Swampfox Liberty & Justice red-dot sights, along with the Ironside protective shield

The Swampfox Liberty and Justice red-dot optics are a great affordable alternative to red-dot sights such as the Vortex Venom and maybe even the Trijicon RMR. And "affordable" doesn't make then "cheap" - they are high quality from a Veteran-owned company located in Colorado.
We also looked at the Ironside protective shield for the Liberty. At the time of filming this review, the Ironside was only available for the Liberty. However, as of Thanksgiving, 2020, the Ironside is also available for the Justice.
Don't let the name Swampfox fool you into thinking these are cheap knock-off optics - they aren't. And the name Swampfox has great history going back to the Revolutionary War.

So far, the Liberty has performed very well on my S&W 327 TRR8 and the justice has been great on my Canik TP9 SFx. I have a review coming out on the Swampfox Blade prism scope and I’m considering their Arrowhead for an AR build.

    A timely video. I just ordered a Liberty to use on my PPQ .45 carry. They had a great Black Friday deal - $209 including the Ironside shield. Figured it was worth a try at that price. I appreciate that it's got shake awake - a feature I love in my Holosuns and Sigs. The addition of the Irosnside shield is very cool as well. We'll see how it performs. Should arrive this week. I'm also curious about their scopes. They get some positive reviews and seem to offer a large bang for one's buck in the "mid range affordable " category ($500ish).

    @@RidersRange The idea of a 1x prism scope is intriguing. I've got red dots on a couple ARs but if I was to start over I'd try a prism for sure. I'm considering one of their 4-24 Kentucky Long scopes for my budget precision .22. The near parallax of 10 yards would be quite useful if it's anywhere close to that short. The Arrow LPVO looks terrific. I've got a Primary Arms LPVO on an AR and it's adequate but I haven't fallen in love with it.🤷🏻‍♂️ I do like the ACSS reticle tho.

    John, if I were to put one of those on an AR, it would be the Justice, mainly because of the wider glass. However, I prefer the Blade prism scope. I have a review of that coming out soon. I put it on my Beretta CX4 Storm carbine. That will be a separate video. Stay tuned.

    I have a Tomahawk LPVO on a 3-gun AR I built. It’s been great so far and priced at a point where I’m not worried about the optic when I dump the gun in a barrel. One of several Swampfox optics I have. Only complaint I’ve had on any is battery life on the Kingslayer. Even then it’s a minor complaint. Knew going in it wouldn’t be great with a CR1632 battery. Their entire line is very good. Especially for the prices you’ll pay.

    @@ryanscholl5450 I think my Barris Fast Fire and Vortex Venom both use the cr1624 and their lifetime was two months when daily carry and shooting weekly. Now they are safe queens, they last 2+ years. How is the Tomahawk glass? Is there Swampfox micro red dot with CR2016 battery?

    @@WheeledandWellArmed I should have specified a little better. These have a 1632 as well but the emitter is better and the shake awake keeps the battery going much longer. Keeping the Kingslayer on at all times for carry drained the battery pretty quick. I have it on a shotgun now and it’s great. The glass on the Tomahawk is really good for the price point and I’ve got no complaints. Arrowhead would be better but I didn’t want to spend $500 on an optic I knew I was going to beat up.

    I ordered justice and had to send back then got them to send me the liberty with Ironside...and it's almost here and I'm wishing I would've just stuck with the justice....the bigger window. Do you think a liberty will be plenty big enough window for a glock 19 carry and range gun?

  • @RidersRange

    @RidersRange

    2 жыл бұрын

    If I recall correctly, the actual window on the Liberty is larger than the window on the Trijicon RMR - the "gold standard" of red dot optics. Plus, for a carry gun, the ever-so-slightly smaller Liberty may conceal slightly better than the Justice. But this is just my opinion. Thanks for watching.

    Ordered a Justice. Discovered the design has the rear emitter housing open at the emitter. Support said the design does not incorporate a lense at the emitter, but the unit is waterproof. However this open emitter housing will allow debris (sand, dirt, brass flyings) into the housing where the exposed circuitry (2-conductor ribbon cable which routes power from battery compartment to emitter compartment) will be mashing it up salt shaker style with this debris after every trigger pull. Otherwise seems like a quality product for the price. Recreational use ony in my conservative opinion. I will not edc this design.

    Doug, it will be interesting to see how the Swampfox optics hold up long-term. (I'm still waiting for Sage Dynamics to do a torture test on one.) I'm relatively new to carry optics and I still believe there are two types of optics - those that will die, and those that have died. So, I still insist on back-up iron sights on my carry gun.
