Dan & Stephen, two guys living full-time in our VW Campervan, Daisy, since 2021. We'll take you on many adventures but also showcase the realities of this vanlife existence and for us, they can be daunting. Because, ultimately, we knew nothing. But somehow we prove that, although not ideal, you can still take on this life and make the best of it…even if, like us, you're clumsy and clueless
Things can, will and do go wrong but we have seen so much in this short space of time to say it's been worth it. Sometimes, you've just gotta take a risk.
The goal wasn't living in a van, the goal wasn't full time travel (but that's a nice side effect!), the goal was simply to change our old lives for a new existence that gave more time back to ourselves. On that front, it gets a big tick ✔️
So join us on our journeys, as we take you across the UK and beyond, give you a window into our lives, and showcase anything else we get up to along the way that we fancy filming
Dan & Stephen

Hahaha, Stenshuvud... I actually had to bring out a map to understand where you were. It is difficult to pronounce in Swedish as well. Stones Head I guess if you translate it. Love to see my country through other people's eyes!
I’m Australian and have wanted nothing more all my life than to live in Europe. I’m still hoping that will work out for me at some point ❤
40,000 views. It’s usually the van tours that get the most views. Maybe you need to just move to Sweden…😉😂❤️👍
Northen part...my part is the best one 8-)
sry this gonna sound mean, but how tall is Steve?
surströmming is excellent if u eat it properly, in the north we eat it on a thin bread with union and sourcrem and a special potatoe
stenshufud park lol....in english that would be "stoneheads park" stenhuvudsparken
u should go to where im from a place or city called LULEÅ 8-)
The next time you visit sweden you should experience the rest of it..... like going to Göteborg, then to Stockholm and even continuing going north. (maybe even as far north as Luleå or even Kiruna if you feel the itch to go further) Tho if you do, you might get "sick" from seeing all the trees (as most of the northern parts are uninhabited)....... but if done in the summer, you won't be lacking in daylight (some might find it hard to sleep tho, as depending on how far north you go, the sun will never set.)
How many took fyou or irish gypsies -there is a forum on swedish for those guys -"they " make "works" in sweden and it seems scam elderly and behaive improperly dumping their leftover sideway and woods -When you see a pile of junk and building material on some nice part of the wood -It might have been your national people at work
The great Brit Kenneth Branagh made an English TV version of Wallander. A young Tom Hiddelstone played one of the detectives! Branagh was the lead detective, Wallander himself. I think it was a mini series of maybe three episodes.
When were you on MY beach, because it has been closed for some time now?
For someone who is both Swedish & Scottish (living in Sweden), I found this highly entertaining 😂 - especially your attempts at pronouncing the various Swedish place names etc. Not easy for a non Swede, so good effort although a bit painful 😂😂😂
So happy to see someone showing our beautiful Skåne, I only has seen people visiting Stockholm or Nothern Sweden.
Welcome to our beautiful country! Too bad you missed the Ystad jazz festival.
Hi guys lovely trip to Prague intresting info about the John lennon walk beautiful place even in the rain 😊
Thank you, yeah we were surprised by the John Lennon stuff, but it's a really big thing here and the Beatles themed pub was good fun 😁
I really enjoyed this. During the corona I was stationed and working in Ystad for 6 months. It was a wonderful time, since I had never been there before (born and bread in Stockholm). I LOOOVED Ystad, the cute city center (I lived in the center), the cathedral, the "caribbean" beaches, Ale Stenar, Sandskogen, Sandhammaren beach, the salt baths and the hospital (were I worked). I also ate at Per Helsas Gård several times. A blissfull time. Edit: Wallander is actually pronounced with a single v, like Vallander. And don´t pronounce the a as in wall, rather as in whack (short a).
Hello, so pleased you enjoyed the video 😍 What a fantastic place to be stationed, you've summed it up perfectly. We didn't show it in the video but yes, those beaches around Ystad were glorious - it was like pure white sand. Just perfect 😍 And thank you for the pronunciation tip, appreciate it 👍 😁
This popped up just as I sat down to eat my lunch. Toast, peanut butter, avocado, fried egg, with a drizzle of toasted sesame seed oil. Deeeelishus. I like Whitby, been a few times. I found free parking high up on the promenade. Drive right to the end, past all the paying meters. Toodle pip. ilona
Dont miss GotLand
Surströmming is one of my favourite things to eat every August, but I've eaten it since childhood. Acquired taste I guess. 😄
I think sometimes when we grow up with things we either grow accustomed to it or, as often happens, run as far away from it as possible 😂 I'm glad you enjoy it, you know I'm sure we need to give it a better chance under different circumstances and mixed with the appropriate food perhaps 😊
@comealongdear Yes, it requires a specific kind of potatoes, thin crispbread, onions, and for some, also sourcream.
Fun fact for beach-goers: As Stockholm resident I learn you had to check the wind-report on what beach to visit, because the winds decided what beach would be cold.. I mean COLD.. and what beach it was nice. As I do not live near the sea, this was fun to learn.
