    You can buy a adaptor kit to bolt the g16b upto a g13 bolt pattern, I actually have one in my shed if ya in need. You can also run all your g13 bolt ons on the g16 with the 1600 injectors with the stock computer. Sump etc will all interchange. Have done a good 10 g16b swaps in sierras now. If you need any more info let me know

    @redzook1 from what I understand, the pick of the bunch is an engine from a 99+ Baleno when transplanting into a '98-01 Jimny. Apart from ignition system matching up, could the engine mount points on the block be better suited than a 1.6 from a APV?

  • @redzook1

    @redzook1

    Yeah the late baleno's have the "best" block castings. Everything else on them are completely interchangeable. You can even use an early distributor baleno motor for the swap, the distributor housing unbolts, swap cams and bolt cam angle sensor directly in its place, rocker covers swap over for coil on plug. My Jimny ran a early baleno g16b for many many years and still does.

    The thing people don't realise is that the engines in these vans sit at a 45° angle. You can't just throw another engine in out of a Swift or Barina without major mods to the sump, oil pickup and inlet/exhaust manifolds. There are several suppliers of these including lynxae, pro-motive and z-cars. Legislation states that the gearbox must have reverse gear in its original form. What a sweet looking little thing. What about a Swift GTi engine? They're a G13 something aren't they?

    The block casting is the same from the engine that is in it. So you could fit the gti head pistons and oil pum

    That's when you go "so we COULD get a GSX-R1300 engine if you want it to be 1300cc?"

    Someone commented that you can't road register bike engined cars in Aus due to having no reverse gear and other reasons. I guess this is why you don't see it.

    There are conversions for the 1300cc from Suzuki, you swap out the gear-shaft for a straight ungeared one with a rear cluch&flywheel spot that also can be mounted a bellhousing to. For an example of one, google the "miatabusa" for instance, there are other ones out there but that one will be a direct kit when they finish it.

    Obviously a barra should go in, I understand this now becoming a tendency in your part of the world to put these in vans.

    Just install a g13b, from a swift gti, twin cam, bottom end is forged and wont be a problem for +250hp, only need low comp pistons from vitara

    GTI bottom ends arnt forged from factory. And you don't need lower comp pistons for boost on them.

    @@redzook1 crank and rods are forged. What I said is that you can reach 250hp with low compression pistons. With stock ones you can't

    i thought doing a Frankenstein to the engine would be better, the g13bb has forged rods, get the forged crankshaft from the g13b, stick some decent pistons, and turbo it, probably would have been easier and got a lot more power.

    Put a 4 rotor in it. Alot of work, I know. You'd still have it running before Dahm's though.
