pictures...if you're aiming for a 5k price tag you'd be wise to spend a a little bit on getting the pictures taken professionally (or maybe work out a quid pro quo with a photographer who needs some woodwork doing)
Despite watching many other woodworking channels and hearing them reference your work, this is somehow my first experience with your videos. Love the discussions on project economics and design changes, but the epoxy slow jams…that was by far the best. 😆 I’m a new sub now. Can’t wait to go through the backlog.

I think the bowties draws attention. The cracks should have remained as was. But overall, a very high-end piece. I totally enjoyed your off-hand comments in between
I've always had the thought the base, legs, etc. of a table should be regarded in the same way a frame for a painting is. It can kill a painting or bring out the best in it. I liked the design for the original base but not the material used, that is the plywood. The second design choice seemed stolid to me and lacked the novelty and style that the top slab with epoxy had, which was very interesting but not overwhelming.
@ForceFreeTrainergirl06

I really love this table, however, although I agree that the ply wasn't the right material. I did prefer the colour and design of the original base..
You should have just filled the center and left it live edge with a very simple metal base and it would be a master piece. What made is beautiful and i hope you sell it. If it were live edge it would have been art. I really how you used the epoxy to make the smaller bowties now that was clever🎉
The smokey black is great! Love the fading into the depth effect!

Coool. Looks like a volcanic crater island. Easy sell. Take it to any number of ritzy locations like Seaside and Rosemary beach on the Florida panhandle just west of Panama City. @arthurised
Жыл бұрын
@Teresa Valliere. A nice idea BUT... This would not work so well because as you add each resin layer to the piece then the "tide line" where each layer finishes and the new one /colour (note British English spelling 🙂) starts would be quite noticeable, rather than a changing blend as I think you are implying. A practicle solution might be to use a different "grade" of resin which permits pours of up to 4 inches but this still would not give you the changing tint, rather being able to see further to the base of the table. However, this brings its own complications re overheating / curing problems!
I can’t help to think that pouring in two layers will leave a line between the two layers along the sides, as it’s very hard to match colors between pours, even when using a black tint. How did you avoid that situation or didn’t you?
@isansimpson2056

If you do the second pour when the first layer is still fairly soft and tacky you’re good to go.

Remove the color and glitter= higher end piece. Smart move. Love the smoked glass effect, although I think it may be a tad too dark. Love the Nakashima joints. New base does not distract from the focal point top piece. Well done.
Corners on a coffee table can do a lot of damage if you walk into it, dinning table are fine you can navigate them by hand in the dark but this piece in the dark? Definitely need back lighting

He will. People go gogogaga for a warped piece of wood filled with plastic. It's the ultimate 21st century fad. 10 years from now most of these tables will be yellowed, warped and thrown in the garbage.
Like many of your viewers, I enjoy your creativity, design ideas and execution. I may be in the minority, but when a successful craftsperson with over a half million followers and multiple sponsors complains about paying an extra $75 or even $1,000 dollars, it’s extremely off putting. And making this video about whether or not some overly entitled person pays you $5,000 for your pretty nice table, in my opinion is a poor choice. I hope in the future that you can be a bit more grateful for things and realize just how good you have it, and leave the complaining to those who really need to complain. The table is awesome, elegant and unique!!!
I appreciate your woodworking, technical, and design talent and consider your work grand. Given this, in my opinion, this was not on my list reflecting your best work. I am a tiler concentrating on upscale design and specialty projects, so I understand the process and the flexibility the process can, at times ,require. When I first saw your piece of wood and listened to your list of constraints regarding the piece, it occurred to me it might have been possible to have joined it with other pieces, perhaps a counter top or desk top. Your skill with fiber optics would be very intriguing in such a project. The base of the table was in my favorite wood and I appreciated the lack of glue fitting the pieces. I would like to have seen a drawing with the top edged in the walnut out of curiosity. The bow ties were distracting and for me I lost the visual flow in the work, which is very important for me. I would never be able to unsee them. Looking forward to seeing what your up to next.
