This performance is one of the most stoic I’ve ever seen Lang Lang - especially at the coda; it’s probably a testament to how much concentration that coda demands.

Lang lang played significant parts of Rachmaninoff 2nd piano concerto without looking to the piano. But he was looking on it the entire coda. really shows how difficult that coda truly is.

It’s also because the coda requires extreme jumps at great speed. Unless you’re Nobuyuki Tsujii, you can’t afford to look away even for a split-second.

Well, how we want to be better than Chopin, to play like no one else has played, to pull out some previously unknown nuances. And the result is vulgar and tasteless. It's a pity.

How could you say that ? Music is all about subjectivity and wether you like it or not is not a valid reason to define it as bad. His interpretation is in my opinion magnificent and one of the greatest. He breaks free from the burdens of the music sheets and play it the way he wants with an incredible amount of sensitivity as all artists should. Calling it vulgar and tasteless is an immense lack of respect and open mindness. I wonder how you can properly appreciate music without even understanding or accepting it's diversity. Please consider it and try to be nicer, especialy when someone puts his soul in his work. Edit : you might wanna checkout his interpretation of the 4th ballad and think again if he is tasteless

@@gimli4030 I do not dispute the almost transcendent virtuosity of his playing, his ability to attract hundreds of thousands in the open air, his contribution to the popularization of the classics, his charm, hurricane energy and temperament. But this is not why I love Gould, Gilels, Argerich, Sokolov, Sultanov.
