Great tips! Here in Zone 9B, we have ANOTHER GREAT TIP, we allow our grass to grow and stay higher to protect the root system. St. Augustine grass is capable of handing our heat and humidity and bouncing back after a great rain. Especially now, while we’re betting highest 90s but due to humidity feeling over 100 degrees. Love your channel.

Hello Kimmicannon, Thank you for your support. I NORMALLY cut my lawn high during the summer as well. The only thing that I'm not cutting high this year is my test plot. We'll see how that goes this year. Thank you again, and God bless

Hi Sir, any experience with St. Augustine grass sod? It was recently installed a week ago and the temperatures are ridiculous lately here in Florida
@PoloFieldsLawnService
11 ай бұрын
Hello, is it turning brown on you? If so, giving your lawn some water will help. I do understand it rains alot in Florida, but those short rains only will cool the lawn down for a little bit. If it was recently installed, you'll need to water it deeply and infrequently, meaning giving it at least 1 inch to 1 1/2 of water per week. I have a video about watering that explains this method if you have time to view it.
why not use summer fertilizer ? wouldnt it help with stress ?
@PoloFieldsLawnService
Жыл бұрын
Most summer fertilizers are polymer coated and are packed with potassium. In one fashion, the potassium is great for the overall health of the plant, and the polymer coated prills will basically drip feed throughout the summer. The problem is, if you put down too much and you experience a week with temperatures in the 90s, that polymer coated fertilizer will dump. So, instead of the fertilizer drip feeding over the course of 3 months, the hot temperature just made it release the majority of it all at once. If this happens, then you'll either burn your lawn or experience fungus. The best practice would be to spoon feed it if you're using a granular or spraying your lawn, use a organic fertilizer or a fertilizer that has methylene urea in it because they will release slowly. Give it some fertilizer, but not too much, and I would ONLY do this if your lawn isn't stressed out. If it's brown and crunchy, you'll need to give it water to bounce it back. Sorry for the long answer. I hope this helps 🙏🏾

Do you by and chance have to be licensed to put fertilizer or weed control on residential property. Like the way you take care of the lawns you mow
@PoloFieldsLawnService
Жыл бұрын
If you're doing it like me, YES. You most definitely have to be licensed. If YOU'RE the homeowner and YOU'RE doing it ONLY ON YOU'RE HOME, no. But the moment YOU do someone's else's lawn and money is involved, YOU BETTER BE LICENSED.

Polo Fields Lawn Service I appreciate your response back Mr Polo and your info. So what do you do when winter arrives. What services do you do since you can mow. Is the fertilizer and weed control you do in winter.

I just found your channel a couple days ago and you help me to identify that I definitely have fungus issue. I purchased the liquid fungicide and Scott's granular disease ex. Is it still okay to do the treatment while temperatures are going to be constant 80s? Thank you and really appreciate your help!

Hello Misty, I'm glad that I helped you identify that you have a fungus. It's fine for you to treat the fungus that you have on your lawn. What liquid fungicide did you purchase?
@MistyB279

@@PoloFieldsLawnService thank you for responding. I purchased the bio advanced brand.
@PoloFieldsLawnService
Жыл бұрын
@mistyskebo OK, since you currently have a fungus, put Scott's disease x down at the curative rate, then spray the bioadvanced on top of it to water it in. That should stop it from spreading, and you should see some clearing up soon.

What if you have 20k SQ ft to do with one sprinkler and you start at 5am but have to go till 2pm to get the whole yard
@PoloFieldsLawnService
Жыл бұрын
Hello Jayson, break it down in 2 sections. Water section A (10,000sqft) on Monday and section B (10,000) on Tuesday. It's also gonna depend on what sprinkler that you have. The orbit sprinkler on the tripod puts out a lot of water. You can get it from Lowe's. That's the plan that I would go with, boss. Trying to water it all on the same day will take you a long time, like you said. Try that and see how it goes for you. Best wishes 👍🏾

@@PoloFieldsLawnService I have the big sprinkler one you have with the rain bird 5000. I'm on a low yield well it takes 30 min to get 1/4 per section..and I can get the front or back done before I leave for work 3 days a week so I end up doing the whole thing on Friday and Monday while doing yard work on Sat and Sunday

@JaysonRking That's weird. The reason why I asked is because I have both, and I get more water from the impact one than the other one.
So you dont apply anything for heat stress besides water.....

Hello Marco, Did you see the thumbnail for this video. Those 2 big brown spots. All they need is water to bounce back to a green lawn.NOT NITROGEN, WATER. Now, if the grass is green or not stressed out, you can give it a little fertilizer if you want, but you don't necessarily have to.
