Yes; they were very naive. I don't understand why; they knew that the people of Gaza had elected Hamas. They must have known how all-pervasive the presence of Hamas was in Gaza, their propaganda and their total control of the educational system. How could they really trust anyone who'd grown up under that? Not to sound cruel, but it makes no more sense than allowing someone with a deadly and highly contagious disease into your home, and near your family and children. Altruism cannot supersede self-preservation, and protection of one's own family, community, and country.

Because these colonists are not religious. They were given the stolen land that had owners. If your entire family was kicked out of your home and property and could only take what you could carry while walking. No compensation. All the while knowing someone like me was given the house, property and all its possession by a story only I believed so that MY house, MY property and MY possession were always mine by ancient right regardless who may have been there for 100s of years. How would you react while living hand to mouth in crowded lving quarter with no opportunites. With militiary watching your every move, your children taken and questioned just becaseu they can. But don't worry, me with all the opportunities, my house, my property, my possession will drive you to appointments once you get through humiliating checkpoints, then I will also talk to you about God adn how below my status you are.