That makes sense, we should probably do that in the UK since it's nearly always windy somewhere there!
Where excactly is this beach?
Hello, this was in the Stenshuvud National Park in Skåne 😊
Thanks for the video. Nothing like experiencing your country through foreign eyes, to appreciate it more. Also, you made me crave Bostongurka. Haven't eaten it for years. Time to pick up a jar. Though I prefer it on hot dogs, not for dipping crisps in. 😂
You're welcome and we're happy you enjoyed it ❤️ Haha I think your suggestion for the pickle makes more sense, but it was so good, and crisps were all we had to hand right then 😁
As for how to say Wallander, Swedish doesn't have a W sound so if you se a W it's ALWAYS pronounced as a V.
Thank you! 👍
@@comealongdear vanker? 😉👍
I am glad you are enjoying my home country!
That camping site is bonkers and absolutely lovely!
It was such a magical little experience, you really felt transported to another time and place there!
Travelling in time I am. 😂 Loved the philosophical 'Magic'-talk on the beach (yes to more magic I say!) and the glorious cake bit at the end. You Brits and all your lovely desserts! 😍😋 Thanks lads!
Glad you liked Sweden. Welcome back
Thank you, your country is wonderful from what we saw ❤️
Stenshufvud is translated Stoneshead. Or Sten is a quite common name here. So Stens head. The ”head” is the small look out spot grazing over the Baltic Sea. Have a nice stay🇸🇪
Ah thank you for that info, we always like to know where names come from 🥰
@@comealongdear You can see the "head" looking like a big green bump in the background at 4:45. Also here: sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stenshuvud_(naturreservat)
Happy to see you here in Sweden 😊💝💝
And we were very happy to be there 😁❤️
OMG. Hope poor Daisy recovers. Loved Prague. Sue an I had a long weekend there about 20 years ago and you reminded us how beautiful it is. 🤗🚌❤️
Thanks ladies, it's fantastic there, very affordable, pretty, and good for motorhomes! A real rare treat. Daisy will be okay we think, we'll feel more comfortable about that once we're back on home turf though 😂
As sb thinking of getting an RV, how often do you have to empty the septitank and are the enough places where you can do that?
Hello, although our toilet is set up for that, we use a compostable toilet, however for chemical toilets there are usually enough places in Germany to empty we think, although it does vary from area to area. Some free, some paid for. The same as grey waste from your sink, these sites usually have those too. Apps like Park4Night can help you find them. As for how often to empty, I'm not entirely sure but I think maybe twice a week depending on how often it's used 😊
Don't know about Germany. I pay around 25 pounds per month for unlimited data in sweden.
Sweden wasn't that interesting then? 😊
Oh of course we wish we could've stayed longer! But we were committed to Germany (which we'd never been to either) so stuck to our plans. But Sweden is certainly calling us back one day! 🥰
We've been watching you for a number of months now but never told you just how much we enjoy these videos. We really look forward to each new one you put out. And don't mind admitting We've watched some over and over again. Thanks for sharing your adventures you really do make us happy.
Oh wow that's so heartwarming to read, we're so glad you've been enjoying our vlogs and thank you for taking the time to comment ❤️ It really does make us happy if people get something out of our videos so thank you for the lovely feedback. We hope you enjoy what's to come 🤗❤️
The first part of the nationalpark you filmed looks identical to were i grow up and i must say its amazing portrait of the landscape, youre managed to capture the feel and soul of it. :)
Hello, thank you, I'm glad we managed to do it some justice! I must say the amazing weather helped 🙏😍
Complaining about the prices for Fish and Chips in Sweden! Eat local traditional food when you are abroad. In Sweden you get the most amazing breakfast and lunch specials ( Dagens rätt ) for less then what you paid for your fried food. The huge impact of a Fika ( Swedish traditional coffee break) is just skipped over by you two. It breaks my heart that you missed out on so many great things by not making your homework.
This feels a bit unfair, we didn't have a great deal of time, I'm sure we missed out on many Swedish traditions, not just food. The fish and chips (which many Swedes were eating too I'm sure) was a novelty to us, as it's so big in the UK we wanted to try an alternative version. And as you will have seen we very much enjoyed it, even if it was a little pricey which I don't feel we complained about too heavily. Coffee breaks is something Stephen couldn't care less about I'm afraid, but if we do come back hopefully we do get to sample Dagens Rätt and traditional food in future 😊
If you come back to Sweden, I can probably arrange two places to stop by in Northern Sweden :) water + electricity available. Hope you have time to see northern Sweden some day!
Hello, thank you for the kind offer, hopefully we can come back and see more in future 🙏❤️
Yay, another gay couple in Sweden. Exactly what's needed..............
And you, sir, can creep under your stone again. If you live in Sweden you're a diskrace to our country!
Oh well, you'll be glad to know we've left then 😂 Can't please 'em all...
