This might be one of the most unique interpretations of this piece I’ve heard, the dynamics are not what is usually expected, but they work so well for him! There’s authenticity behind the playing and it carry’s him far.

He really did feel this piece, it's not personally my favorite rendition of this but I respect him for making it his own :)

Hm.. His playing is mysterious, his usage of dynamics is difficult to expect sometimes. I enjoy is immensly. Bravo

he has such magical touch that makes each note sound like caressing, such tone producing ability had to be based on very solid technical upbringing and a musical personality. his sound is regal

It's a joy to watch his hands and listen to what it produces. His playing is so effortless.

He is quite extraordinary. His interpretations have the flexibility that indicate a personal musical impulse which might not translate so well for competitions but it is hard for me not to think of him as not having a major career is he so desires, too many strengths to his skills.

I think he is the best pianist I have ever seen and I believe he is very successful. Such depth

Practicing this piece for 7 months.. My family literally hides in their own rooms 🤣 definitely makes me scared to practice. Maybe it's my own insecurities.. I wish I had the freedom this man has 🥺💕

Absolutely beautiful! Although not getting a place in the competition, but won the audience award. There were some scathing comments, when he later played the Chopin Piano Concerto ( looks like they may have been removed). Two years later, his excellence materialized in wining the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition, over thirty competitors. Viewing his playing of the Rachmaninoff's 3rd Piano Concerto, in this later performance, vindicated his excellence and, totally, negated his critics.

so sad that szymon couldn't get any prize, he did extremely , after Charles, Kate and Seong, Szymon is the best .he is a real pianist

YES. Finally. This is the one. Every other video, they just don’t seem to understand how this piece is supposed to be played. Either prolonged sustain, or too fast or just strange key emphasis.

Not quite breathed out, but excellent control of dynamic range from the body, not the hands and forearm alone, solid singing tone but, again, the breathing and final polish of making it “vocal” as if always singer ein lied mit worte.

I wonder if they used the same piano (I mean, the same Steinway), as they sound quite the same. But yes, Aimi made more mistakes especially at the coda, but I still love her interpretation from 4:50, the best I've ever heard, she really made this part sound the exact way I want to play it! Melodious, not too loud, well… it's pretty hard to report the way she plays it for me, too perfect ^^ I listened to many many interpretations of this ballade and she's the best for this part
