I know this is a cliched thing to say about a French woman, but how bloody chic is Sylvie! That voice is gorgeous

I love their passion for conservation and animal protections! I cannot afford Chantecaille products but I love seeing women succeeding and supporting each other!

This interview was such an unexpected gift. I can never understand why the online beauty community doesn't discuss this gem of a company. They don't sell Chantecaille where I currently live so when I go home to Australia I stock up at Mecca Cosmetica. Their products are so beautiful. I had no idea of the link between Prescriptives and Chantecaille! I have an southern Italian father and a Scottish mother and I always had a hard time finding foundation with the right undertones, but Prescriptives was the only company that had concealer and foundation which suited my skin tone. Maybe I'm in denial about their demise because I still have the container from their translucent powder which I always transfer my current powder into. Caroline, when are you going to write your autobiography? Between your experience in the industry, your sense of humour, love for pop culture and your anecodotes from when you were a teenager, it would be such a fantastic and interesting read.

I wish Caroline could interview Jo Horgan of Mecca. I think that would be interesting. From her few tiny stores 10 yrs ago to a brand that could easily rival Sephora and indeed does, in Australia. I think they would do very well in the UK.

I had to smile with your comments about Prescriptives and the difficulty in finding a foundation color that works. I often tell folks that my skin color is northern Europe met southern Europe, or in my case it was more Eastern Europe. Darac at Bergdorf’s Perscrptive ‘s created a spot on color for me.

The year was 1988, Macy's 34th St, NYC, I was 20 and it was all about the PERSCRIPTIVES counter - color blend foundation and loose powder . CAYLIX was my first adult fragrance. Comfort. Cream was and still is BEST in-flight moisturizer. Thank you CH ( I am also CH) this video transported me back to my care free twenties and my discovery of the magic of make-up; skin care and fragrance!!! Thank U!!!!

Calyx seems reformulated now. It's very fruity instead of fresh and green.

I’ve loved Chantecaille for several years-the elephant palette is my fave and also love their rose de mai oil and future skin. But hearing their story is such an inspiration! Sylvie is such a maverick! I can only hope to have even a 10th of her success! And their ethical standpoint!! Wow! I love people with integrity! Love!!

Wonderful vid Mrs H. I have never tried any Chantecaille ( coz I is poor) but now I know the history and particularly the charitable work and animal conservation they do in the mother land I am going to save for something amazing. Thank you x0x0

Please make an updated “ best in skincare” video. Would love to see a video where you share your favorite products for each category of a skin care routine . My first makeup products ever were the Chantecaille eyebrow pencil, foundation, and tinted moisturizer! So expensive for a college student and part time worker but I had super acneic skin and was going to Hawaii for a wedding and was paranoid that everything was breaking me out so I bit the bullet and THAT TINTED MOISTURIZER... I forgot how much I loved it. I need to go to a counter soon. Absolutely beautiful conversation to listen to as always CH. you’re the best!!

YES!!! Hirons this is absolutely brilliant-it made my day. I loved Prescriptives-I was a Y/O and a B/R so when they custom blended, it was the first time foundation ever matched me perfectly. Fast forward to 2001 and I met Sylvie and Olivia Chantecaille at a Neiman-Marcus Chantecaille event. I purchased her whole line that day. As a science geek, skin geek, and a make-up geek it was love!! I have her “Just Skin” which I used yesterday (and posted on my IG gallery) and the African animal color line from this year. Cheers❣️💌

This was so lovely! Such interesting stories!!! One of the best days of my teenage LIFE was going to the Prescriptives counter in Harrods and making my own lip gloss. It was a gorgeous creamy plum color and smelled like melon? Funny choice for 15 year old me! It's obviously not usable now but I could never get rid of it. It was such a great memory with my best friend and mum. So iconic!

You had me at lions 🦁 💕 I fell in love with Africa on my first trip there too, and I have never heard anyone describe the effect so perfectly the way Sylvie just did. Boom. Hits you straight in the heart.

I loved this interview! We just visited the butterfly house at Norfolk botanical gardens and learned so much about the amazing butterflies life cycle. I remember so well working at Marshall fields in Oak Brook, IL..as a floater in Prescriptives. Still love thinking about memories of custom blend, camouflage cream and so enjoyed the makeup artists very modern edge on life and style. 1985-89....these moments with the 3 of you were exquisite. OMG, I used to love Calyx by Prescriptives and used their makeup as well when I worked at Bloomingdales's on Lexington ave. I used to haunt all the cosmetic counter's and watch makeup artist apply products and tried to copy their techniques. A few months ago I was given the opportunity to attend a luncheon given by Sisley owner, Madame Izabella, her daughter, son and daughter-in-law when the new 2nd floor cosmetic's floor opened at Saks. She like Sylvie Chantecaille , are such elegant, beautiful and smart women and I realized how hard these women worked to get where they are today. I am going to save my pennies to buy something from their skincare line. Loved this interview Caroline.

Thank you so much for this. Prescriptives Line Preventor was a godsend for me when it came out. It’s when I first fell in love with the texture and feel of a serum. I am in London at the moment. When into the Space NK a proceeded to buy several products from the Chantecaille line. Beautiful products. They feel amazing. And I don’t think I’m done yet.

OMG!!!!!! Prescriptives!!!!! I had a Saturday job at high school and I saved up my wages to buy a prescriptives custom blend powder. It was my first ‘proper’ makeup purchase and it cost nearly two months wages. But I loved it!!! My base was Chanel concealer (in the tiny black palette and it was refillable) and Prescriptives powder. And I just looked like I have fabulous skin!!! Ah, happy memories 💕💕💕

I have so much love for Chantecaille makeup! The Future Skin foundation (wish it was in a tube/pump) and Eye Shades are the best, and their stance against animal testing and philanthropy is the cherry on top 🐘🦁🐝

Heard about Chantecaille, was at Nordstrom’s and they did a make over . I normally hate 99% of make overs . Wooooow my face looked amazing and natural and I kept on looking in the mirror the whole day . Great products and approach on being classy and natural.

Did Sylvie say she worked with Estee? As in Estee Lauder? I want to hear more about that. Does Sylvie have a book? Because I need to know everything about her 📖.

I love Chantecaille! However, I really wish they would improve the colour range in their foundations. In Future Skin I buy Alabaster(v.light) and Nude (pretty dark) and mix my own colour. In Just Skin I've been colour matched as everything from Bliss (v. Light) to Wheat (pretty dark) and just can't find a shade for me. I would be completely devoted to Chantecaille, if they had the perfect shade for me. Aside from the foundation, I also love Lip Chic, Liquid Lumiere, and use Bois eyeshadow on an almost daily basis. Just recently needed a step down or 5 from the heavy foundations that were literally melting off my face in this crazy heat . Got recommended just skin ! Oh my !!! I’m addicted !!. And the liquid blush /Illuminator in Luster is insane on cheeks and eyes !!. Those lip sleeks omg so Gorgeous I have Lychee it’s the perfect non corpse bride nude !! I’m addicted !!!! A great company !! Yes not cheap but the results are worth every penny . X
