Welcome! So cool seeing you walk around in our familiar areas! I hope you have a great stay in Sweden! I recommend visiting the outdoor museum Skansen in Djurgården. You can take the ferry there from Gamla Stan/Slussen. There you find historical buildings and views from all of Sweden. Closeby you also find the Wasa museum, the Abba museum, and the entertainment park Gröna Lund.

Oooh, you're finally in Sweden! Welcome and I So hope you'll have a wonderful time in our capital 😊 If you get back to Gamla Stan a little later it will be a lot of people, it's a very popular tourist attraction with many different nationalities :) Coming back in a month I hope during my vacation off work 😊

3:35 That statue is Nils Ericsson, the engineer that built the Swedish railways. His brother John is propably more known since he built metal warships for the Union during the american civil war and invented the modern ships screw propeller. His first ship, Monitor, fought CSS Virginia at Hampton roads.

The ship you saw with the masts is from Columbia and according to my buddy who visited it today it's ok to get on it and look around. Nice that you're getting in shape, but you'll have to take some public transport sooner or later to save your legs. Some boats are also included in the regular ticket price.

The purpose of putting those big flower bowls in the roads is to slow down traffic and have drivers choose other routes to keep the streets fairly clean. They are also mainly considered to be walked upon even though cars can access them.

It's great that we got to accompany you on your walk and to listen to your first impressions of Stockholm. The building at the beginning of the video (about 7 minutes in) that you said you didn't recognize. Is the Knight's House. where they keep all noble shields.

You should take the train to Uppsala. Only 45 minutes away from Stockholm and its absolutely beautiful. Swedens fourth biggest city

At 10:34 you are at the German Church, built for the German Merchants and their families in the mid 1500's. 95% of the buildings you walked by in Old Town were built between 1190 and 1325. And yes at 15:20 You are at the Palace of Stockholm, it is one of the newest buildings on the Old Town Isle as the Original Castle burned in 1697. The current one you saw there was built between 1698 and 1754 with a break for war between 1701 and 1721.

So true, "people do not slow down" when riding their bikes. Some drive insanely fast and as if they're on top of the world and everyone else has to make way for them when they come on their bikes...I am Swedish and you really have to be on your toes, not to get hit by one of the mad ones, thinking they're part of Tour de France or something...
