I don't think it was Blanc. Blanc wanted to return the Coven to its pure form, one where sacrifice is a completely voluntary choice. That's why she was spared by Mother Suspiriorim. When Olga calls them "witches," Blanc has a frightened and concerned look on her face, while the other witch is laughing mockingly. Blanc was at odds with these types of witch, and there were others too that followers her, like the other matriarch who committed suicide.

Saw it yesterday. My favorite horror film of the year. Didn't see a lot of horror films this year (A Quiet Place, Hereditary, Annihilation), but this one will stay with me far longer. I hope it receives some nominations, but knowing the Academy, I'm not going to hold my breath. The story, acting, cinematography, score, sound design, and editing were so well put together. This is a dense film that I think a second viewing will help me understand some sub-plot a little better. Lucky for me, I want to see it again (this time not at 9:30 AM - so tired).

I watched this film in LA this past weekend and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! It’s now on my top list of horror films (original already being in it). I’m so glad they didn’t copy and paste like Other remakes. This version is definitely more grim and evil. Both are great. Don’t compare. Just love both! You could tell Luca Guadagnino put his heart and soul into this film and it shows. He’s been wanting to make Suspiria since he was a kid. Bravo on a great retelling Luca! Go see it everyone! Don’t believe the bad reviews calling it the next “Mother!”. That movie didn’t explain crap and left you hanging. This is wayyyyyy better.

Its a film that, if my reading of the script is accurate, won't have enough mainstream appeal to be an Oscar nomination. It gets HARD into it's subject matter, and doesn't care if audiences can't keep up with the story its trying to tell.

remember most of the true classics out there very often divide "the critics" and these days they are mostly bought off shills (cough....disney-lucasfilm especially cough cough) with political agendas not proper film critics and theyre thinking "oh no you cant portray a matriarchy in a negative way ever".such hypocrites. it actually even portrays how the dance etc industries bring u in and vampire off you energetically then spit you out,the only thing i dislike about this film its that it will create more fear suspicion etc towards actual postive witches ye know, but. this actress does the contortions herself?? with only a tiny bit of practical effects

scientific materialist based thinking only goes so far man.theres more to this existence than what you can see or evaluate properly or fully and scientists have dcided they know everything now so apparently we all know everything about everything that happens in our 3d existence lol even though they wont properly cover so much thats kept for black ops etc. there are at least 10 dimensions beyond our own 3d one so why could there not be energies/entities in the 4th dimnsion or others that can be accessed or manipulated or the other way round??
