A new side story mini series to accompany my AW11 MR2 project. My friend Zion has owned a mk2 MR2 (SW20), but blew his 5SFE engine from a rusty radiator. After almost a year of saving and searching, he found a 3SGE red top BEAMS engine that he plans on swapping in. So I'm here to film the process of what hopefully turns out to be a fun and successful project. This could either become a decent tutorial / guide of the swap, or a "what not to do".
For part two, we are putting the new Beams engine in. This requires a new clutch and flywheel, swapping the transmission over, and plenty of wiring. Plus the tricky task of lining up the engine with the motor mounts.

I have one more AW11 MR2 vlog to get out, then I will be taking a break from these project car vlog videos for a bit as I focus more on higher quality content like cinematics and reviews. Plus I just need a break from working on cars after 3 months of painting mine haha. Big videos coming soon! And at a faster pace now!

Bothell? You gotta come up to the darrington meet I have later today!! Last second invite haha but I posted details about it a bit ago on the community tab. I got another end of summer though too!
You know you guys couldve saved a massive amount of time by doing some research beforehand. Theres an endless amount of info on beams specific swaps on the MR2 forums and everyone there is always willing to help with any other questions you may have.

If I had a good bit of money to spend on a car. I think I would beams swap a 6th gen celica. The beams is one of my favorite Toyota engines.
What size screws for the trans housing for engine?
what flywheel and clutch did he use im engine swapping a greytop beams into my 1999 toyota rav4 L with a 5 speed manual and a center locking differential
do you have a diagram of what you need to change from the red top harness to the mr2 body harness

What year is that fsfe motor?
So you're taking the more powerful engine and putting it into the lighter body of the AW11.

Haha I thought of it, but the 5SFE has like 10-15 extra horsepower but revs lower and is way heavier. It’s weird cuz it’s supposed to be their economy engine but I’m pretty sure it gets worse mileage than mine too.
