    Absolutely fantastic! It seems you were especially touched by the sounds you were creating (maybe because you loved the sound of this instrument so much), so you took time to absorb them and let them guide you into building up a cohesive masterpiece. The result is evidently magical. This is my new favorite video performance of this Ballade!

    Very nice. I always prefer pieces that most closely match the tempo and style intended by the composer. In the case of Ballade No1, I have found a wide variety of interpretations, but I think yours is probably very accurate. I really like Evgeny Kissin's piano works of Chopin, though I think his Ballade No1 is a bit faster than perhaps Chopin intended. This Ballade No1 is my current "work in progress" and I suspect it will take some months to learn and ultimately memorize.

    Greg I feel like the measures starting at 2:48 are best played as if Chopin had marked them agitato as like Rachmaninoff did the first movement of his second piano sonata.

    Greg, having listened to well over 100 different interpretations of this ballade, I feel like the central question facing the pianist is how you balance the three appearances of the second theme. My preference is for the first to be tender and contemplative, the second to be passionate and exultant to the point of almost seeming out of control and for the third to be confident and mature. What tonal pictures are you trying to capture and why?

  • @gregniemczuk

    @gregniemczuk

    6 ай бұрын

    I'd say that the second is grandioso and powerful and the third is passionate. I think generally pianists are playing the first half of the Ballade way too fast

  • @sunareekaewnat8967

    @sunareekaewnat8967

    @@gregniemczuk I believe that is because of the obsession that has developed around the codas, rather than focusing on the emotional journeys presented through the contrast in the themes as they develop. I believe that Chopin sent an important message in the F Major ballade by not ending it with the coda.

    Doskonała interpretacja, Panie Grzegorzu! Na stronie NIFC, przeczytałem kiedyś, że Fryderyk Chopin mógł się trochę inspirować Konradem Wallenrodem, Adama Mickiewicza i moim zdaniem obrazy z tej lektury opisał Pan, swoją muzyką, wybornie! Chciałbym też zaprosić Pana jak i Państwa do wysłuchania interpretacji Garricka Ohlssona, która wyróżnia się na tle wielu interpretacji. Życzę miłego słuchania😊 kzread.info/dash/bejne/ao13mMyqm5Cpgrw.html
