(26 Jun 1977) In a speech to wounded servicemen on Sunday (June 26) at the opening of a memorial hall to Rhodesia's dead soldiers, Rhodesian Foreign Minister Pieter Van Der Byl said Rhodesia will fight to the finish in any armed conflict.

@ByHisCall I take your point entirely... what I meant was that PK's diction is amusing, even though I believe him to have been entirely sincere. I have removed my comment as I didn't mean to cause offence.

@ByHisCall it's all too sad; I do know that at the opening of parliament allthe Africans all clapped hands when PK arrived... complete with white suite, panama had and a red carnation. They appreciated his style...which the other RF leaders did not have.

@ByHisCallOk.. he Rhodesia situation was very different from the one in South Africa, to which country I think it's unfairly compared merely because there are/were whites involved. There are many books to read on the subject. The Federation of Rhodesia of Nyasaland, or the Central African Federation which preceded the S Rhodesian UDI and which was light years ahead of South Africa as regards constitutional development and social/racial relations.
