SWEDEN?! I DON'T BELIEVE IT! SWAPPING UK VAN LIFE for VAN LIFE EUROPE

Our campervan adventures in Sweden continue as we travel to a National Park and find the last thing we expected in Sweden: a tree-lined beach paradise! We then explore the colourful town of Ystad, home to a certain famous detective. Vanlife is full of surprises, and it's magical destinations like these that keep this lifestyle fresh and exciting, and remind us how grateful we are to live a life in our tiny home on wheels.

Morning all! Wow, we really messed it up this morning 😂 At first I thought the video was released too late, as we're an hour ahead here...so I quickly pressed publish...only to realise of course, it was only just gone 8am UK time, and it had been scheduled correctly all along. Oh well, consider it an early Sunday present for you all 🤪 Anyway, hope you enjoy the video! Sun's out here and we're travelling to Germany's most easterly (more or less) point today...well, we will when Stephen wakes up 😂 Cup of (weak) tea first 😉 Happy Sunday all ❤

Fun fact for beach-goers: As Stockholm resident I learn you had to check the wind-report on what beach to visit, because the winds decided what beach would be cold.. I mean COLD.. and what beach it was nice. As I do not live near the sea, this was fun to learn.

Thank you for the clarification! So, Nordic actually comprises all of Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland, but Scandinavia is just Sweden/Denmark/Norway. As Brits, that's really interesting to know, as I do think all those above countries tend to get called Scandinavia here in a sort of catch-all term, so it's nice to know the specific differences. Lovely video about my home area. I grew up in Simrishamn, south of stenshuvud national park and I cant even count how many times I have been there with family, school trips etc. I live in Ystad nowadays but always visit Stenshuvud during summer. Too bad the entire coastline was hit by a heavy storm in october last year, therefor the fallen trees on the beach. The authorites even tried to close off the beach for the public, but it has gotten back in desent shape so hopefully tourists return there this summer. Its really fun to see foreighners enjoying Sweden, especially my home area.

We could easily live in Ystad if we had the chance 😍 A shame about the storms, it seems to happen everywhere you go, such is nature. Recently we visited Lake Constance on the German side and was shocked at how much tree debris there was after recent storms and floods. But they tend to recover (perhaps not always though, and they are not immune if storms increase of course). We're very glad we got to experience Stenshuvud at its best ❤️

Oh please, there's a lot of beaches in Sweden. The problem is that the weather doesn't really allow for beach life as it is cold af most of the time (from too cold to too bloody cold). My favorite beach near Stockholm, where I live, is a rather small little beach called Skarsand or Lilla sand on the island of Nåttarö. Most beaches are (of course) on the southern coasts of Sweden (including Gotland and Öland) but you can definitey find them further up north (although then they may not bee entirety natural. See Pite havsbad, for example.

Hello, thanks for commenting. Of course we didn't think that Sweden didn't have nice beaches, just that the type we visited is not the sort I think people from elsewhere would think of being there, a bit like if you've never been to Scotland, you don't really assume it has some of the bluest, most turquoise seas around. The one we saw had the look of the tropics, and as such a really nice surprise on our brief visit there. It was definitely the warm weather that made it stand out though, I agree that's probably not exactly a regular event in Sweden. Hopefully we can one day return and drive further north 😊

It"s of course cold or chilly during autumn, winter and early spring (some times even late spring), but we do usually have pretty great and often rather warm summers. This is true for the southern half of the country anyway. Around 20-30 degrees, quite ok for beach life, not as in the tropics of course. There are some long sandy beaches, Trouville at Sandhamn in the Stockholm archpelago for example. 😊

Kind of sad you guys left Sweden.. For some reason I feel a little abandoned here that you went on to Germany. Lol... Even though we've never met or talked. I live slightly outside the Stockholm area.. The cultural heartland of Sweden.. "Mälardalen". The part of the country known as Svealand in local vernacular. Or Sweden proper in English, the area which gives its name to the rest of the country. About 7 - 8 hours drive from Skåne. But still the bottom third of the country. There are great camping sites everywhere in Sweden... But they can get cramped in July.

The Nordic countries (also known as the Nordics or Norden; lit. 'the North') are a geographical and cultural region in Northern Europe and the North Atlantic. It includes the sovereign states of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway[a] and Sweden; the autonomous territories of the Faroe Islands and Greenland; and the autonomous region of Åland. Scandinavia is a subregion of Northern Europe, with strong historical, cultural, and linguistic ties between its constituent peoples. Scandinavia most commonly refers to Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. It can sometimes also refer to the Scandinavian Peninsula (which excludes Denmark but includes a part of northern Finland). In English usage, Scandinavia is sometimes used as a synonym for Nordic countries. Iceland and the Faroe Islands are sometimes included in Scandinavia for their ethnolinguistic relations with Sweden, Norway and Denmark. While Finland differs from other Nordic countries in this respect, some authors call it Scandinavian due to its economic and cultural similarities.[4][5]
