Native American Hoop Dance by World Champion Brian Hammill

Ойын-сауық

Brian Hammill 2009, 2011 and 2012 World Champion Hoop Dancer. Pigeon Forge, TN
This was a great show with a great cast of Dancers. Rocked the house. I included the monologue because that truly tells the story of the dance.

This hoop dancer is very inspiring children. My five yr. Old grandchild saw a hoop dancer. For his first time . I am creatimg his first Grass dancer . I and him if he wanted to be a grass dancer! He said ,"NO, I Want to be a hoop dancer. ". I was speechless, and so proud of this young Native boy. I'm now will make him hoops. !!!!!

I think the greatest thing a person can do is to share their culture with another person of another culture. I can't speak for everyone but I recognize the beauty and depth of the Native American Culture and even as an artist there is nothing wrong with finding entertainment as well as enlightenment through music and cultural dances. I feel blessed that despite all the negative atrocities against the Natives, they can still have the grace to share that which is so dear to them with everyone.

Thank you for sharing this, I really enjoyed watching it as well as letting the drumming enter my soul. 17 years ago in Cardiff, South Wales. I attended an educational conference of Native American Elders and with them was a 17 year old Welsh boy, who had learned this dance from various Native sources and he performed this for the audience. I seem to recall him using about 8 or 9 hoops. He received a standing ovation from all there that day! Always in awe of your traditions. Blessings.

I’m seeing this for the first time and I am almost in tears. I am not a Native American but I spent a lot of time on the reservations in New Mexico as a boy with my father, particularly among the Navajo, Acoma, Isleta and Zuni’s. I sent this video to my father this morning and we talked for almost an hour about you. We both have a love for Native American dance pow wow, traditional, shawl and of course hoop dancing. You are other worldly brother...just beautiful to watch the power, grace and artistic storytelling. You dance as well as anyone ever has in history and better than most ever could. I’ve watched it at least a dozen times since last night and I’m sure I’ll watch it dozens more. Thank you for this but most of all, thank you for making my father smile today and reminding us both of our time together with the Pueblo’s. Big blessing for us both. You are quite simply the greatest hoop dancer I have ever seen....
