I've watched this performance a lot... I still get chills listening to her. Her control is out of this world. It's amazing how she just stands in one spot and has the crowd eating out of the palm of her hand. Music is food for the soul and she's serving a buffet!

Managed properly she could become one of the best vocal performers of this era, already she doesn't just sing she puts on a performance, she draws you in from the very first word, so much control and power, her vibrato is on point every time.

I've watched this 25+ times now, and it gets me every time. I've seen many, many great singing performances on talent shows (I'm 81), and this is the Best Ever (IMO). If Ant and Dec hadn't starting interviewing Syd after the performance, the audience would still on their feet clapping. This was Absolutely STUNNING!!! She is the Best singer to ever appear on a talent show (IMO), and if she doesn't win, it just clarifies the inherent flaw in this kind of show---the BEST doesn't always win. That said, I do believe if she again makes a good song choice, she will win. I would love to hear her version of "She Used to Be Mine", but whatever she sings I'm confident it will be Great.

OMG! She Used to Be Mine! It's the exact thing I told my wife after making her listen to this performance (she loved it and she's a tough room!). Her voice begs to sing that song, or almost any song by Sara Bareilles, who she reminds me of in many ways. I would have loved is she had sung that instead of Over the Rainbow, which is so over done by now. Of course, she killed it and won all the marbles as she should have. I heard on the morning show clip that the show had presented her options for the final and she really didn't want to do it (why doesn't anyone sing the original version any more?) as she thinks of it as Loren Allred's song and she kind of worships her. Honestly, she blows Loren Allred out of the water and she's a lovely songer. Anyway, this comment made me so happy since I had the exact same reaction (I'm 77, btw)>

BE READY TO BE BLOWN OUT OF THIS WORLD ON HER NEWEST PERFORMANCE… I MEAN… I understand that she is “smartly” choosing swelling, emotionally driven songs… but she has the chops, the dynamics… the range…. The … i said to my husband (BEFORE HER PERFORMANCE WAS EVEN OVER) that if she comes to the states.. I need to see her in person, in concert.. we are going! I have never been as moved by a singer on any videos I’ve watched and I’ve watched a ton…. And (btw, Simon was choked up while speaking to her after… take note)… I can’t wait to see you hear this!

She takes the audience on a journey. We don't realize, at first, that it's a journey up a mountain. She brings us along through the foothills, showing us the sights and sounds and when we think we're comfortable and happy...... She brings us along to a higher plateau....and then again....and then again..... And....when we think we've found the peak of this mountain and been shown it's incredible majesty...... She shows us another PEAK!!! The way she builds this song from beginning to end is a talent beyond her voice!!

Sydnie has become a LEGEND for introducing back very clearly to the whole world "The Big Hidden-Science in the art of singing". She is a Real Master in the art of singing inside-the-song - thus; she can build More Life and More Meaning to the song which, in the complete process, Sydnie has become the Song her-self. This performance is; Poetry becoming a song and a Song becoming a Poetry - hence; exactly, Simon called this a Master Class Performance'. Great salutation.

Hi Juliet. Great analysis as always. I was on pins and needles all week waiting to see this as soon as the video was posted. She looked gorgeous, she sang fantastic, and is still so humble. She has joined Loren Allred and Lucy Thomas as my favorite singers. Bless her and shame on those that denied her the chance at stardom all these years. And she won this semifinal. Also loved her making it even more personal by changing the lyrics to "woman" and her expression as she says it. The biggest problem with a show like this, where great singers compete with dogs, goats, stunts, comedians, etc., is that the best doesn't always win. It's difficult when you mix performance categories like that. I believe Sydnie has a tremendous following, and if they vote, then she will win. She's just so Incredibly talented and likable, it's hard to see her not winning. Of course, it's hard to follow a performance like this one. But if she picks a great song, she will win (IMO).

This is the third review of yours I have watched. You do an incredible job and I have now subscribed to your channel. Your breakdown of what the singer does is essential in understanding not only the art but the nuance of vocals. Thank you. BTW, I sincerely believe Sydnie Christmas is at a level above 99% of singers in the world today, her power, her vocal array, her projection and her control are one step above, regardless.

I only now have discoverd your channel cause of Sydnies performances. I am not a singer, unfortunately...but I so love how you explain performances. You do it with so much love and respect...will keep watching it...even after BGT ;-)...do you think this "H ight way (my way) part was on purpose?...and what do you say about the breathtechnic? I could hear her so clearly breathing in?...much love from Munich🤩

I discovered Juliet's channel here also only thanks to Sydnie. It was other reactors to this song who pointed out Sydnie is adding the syllable "high-", what seemed like an extra breath: "highways" is in the lyrics earlier, so Sydnie is making it ever more personal in this spot. Maybe Juliet said so too, about this phrase, besides her general approval of Sydnie personalizing this song.

This is one of my least favourite songs - but Sydnie just knocked it out of the park........she could be a once in a generation singer and desevedly so. Interpretation and deliverance 10/10. She belongs on the biggest stage. She won her semi-final and now - good luck in Sunday's grand final.

She plays us like a violin, going here and there, and everywhere; up and down and loud and soft. You can play me anytime; so happy to be on all your Sydnie journeys. Ok? And please don't team up with anyone. No Loren, no anybody with you. You, the whole package, are so thrilling to experience. I've said this before. There is so much to you, that we haven't as much as touched the tip of the iceberg as far as your gifts & talents go. I feel that in my gut. Don't water yourself down with anyone. You are a stand alone, with your loved ones, of course. We love you straight up. I hope you can hear me. You're no Loren. You're a Sydnie, a one-of-a-kind. Remember that. Be yourself.

How is it that no one mentioned the baggy pants and work boots. That really made me smile, or maybe there was a mixup. She is keeping it real and showing us she understands how fleeting this is. "Let's hav-it" Vocal Coach - Loved your explanation of what I was hearing. I thought that really high G-flat? was a tiny bit off. That was a millisecond of the performance.
