    I have cracked the lens on a brand new $309 red dot before. Luckily the vendor gave me a new replacement under warranty. I really like the idea of the shield for protection. I think swampfox is doing big things right now at a very good price point...

    Just ordered mine, thanks man! Although the battery life isn't as high as the other optic I was waiting for to go on sale, almost 100 bucks cheaper made it easily worth it.

    Do yourself a favor and get a Holosun optic if you wanna go budget. This optic has a ridiculously LOW battery life and the Holosun only costs about $50 more and lasts up to 50,000 hours!

  • @elxdrummer09

    @elxdrummer09

    3 жыл бұрын

    In what conditions will it last 50,000 hours? What setting do they use to achieve those numbers? Most companies don’t advertise “real world” numbers. They do what they can to squeeze out as much battery life as possible and then throw huge numbers up when realistically, the battery life can’t even live up to those numbers. Just change the battery out annually and go on about your day.

  • @shojus

    @shojus

    @@elxdrummer09 You could certainly change the battery every year, or you could buy an optic that would allow you to go 3 years without worry. It has a solar panel that powers the dot in the sunlight (even if you have NO battery installed) and the 50,000 hour battery life is if you are using setting 6, which is plenty bright for most conditions. My point is that if you are spending what the Swampfox costs, you may as well get a better optic with more options and a FAR better battery life for $25 more (give or take). Aimpoint makes a red dot that will easily last 4 years without a battery change, so the technology has been around for many years. If it was $100 less, I may give it a look, but the competition has it easily beat.

    @@shojus I’ll say it again. In real world conditions, the holosun battery isn’t lasting years. It’s lasting a year and less.

    @@elxdrummer09 It's been on the market since 2018, so there are many people that can verify how long they last, including myself. I bought my first 507C when they claimed the battery life was 100,000 hours, but they changed battery types with the newer version so they now claim 50,000. I haven't changed my battery since it was purchased in late 2018, and it's mounted on my carry gun that's carried every single day. So is that "real world" enough for you? I'm not trying to argue, just stating facts. If you like the Swampfox than do you... 👍

    Great info, thanks. I have 3 Holosun dots but Swampfox has a fantastic law enforcement discount so I was going to grab the Liberty. If I missed it I apologize but you have a plate (adaptor) on the slide. It's an RMR footprint so can't you just mount the optic on the slide without the plate? I was looking to put it on a PSA Dagger slide. The "shake awake" feature is really helpful. Thanks, nice looking Glock you have there sir.

    Couple of things. 1) NEVER leave your weapon in the car overnight. Too easy for a smash-and-grab. 2) 4,000 is no longer a long life span when it comes to battery life. Especially now that we have Optics going for 50,000 hours. 3) If you're going to trust your life to this gun, just bite the proverbial bullet and buy an RMR. Additionally, for around $250-300, you can purchase a holosun (see Sage Dynamics videos for proven durability). That would be the only other acceptable solution for a duty dot that takes an RMR footprint.

    Rich Remeika go with the Holosun 507C X2 for mid size carry guns or the 507K X2 for micro carry guns like the p365xl or Springfield hellcat. It’s not really even a question. The Holosun is several times more durable. The holosun has a side load battery and a solar panel (507C X2) which you can set to run off of battery and solar so when it gets enough light it will switch itself to solar and when the panel can’t get enough light it switches to battery. The holosun also has 3 reticle options and the others only have 1 single dot for a reticle. The holosun also has a button lock feature so you can set your brightness and lock it so if the buttons get hit during edc, it won’t change brightness.Once you mount it you never have to take it off. The other options you will have to remove from your slide every time you need to change battery. Go to Sage Dynamics and watch his torture test on the holosun and then watch the test of the others. Again, it’s not even a close comparison.

I personally have it , dpp, vortex and budget red dots on other firearms that I have zero problem trusting.. at my age I think I'm fine with plain irons, but a red dot helps more As far as knocking olight ? I have various light systems , olights are just fine lighting systems ... They have a large following and good community ... almost cult like but w/e I like this channel because it saves me time and money trying all sorts of products and he clearly points out that yes indeed you get what you pay for but like me most people don't need to spend 2k on a lpvo while one that's couple hundred is just fine ... I can agree to not leaving your gun in your car for sure. I’m with you all day on that. However I think these optic companies are way overpriced! I’ve been into firearms for about 3 years now and it seems that the accessories cost more than the gun itself! $300 for a magnifier, $2000 for a scope? GIMMIE a break! If I can find a quality part at a good price that offers the same if not better service then I’ll buy it. These top brands need to start taking notice instead of loosing out on potential customers.
