I have had my Motorcycle License for more than 50 Years, and literally owned and / ridden DOZENS of Bikes. I'm 69 now, and still love to ride. I have a part-time job, and currently own a Gixxer 250 as a commuter. I have not ridden a Vstrom 250 as they are NOT Available here in the States. But, I WANT ONE! And, as much as I like my GSX, I would sell it in a hot minute in favor of this Vstrom!

Have one since 2018, and I can tell you, is a great bike. Of course 25 hp sometimes are not enough, and it is not a fast bike, but damm is comfortable, reliable, well and quality designed and built and so cheap to maintain. The consumption is amazing!!

First I always enjoy your videos😀👍 Just came from a testride on this small V-strom and this bike is very comfortable and easy to ride. Good sitting position. I'm 5'8 and had no problem having my feet solid on the ground. It doesn't feel like a small bike at all. Some buffeting at my helmet but maybe another screen will fix that. Great small dash with all you need and very clear to read even with the sun right in the dash. What surprised me was that it doesn't feel slow at least not in the city. At 55 mph in 6th gear I just rolled on the throttle to 65 in no time, but the revs sounds and feel high like I needed a 7th gear, but no vibrations at all. I didn't have time to go on the highway but it should capable of doing that. For a beginner the throttle handling and clutch is super easy to handle. Keep up the good work👍 Peace from 🇩🇰

My last bike was an old 1200 Goldwing and I've just bought a 250 V strom. I was so surprised at how smooth and quiet and easy this bike is to ride. It's well worth the money. I bought it also for the fact it's higher for a taller rider and way more comfortable than most of the cramped bikes these days.

Some countries, like China and Japan, offer lower registration fees and/or lower inspection requirements for bikes with 250cc and less. Definitely makes sense to have a bike like this one, that offers pretty much the best performance for its displacement.

I use a Honda SH125i for food deliveries and love riding it. I did an A1 just to get rid of the L plate. Even though I'm getting on a bit now, I will try get my A2 next year, as I won't have to retake the theory test from A1 to A2. This bike interests me a lot, it's a nice looking bike, not too tall, very economical and having done around 60,000 miles between my Vespa primavera and the SH, the absence of a lot of power does not really bother me. I sometimes spend just under 4 minutes on a motorway to get to a pick up point with the throttle wide open, does 65 mph. Can't say I'm a motorway fan, as I enjoy the ride and like looking around. I love that it's a twin cylinder. Nice review!!!

Ive traded in my Sinnis Terrain 125cc for a DL250, I had the DL650 adventure bike and it was great at covering long distances on the motorways, but day trips B roads they are too big, i went small, but too small, the 125 just isnt quick enough when you gotta pop onto a A road for a few miles, whereas the 250 can sit on a A road all day long, Surprised the wight difference in only 14kg between the 2, and the DL250 still does 85mpg and the lower tax band, and cheaper insurance than the 125cc weirdly, i think its a perfect sweet spot, surprised Suzuki dropped making these after just 4 years, as prices go up i feel many more will look at the smaller bikes

Being a bit taller than me and having bad knees you are my perfect test rider, my back is OK at the moment. I am just over 60 and never ridden a bike, I am hoping to take my test before Xmas this year and was planning on buying a new RE Himalayan BS4, one reason is I live 10 mins away from the north of Salisbury plain and can use the dirt / stone roads at the weekends. Looking around I have my eye on the Benelli TRK502X, the Zontes T310 ADV and now this Vstrom 250, but I like the look of a 2016 Triumph Tiger 800 - not sure what to buy? This is a nice and simple well designed machine - Dhow! not sure what to do?

This is definitely a bike I'm considering as a second bike, currently on a Chinese 125 and honestly it's not bad, but I occasionally need to go on a dual carriageway (and sometimes a motorway, but those are crazy on a 125 so I don't) and 10k RPM to do 63MPH (according to google maps) is probably a little high to be keeping it at constantly lol. Honestly it's either this or a Suzuki Inazuma since they've been out for a while now and will be cheaper, oh and I've got the A2 but those damn insurers basically forced me to get a 125 -_-

spicy110 it is one I’m seriously considering. The only downside that I can see is there are not too many tyre options in the standard sizes but I’m sure there’s a work around for that. That tank range would certainly help up here as when you get up near the top of Scotland you are sometimes scratching about for fuel stops as I found out on a Honda innova a few years back. This would be positive luxury at over 200 miles tank range.

I've got the original utilitarian version (Inazuma 250) and it handles the motorway fine as you say just don't expect quick and easy overtakes if you're travelling at 70. I've read about people doing 2 up tours on it fine. Only downsides for me is the 3k valve check and the air filter is right under the rear of the tank so you have to pull it off otherwise everything else is p*ss easy compared to my FZ1. The Vstrom 250 IIRC has a 17 litre tank so you probably need to fill up once a year haha my Zuma's 13 litre tank lasts ages.

That little machine seems nice but it's terribly heavy, considering the power it has... Any advise on how to lighten this bike ? And make it more torquey ?

  • @spicy110

Exhaust, lithium batt, take off any bits you don't need. As for torque don't know maybe a remap and a gearing change.

I've read and watched positive reviews about this bike, but have 1 concern - will it fit me? I'm pretty tall AND heavy. Because I heard you are tall as well, does it have enough room? I'm not concerned about power and top speed. And I always drive alone, so it will carry (maybe :P ) the 22 stones of me. But I hate feeling cramped on a bike. Or anywhere for that matter :)

No way a bog standard CBR 125 does a genuine 80 mph unless you launch it off a Cliff .The Suzuki 250 V Strom 24• 7 Hp. does 85 mph the same as the Honda Superdream 250 twin with 3 valve heads & 26 hp did ,in the days before fuel injection & cats strangled performance.

I am used to riding a supermoto with a bench seat, so I maybe a bit more tolerant but I would not say it's a bad seat. A lot of this is your ergonomics tho so it will be different for different people. 👍

Loose 2 Teeth on the Rear Sprocket. You'll GET a cruising speed of 75 out of this bike. You will lose a SMALL amount of its jump from a dead stop, but based on my Experience with my Gixxer 250, it should NOT be a major issue!

Sorry for the stupid question here, but if one changes sprockets does one have to remap the ecu accordingly or is that not needed for such a small cc bike?
