College football has a longer history than the NFL, it's about 50 years older. The support for the teams are tied up with regional and state pride. Also many of the older and larger schools like Notre Dame(a Catholic affiliated University in Indiana), Penn State(in Pennsylvania), Ohio State and Michigan have supporters across the United States as they have graduates across the country or have ties to religious or cultural groups. Example Notre Dame College football is hugely popular amongst America's Catholic population particularly those of Irish Heritage but also amongst the Catholics of Polish and Scandinavian heritage whose settled in the Midwest part of the Country and the region around the Great Lakes.

At 1:53, the receiver jumps into the air as he catches it. There was a receiver who played for years and years on the San Diego Chargers nicknamed "Bambi" (Lance Alworth, Hall of Fame, 11 years in the NFL) for the springy baby deer of the same name. How did he last so long? In the air your knees don't get twisted. Especially true with the old style 2" cleats on the old shoes.

I’m in a high school band and my director was in DCI and he is still obsessed with it. Because of this he told us a “fun” fact about this show(it’s not fun). At 10:27 when the guys throws her down she actually gets knocked out which is why it may seem like the color guard guy struggles to pick her up. He is basically carrying dead weight. When he brings her to the sideline it seems like he tells the judge and it seems like soon after he is calling someone through a possible mic he has. I think he also goes over there to check on here again. Idk if that’s what was happening with the judge but all I know is that she got knocked out.

I ... honestly think that there was a tie for 'closest to the national championship' if we include pre-BCS, pre-playoff seasons, for West Virginia. They were #3 and playing the #1 Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Fiesta Bowl, and if they'd beaten Notre Dame _and_ Miami had lost their bowl game then WVU would have been likely to be the poll winners. Though that was _before_ the era where there was a specific game that had 1 and 2 and gave the championship to the winner regardless of whatever the poll voters thought. So it wasn't guaranteed. Totally moot since Notre Dame was on a roll and won their most recent national championship to date. (I think my dad, Notre Dame alum that he was, really got annoyed that his school had had four national championships since he started as a freshman in 1964, to that point, and did not have another one in his lifetime.)

Just remember the huge money America spends on the military also goes to protecting Asia and Europe. Like the $200 billion America sent to Ukraine. And the 70 years of American troops stationed in South Korea at their own request.
@blake7587Ай бұрын
The cost of healthcare in America is high because America bears all the burden of research and development. It costs hundreds of billions of dollars per year to discover new drugs and technologies. America pays billions of dollars to do it. Then of course it’s cheap when Europe just copies it without having to do the trials or research.
@blake7587Ай бұрын
It’s not that the U.S. is more “expensive” it’s more that because the U.S. is spending money everywhere from Japan to Ukraine keeping the world safe the purchasing power of the dollar is going down faster in America.

"Corps" (pronounced core) has nothing to do with "corporation." It is a body of people engaged in the same activity, as in 'the press corps.' Drum and bugle corps have been around for many years in the U.S. They started as paramilitary organizations and spread into the Boy Scouts. Today, most all are privately run organizations, but a very few are operated through schools. Competitions are fierce, and the rehearsal schedules are intense and grueling. Unless it is a senior or all-age corps, a member "ages out" at 21 and can no longer be a member. Check out some of the older videos (1960s - early 70s) to see how the activity has changed and evolved. Anaheim Kingsmen was the first Drum Corps International champion in 1972. It's worth a watch!

I’m actually an Aggie. I was in the Aggie Band initially then had to quit because I needed to focus more on my studies. Later I enlisted, though. The drill, training, and rehearsing for these halftime shows is beyond intense. All of that is in addition to your classes. Because you have Freshman, who the corps of cadets calls “fish”, similar to “Plebes” at West Point, each year with very little experience in militaristic band drills/shows, each halftime show gets progressively more complex as the fish learn. One misstep and it messes-up the entire formation. The drill for each show is constantly “drilled” into your head so much though that it becomes second-nature. Accidents happen occasionally, but are pretty rare. It’s amazing to experience in person. I will add, if this halftime show blows your mind, search for the Aggie Band’s 4-way cross-through show. It’s the most highly anticipated and most complex show reserved for the final home football game each year. That will blow your mind.
