    Good Mow-nin, just to inform everyone that there is an infraction in the nitrogen rate in this video. I TRIED to type the correct rate at the bottom of the screen with the right rate(.80 lbs of N per 1,000 sqft) before the video dropped, but apparently, it didn't upload 🤦🏾‍♂️ So, for everyone watching this video and reading this message. When you get to the part we're, I'm talking about nitrogen. The correct rate is .80 lbs of N. Basically, don't apply a lot of nitrogen on your lawn in the spring. Thanks for watching. Thanks for understanding. God Bless 🙏🏾

    0.8lb of Nitrogen per application is perfectly fine though. Most only apply fertilizer once if at all.

    @3rdyellow Yes, you're right as far as .80 lbs of N. Even though I wouldn't apply more than .50 lbs of N in the spring to a cool season lawn in 1 application. Most people apply fertilizer, maybe once, and in my opinion, fall is the best time to apply to a cool season lawn. But applying a lot of fertilizer in the spring could do more harm than good because of excessive mowing, not keeping up with top growth and diseases. Appreciate your feedback 3rd yellow 👍🏾

    Thanks for keeping it simple. I wont be doing anything this spring. I was dealing with fungus last year on new grass, not sure if its going to carry over this spring. So, I'm letting it do its thing and hoping for the best.

    Simple plan 👍🏾 For future reference, depending on when you had a lawn fungus in your lawn, it's best to put down a fungicide to prevent it from coming again. Of course, over fertilizing or over watering at the wrong time is just a couple of factors that can induce a fungus as well, but just keep an eye out for it. If you have any further questions, let me know, and I'll try my best to walk you through it 👍🏾

    Love your videos. So I will be moving into my new construction home in May 2024. I want to make sure I’m feeding the yard properly. So beginning May do I put the fertilizer down first or the pre emergent? If I’m putting fertilizer down May, June, July and September. When do I put down pre emergent and post emergent? When can I first mow it?

  • @PoloFieldsLawnService

    @PoloFieldsLawnService

    3 ай бұрын

    First, let me start off by saying congratulations on your new home. I hope that you enjoy it and have great memories for years to come. So im assuming that you have tall fescue at your new construction home. Here's what you need to do. First, mow your lawn and make sure that your blade is sharp before your first mow. Second, fertilize and apply your Pre-emergent. You can apply both of them at the same time. If you're using Scott's brand "Halts," that's a homogenized prill, so you will be applying both at the same time anyway. Third, if you see any weeds in the lawn, SPRAY THEM. Your next Pre-emergent application will be in September, so don't miss that one. Hope this helps 🙏🏾

    Great Tips! Question: Are you recommending putting down a Crabgrass Pre Emergent that has NO fertilizer or applying Halts (or other brand Pre Emergent with fertilizer) at a lighter setting?

  • @PoloFieldsLawnService

    @PoloFieldsLawnService

    3 ай бұрын

    I normally will apply my Pre-emergent and fertilizer separately, but Scott's Halts or another fertilizer that has a pre-emergent in it is all that you have, you can apply that to kill 2 birds with one stone. Depending on where you live and what grass type you have, I normally don't apply my fertilizer until the grass is growing. That's why I apply them separately because getting your pre-emergent down first is the most important thing. Hope this helps 👍🏾

    Coming into the spring, I would go at a lower rate. You have to take into consideration that once the temperatures rise, the lawn receives sunlight and rain, the grass is going to wake up on its own. Throwing a lot of nitrogen down could put you in a position where you're cutting a lot and could also induce a fungus if you apply too much fertilizer once temperatures rise.

    1:53 that’s not saying 2.67lbs of nitrogen, it’s 2.67lbs of overall product. It’s only 0.8# of N per 1000 with a 30-0-4 analysis. 2.67# of N would probably burn the whole lawn in one dose

  • @PoloFieldsLawnService

    You're absolutely right, John. I made that correction by typing .80 lbs of nitrogen per 1,000 sqft at the bottom of the screen in the video before the video uploaded. Apparently, it didn't upload correctly. I'll try to add that if I can. If it won't let me add it, I'll put it in the comments. Appreciate you, John 👍🏾
