Every time I see a sweethearts' dance I am filled with immeasurable joy. What a pure expression of affection. What a fascinating, impressive performance.

In all my life I’ve not seen a more handsome couple nor one who dances as beautifully as Jocey and Trae. Last year I stumbled upon this video and it was such a treat...I come back time and again just to feast my eyes on these two. Beauty and talent is impossible to resist. Notice the perfect balance in every aspect. Hes physically tough, but needs her to prop him up. Shes spiritually tough but needs him to prop her up. There is a Ying and Yang for a reason. Masculine man and feminie woman make the world go 'round. 🤘

What are the meaning of lyrics? Are there Lyrics? It always sounds the same to this layman. Now that they've jazzed it up, oddly respect is failing. I understand times change but anything resembling change of syllables have not. Is it only highs and lows of notes I cannot detect lyrics in? Educate me please.

This annual Sweetheart contest has "committed couples" making their own original routine from the influences around them. Dancers usually love many dance styles, besides the traditions of their own culture. This year, Sweethearts had romance, some had comedy, some storytelling, and many dance moves from outside of powwow dance. These songs are powwow, which are historically recent. Instead of actual tribal language, these feature syllables called "vocables" that any tribe can sing. The tribes of southern plains developed a lower tone bass voice, with their own way of striking the drum. The northern plains sing in a higher range, with a faster beat for most their style of northern dances. Many powwow drum groups actually do sing songs in their tribal language.
