BANGKOK, THAILAND - Welcome to Bangkok! Today we’re going to Charcoal Tandoor Grill, an Indian restaurant that specializes in all food cooked in the tandoor oven. From kebabs, to dal, to the biggest naan I’ve ever seen - literally the size of the table or blanket - we’re going to feast on an amazing tandoori meal!
Charcoal Tandoor Grill - They have a great concept, focus on serving food, all food, cooked in the tandoor oven. And as Prerak the manager explained to me, the restaurant also has roots in rural areas of India where people living in villages would hunt for game, and then roast everything in a fire, sharing with the community. They also only use charcoal tandoor clay ovens, no gas fires, which I think makes a huge difference in the taste and quality of the food.
We ordered a huge mix of tandoori specialties including an entire leg of lamb, chicken kebabs, a tandoori lobster, dal Charcoal style, biryani, and finally the massive family sized naan.
The food was extraordinary, you could taste the thick layers of spices and marinades, and the layers of smokiness from the tandoor cooking process. What I love so much about tandoori food is that the fire is so hot, and so it scorches the outside, yet the insides of what you cook remains so juicy and tender. This was the case for everything we ate. Really outstanding and tasty food.
Next, we had one of their famous biryanis. To be honest I was blown away, the fragrance and fluffiness was out of control. The tenderness of the lamb just melted in your mouth. Highly recommended to go with your kebabs.
Finally, for dessert we had what they call “the tree of life,” a mango tree filled with mangoes that were shaped into mangoes, yet made from Indian alphonso mangoes and soy milk and froze. It was a perfect way to end this amazing Indian food meal in Bangkok.
NOTE: This video is not sponsored, I arranged to eat here and film a video because I had heard great things about their tandoori food and their giant naan. However, after I asked for the bill, they insisted that I not pay for our meal. That being said prices range from about 400 - 600 THB per dish, with the lamb and lobster being about 1,500 THB each.

What I love about Indian food is that even if you're not a meat eater, they do things to vegetables that make them beautiful and interesting and above all satisfying. This place is over the top. Thanks Mark and Ming.

@@johaygood588 Just to be clear, please note that I did not indicate that anyone who is Indian, is or isn't a vegan. I was using the aetherial you , meaning " one or anyone" not Indians particularly. I was meaning to indicate that Indian vegetable recipes are unusually interesting and tasty. English can be confusing.

Still, one has to acknowledge that 27% of 1.4 billion souls is a lot of vegetarians. More than in any other country. That's 369 million (or so), slightly more than the entire population of the US. Not to mention others that eat both. Any way you slice it, India is an impressive country even if misunderstood by some.

Let me clarify that proportion of vegans is small in India as compared to vegetarians. Almost all Indians consume dairy. Even the most strict vegetarian Jain community also consume dairy.

@@johaygood588 There are also Vaishnavs who are strict vegetarians and have been so for centuries, not just Jains. But you are right, people need to be more accepting of food choices (whether one eats meat or not) and not infringe on anyone's right.

@@johaygood588 dude sounds like you have inferiority complex. I've been to India and I loved the Hindu culture, the people and their food. Poverty exists everywhere. I think you don't have too much knowledge, you're probably a urban youth who's never seen the beauty of rural India. You only see them as poor.

just the limitations are religion which prohibits people in india from eating beef and pork but we are a democracy so we can eat but here comes the rich religious organisations who kill people on doing that and the current government is their indirect subsidiary so yes we can't eat or cook certain foods.

for anyone confused, The chef and staff are from Nepal that is a border country of India and has very fewer restrictions, so many Nepali's come down to India and work in restaurants. Since it became economically viable many of these talented Nepali's also moved to Thailand as they have similar features and the cultures are also pretty similar. That is why you have an "Asian" looking chef making Indian food in Thailand.
