In my mind, a Ballad was always something slow, emotional, romantic. I think that this version is how a Ballade should be played. These days, people just want to play everything at lightning fast speeds, and it's just impossible to enjoy and feel the music. This is really so exquisite, what a performance!

Increíble ! Bravo.

This performance is excellent, but more of a nocturne style instead of ballade style. Nocturne style is good for someone while sitting at night thinking, since it encourages the thought process. Ballade style is good to accompany someone doing ballet or ice skating, since it encourages the rapid body movements, instead of thought process.

Very interesting interpretation, quite slower than the usual but I liked that.
Beautiful maestro
Una caricia al alma. Hermoso.

Thanks a lot or this upload, been searching almost 3 months.
Maravilhosa interpretação
I need a cigarette after that performance and I'm not even a smoker.
That's the ballade!
Bravo maestro!❤❤❤
wow, perfect
From 9:10, it’s played perfectly. Very Sad and sinister
Amazing
9:00

Same, it’s amazing. Quite frankly I enjoy it more than the coda, which meant to be the climax of the piece.

For me 7:00 is my favorite.
Tempo 💔
don't understand why the editor choose to cut away from the hands view when he is playing the most difficult section (the coda) 😒😒

I used to listen to this recording daily until one fine day it disappeared. I was deeply saddened
Just curious, I know that he uses a lot of rubato but isn't the tempo and rhythm really all over the place? Like it's beyond rubato at this point.

El rubato es algo personal, si te gusta, ok, si no te gusta, ok. Así de simple

It was perfect until the Coda-he seemed to rush it a bit. The rest was exquisite!
Unschlagbar, divin, heavenly
By any chance do you have him playing the Scherzo that you could uplaod
There was another video of Garrick Ohlsson playing Chopin's op. 27 no. 1 at this very concert if I'm not mistaken. Does anyone know where I could find it?

Well i believe you have in mind his performance from Chopin's competition few years ago. It was truly magical, but sadly they took it down idk why. I wrote some emails about it but never got any response. After reading some comments I take understand consideration that this is reupload of this very lne performance. But it was ling time ago I listen to it so i cannot tell

Strange! Steinway & Sons sounds like Fazioli.
Hamburg Steinway?
love it. a little too slow for my liking
Not perfect after all but an amazing performence
