@@VSCNDED I get what you mean, and with many religions everyone tends to take it quite literally, but I find Christianity’s to be quite chill than other religions taking stuff seriously. About the Bible being rewritten, I concur as today you see it all the time, but a while back they uncovered the Dead Sea Scrolls, which we can use today to check the true reliability of the Bible, and compare it to more older versions. This stuff gets really like in depth and I don’t study the Bible much so I’m not the one to talk to about this lol, very interesting to talk about though since there’s a lot of possibilities when religions are like 2,000 to 3,000 years old.

I am a historian & secularist but still, there are errors here. The Beast-from-the-Sea is obviously the Antichrist, while the Beast-coming-out-from-Earth is the ‘False Prophet.’ This gets that wrong. Imagine a Hollywood apocalypse movie everything is pretty much ended, but there's a functioning roving group/band and they will trade with you but only if you join them. It's been on screen in mad max, water world, even judge dredd where the surviving "clan" requires a allegiance of some type and a id to get in and live a somewhat normal life. Its totally plausible

JW are specially guilty of this, they derived from a protestant group who was always making guesses about the date of Christ's return... then they changed it into not a physical return, but a "presence"... religions have generally more retcons than expected. But to be fair, many christian religions doesn't believe in dates, as a kid, I believed in a very oppressive christian religion (7th Day Adventists) and they always made it clear: not even the angels know when this is going to happen, that's why they are "always ready" (in theory).

But then (unless all jewish lineage prophets are all hoaxes) chosen men of god all claimed "they heard him talk to them" .... so .... It could be argued from the beginning not to trust any man who claimed to know something so high/mystical. Why believe him & him alone? Of course people did not understand most of the world. So it perhaps was obviously very easy to believe someone on such a strange perception. Dreams "meant" things. Even though scientifically dream DO that does not prove "prophets" or any religious chosen correct. Because if one can make error. (Like all humans can.) How can we be right or correct? The only way to prove god to me. And make me believe (not follow- just acknowledge god is real) is if god itself reveals itself to the physical tangible very real-5sensed world I live in. By the rules of the bible I would be going to hell mostly anyway unless God gives us another chance. Which I feel trapped in the dichotomy of a place of burning and a place of holy endentured servile zealous slavery. I think i'll choose Hell.

Hey, man. I know I'm a little late to the party, but I wanted to clarify some things. First of all, great work! As a Christian, I thought this was a fairly clear summary of what the book of Revelation says. As you mentioned some of the text is meant to be taken figuratively and some of it is meant to be taken literally. Also, there are other aspects of the Biblical apocalypse that are not in the book of Revelation, but are in other prophetic books, such as Daniel and Isaiah, so this is not the absolute complete picture of what we Christians believe is to come. Also, when it comes to Biblical prophecies, they have a tendency to refer to multiple different time frames. For example, if a prophet talked about a king or an empire falling (not specific), then an event like it would likely happen in the prophet's lifetime and then a similar event would also occur after the prophet had died. It's an interesting phenomenon. So while, in a way, Nero could have been the "antichrist" equivalent in John's lifetime and some of these events happened during that time, but that was not the true apocalypse. (I'm sure you recognized this). Second, Revelation is not necessarily a one-to-one timeline of events. Some of the things are meant to represent events that have already happened (the dragon trying to eat the child of the woman crowned with twelve stars is meant to represent Jesus' death and resurrection (i think)). Others could be happening now and others will happen in the future and some of them may happen simultaneously. It's not the clearest book when it comes to timeline, but that just adds to the idea that only God knows the day and the hour. Three, (this one is unconsequential) I noticed that you said that the armies of the earth would come to fight each other at the valley of Megiddo, but the text actually says that they all join together to fight against the armies of God which is why we get the depiction of the blood flowing for something like 3 miles up to a horse bridle. This is interesting too becuase Napoleon Bonaparte once implied that the valley would have been the perfect place for the largest battle in history. Four (sorry i have a lot of points that I wanted to add), the book of Revelation is accredited to the Apostle John (the one who wrote the gospel of John). Five, I noticed that you said that scholars claimed that the book had been edited, which is likely not true. While the book has been copied, if it was included in the canon determined by the Council of Nicea then there were multiple different copies that had all said the exact same thing or similar enough things that they could determine what the original text actually said. That becomes a discussion of Canonicity and how the canon was determined. And I'm pretty sure that my comment is long enough as it is, but I'd be happy to explain if anyone is interested.