I’m going to Sweden soon. Fancy meeting up? 😉
Prague is beautiful, thanks for bringing us along! ❤ But what a cliffhanger!!! Daisy, oh no! 😢 I almost feel emotional about her, even if Stephen doesn't. 😅😜
Stephen and emotions do not go hand in hand 😂 Luckily for him (or not) I try to make up for it for the both of us 😆 Daisy went on quite the journey (as did we) which you'll see part of next week, but we think and hope she's okay now 🙏 Thank you ❤️
@@comealongdear Haha! I feel I am the same way as you Dan. 😅 💕 So happy to hear and look forward to seeing that! Relieved it wasn't RIP Daisy. All the best to you all three! 💖
Thank you, I'm glad I'm not alone 😂❤️
Lovely video about my home area. I grew up in Simrishamn, south of stenshuvud national park and I cant even count how many times I have been there with family, school trips etc. I live in Ystad nowadays but always visit Stenshuvud during summer. Too bad the entire coastline was hit by a heavy storm in october last year, therefor the fallen trees on the beach. The authorites even tried to close off the beach for the public, but it has gotten back in desent shape so hopefully tourists return there this summer. Its really fun to see foreighners enjoying Sweden, especially my home area.
Hello, we absolutely loved visiting your homeland, what a glorious place to grow up and live now. We could easily live in Ystad if we had the chance 😍 A shame about the storms, it seems to happen everywhere you go, such is nature. Recently we visited Lake Constance on the German side and was shocked at how much tree debris there was after recent storms and floods. But they tend to recover (perhaps not always though, and they are not immune if storms increase of course). We're very glad we got to experience Stenshuvud at its best ❤️
Great job guys🎉
New sub here!😃 I live in MidSweden (Värmland/Wermland).🌞🌿 A tip to get the pronunciation of "Ystad" correctly (or as close one can get to it), is to use the Y-sound in "Cybil", in the beginning of "Y-stad"..☺️😃 Not "ee", but "ü"...kind of how germans say "hi/bye" (tschüß/tschüss)..😃😁😊 Love your channel and looking forward to browsing through the videos!🤗❤
Hello, thank you so much for the tip! The "y" in Cybil makes that seem so much easier to get right now! 🙏 And thank you for taking the time to subscribe that's really appreciated ❤️ We hope you enjoy the videos from elsewhere on our travels just as we (however briefly) enjoyed your beautiful country 🥰❤️
@@comealongdearYou're welcome! ❤🙏😊 Thank you! You seem to be such fun people, and I believe I have hours ahead of me, loaded with interesting and fun bingewatching your videos!😁👏🥰❤️ Have a really nice day!❤️🙏🌞🌿😊
Our videos do vary from subject to subject, but we hope you get something enjoyable from at least some of them 🤞 Thank you again ❤️ 🙏
Lovely video (another one)! And that castle, beautiful! Can only imagine what it looked like inside. 😍 Thank you! 💗
It's the site were they filmed the TV soap, Take the High Road.
Another very interesting video, thank you. I went to the Harz mountains many decades ago and there were lots of witch souvenirs in the tourist shops as it is famous for them - especially on one particular night on the Brocken mountain. On the night of 30. April, they fly to the top of the mountain to meet the devil. Just one interesting “fact”. How dreadful and sad to see all the dead trees. Stay safe and well.
Hi Irene, oh yes the witches! I can't believe we forgot to include all of that 🙈 We kept seeing magic type shops and couldn't understand why until we looked it up. Really interesting fact and it would be great to visit there on Walpurgus Night to see what goes on. Hope you enjoyed your stay when you visited, I imagine a lot of it looks the same, except the tree situation of course 😬 But hopefully nature will come through that in its own way with new forests replacing them 🙏 Thank you for your comments as always, we appreciate it ❤️
@@comealongdear ❤️❤️
Thanks for showing us how beautiful Prague is ❤️. It looks a beautiful country and my kind of food. I do hope Daisy will be ok - not too much of a problem 🤞. I shall be looking forward with anticipation to your next video to know the outcome. Stay well and safe.
Thank you Irene, we're glad you liked what we could show of Prague, despite the weather! 🙈❤️ Daisy's dramas do continue for a while and left us somewhat stranded, but we made the best of it and her problems got resolved in the end we think 🙏🤞
uk is europe dude
Oh I know, it's a British habit I think, because we're an island we often say "we're going to Europe" if we travel to other European countries, but I do keep trying to correct myself by saying "continent" or "mainland" instead.
Prague is amazing, I’m like you Dan I hate loads of people! I am so sorry about daisy! And she’s now fixed! Much love xx
Thank you Lindsay, all seems to be fixed now, we hope 🙏 Yeah I think hating being around lots of people is more common than we think, Stephen's not a fan either, that said it felt managable in Prague, probably because it was chucking it down constantly 😂
that eating in the backroom. u can tell that dude munchies!!!!!
😂 To be fair, it's only because I (Dan) am the one filming most of the time, so you rarely see me eat, but I probably eat even more than Stephen!
