To give you an idea about how common or not home runs are: Everyday players in the lineup will bat about 600 times over the course of a season (more if you bat early in the lineup and play almost every game). 30 home runs is a decent season total for a good power hitter; 40 is an All-Star-level total; 50 is good enough to lead the league more often than not; 60+ has only happened eight times (and six of those were at the peak of the steroid era from 1998-2001; Sammy Sosa managed to do it three times and somehow came in second all three times); the record is 73.

There's nothing like playoff atmosphere...which are all of the clips in this video. 17:29 is actually a bit of baseball history. The 2nd no-hitter in the playoffs in modern baseball...the previous one was in 1956 (World Series)...a perfect game. Also note, that the pitcher throwing in this clip actually did record a Perfect game earlier that season if im correct. AND it was his first ever appearance in a playoff game. Some background: A No-hitter is when the losing team does not get on base normally (A walk or a fielding error is not a hit). A Perfect Game is when the losing team doesn't get on base at all...officially there are only 23 such instances of a perfect game in Major League Baseball. World Series: A best of 7 series of games with the two teams that advanced through the MLB playoffs in their respective leagues (American League and National League). NOTE: These two teams may not have the best records in baseball for that year. Hitting a Home Run isn't easy and neither is hitting a baseball in general.

MLB (except in places like Boston) is pretty chill until late in the season, unless there's a big rivalry in a particular matchup. Each team plays *162* regular season games; that's a lot, and you're not going to sell out a regular game on, e.g., Wed. afternoon or night.

Hitting a home run is probably one of the hardest things to do in sports. Just getting a hit is hard. A 90 MPH pitch takes 4/10 of a second to reach the plate. That's how much time a batter has to identify where the ball is likely to be, decide whether or not to swing, and actually swing if he wanted to. Some pitchers can get the ball up past 100 MPH. (1 Kilometer = 0.6 miles). Some of the best batters get a hit about 3 times for every 10 tries. A hit is when a batter hits the ball fair, and successfully reached first base without any of the following happening: an error by the defense, or a fielder's choice. Example: Fielder's Choice. There are runners on 1st & 2nd. By rule those runners must try to advance to the next base if the batter hits the ball fair. So the batter hits the ball into left field, the left fielder grabs the ball on one bounce and throws the ball to 3rd base successfully throwing out the runner trying to advance to 3rd base. The runner on first arrives safely at 2nd, and the batter arrives safely at first. This goes into the batter's stats as reached on a fielder's choice and does not count as a hit. Error: The bases are empty batter hits the ball to the 2nd baseman, who throws the ball to the first baseman, however the throw is inaccurate allowing the batter to reach first when he should have been out. This does not count as a hit in the batter's stats, instead it's an error on the 2nd baseman. An error is any situation where the defense with normal effort should have been able to get a baserunner out, but fails to do so. Think dropped balls, errant throws, etc. Note that by rule a runner must reach base BEFORE he's tagged out or thrown out.

To put it in perspective if an MLB player gets a hit 3 out of 10 times he’s elite, 4 out of 10 times your one of the best in history of the game.. that’s how hard it is to hit a baseball going 90+ mph while sometimes curving 2 feet.

Can literally make fun of players mental illness 5. Can start fights with other fans for no reason 6. Alex Rodriguez 7. The no beards policy

If a home run ball goes over the fence, and contacts anything, the play is dead, and the home run is official. But, in some cities, if the visiting team hits a home run, and a local fan gets it, they often throw the ball back on the field in disgust.

I kind of feel bad for the pitchers. They're on the losing end of all these clips. In reality, if a batter gets any hit at all 1/3 of the time, that batter's in the Hall of Fame. You should watch "Field of Dreams," the best movie involving baseball, and it brings grown men, even non-Americans, to tears.

  • @agent1543

First off it's hard enough to hit the ball, second it's really really hard to hit the ball 400 plus feet for a homerun. After you watch some Jomboy "Breakdown" videos you'll get a better understanding of the game, and the difficulty involved in each aspect of the game.

Clip 2: Game 7 of the World Series (winner is the champion for that year) game winning hit Clip 3: Game (and series) winning home run during the 2019 ALDS. The horn is a ship's horn, I think? A Grand Slam is when there are runners on all three bases and the batter hits a home run - 4 runs. A fan wouldn't ever throw a home run ball back into play. I have never heard that happening. As for home run difficulty, it depends on the stadium. At home plate the runner has to be touched by the ball (or glove with the ball).