The beast with 7 heads and 10 horns coming up out of the waters, multi-headed means political, singular is religious (being the anti-christ which is Satan). 7 dominions throughout the earth, 10 kings/world leaders, the waters are the people expecting to be raptured, for it will be as in the days of Noah, those who are taken abide under God's wrath. False messiah comes 1st in Rev. 12 Satan and the fallen angels will be cast to earth, he is the son of perdition (perdition means to be put to death, he is the only 1 who has already been judged). The harlot, the woman spoken of is that great city Babylon, babel=confusion (Satan is the author of confusion), God said "to come out of her. It's not until the son of perdition, after the 2nd woe, on the 7th trumpet is when Jesus returns, the Lord's Day (that 1000yr period, the day John was taken to, even past where were at now), when Jesus returns the dead will rise and we will all (meaning everyone to have ever lived) be in the spirit. Yeshua Messiah will reign here on in the new Heaven in the earth till the Great White Throne judgement, then Satan will be let loosed a little while because God is fair and everyone will have a chance and they will be tested by him and some will still even then choose to follow/worship Satan. God is that consuming, you don't burn in Hell forever and ever, your name is blotted out, no longer existing, period, all souls return to whenst they came. The mark of beast in the forehead are those without the seal of God in their foreheads (meaning the truth), the mark on their hand are those doing the work of the beast, not a tattoo of 666 or a computer chip implanted. The 1st beast received a deadly wound on 1 of it's heads, a disagreement via the supernatural entity being Satan when he is cast out of Heaven entirely will come to solve the problem (world peace), no nations to wage war against 1 another we/they will all be as 1, a 1 world rule, under Satan (the beast system). The religious beast who was out of the earth (dust/ made flesh) and cast to the earth, the anti-christ isn't a man, it's Satan (looks like a lamb, spake like a dragon). He exercises all the powers of the 1st beast (to take advantage, coming to make peace), and when the dragon healed the wound of the 1st beast, all worshipped it (trample like cattle). Churches will become the harlot and whore after her, and oh how so difficult it will be to speak/preach against peace/ the wound was by the sword and it is truth, for they/ the world will hate you/us for standing on God's Word till the end. Satan uses men, the churches will do the work for him, they'll think your preaching against Jesus, our Messiah to come. Amen.

I think it’s interesting how detailed John is in writing revelation. He’s so precise it really seems like by the way it written someone actually wrote down what they saw

From what I learn is that great silence in Heaven is because there is no one around. That silence is because Jesus and the whole Heaven is coming to the Earth for Hi's Second Coming. You know those pictures you see on google with the scene? I think it's extremely underestimated. If the bible says that the whole Heaven will be silent and if the interpretation says that the whole angels will come on Earth then the whole sky from north to east and west to east it's gonna be lit like it would be daylight. A very bright day.

Its not necessarily Shine On. Its a different track made from a royalty free music maker whose listed in description but I can’t blame you for thinking it is Shine On. It’s basically the same melody and ambient synth so the guy probably just copied that and took away the parts of the synth melody and made it drone on

A note about the timing of the biblical apocalypse from a Christian: Jesus explicitly said (Matt 24:36) that literally nobody but God knows when the end of the world is. So the funny thing is that anyone who *tried* to predict the Second Coming is technically a heritic, because the point is that we aren’t supposed to know, and I doubt God would relinquish that information to anyone before it had started in earnest.

Something even more funny: Because it says, "No man knows the day nor the hour." That gives us a lot of power to choose the time it'll happen. If we just convince ourselves everyday, that this is the day revelation will happen, then someone other than god knows that that day will be the start of the end. So basically, the end will happen when no one predicts that the end will happen.

We're not meant to know the times, but we're ordered to be vigilant of the events so when the times come we will be preppared. Many of the prophecies have already been fulfilled. And if you take into account the Catholic prophecies of the end of the Church... it's even clearer what times we're living in.

Have you actually ready the old testament? Old testament god isbest described as an intemperate, vain, narcissistic psychopath (and that's being charitable) . If he were actually ever to turn up we would all be doomed. And not in a nice fluffy, living on a cloud sort of way.

@@insertclevernamehere2506 Isaiah 45:7 "I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things." I mean, it's not like he's trying to hide it. But I wouldn't say he's ALL evil considering the new testament exists as well. You can't really deny that he did anything good in OT either, right? I'm not saying we should ignore all the atrocities either, but maybe we shouldn't pick and choose how we perceive God based on only half of what we read?

@@Mrhellslayerz The reason why people choose to focus on that half is because that half is still important. Many would rather pretend like the old testament doesn't exist and that's why it keeps getting quoted. If there's only one god, a god who was able to bring hell upon the earth, why should that critical piece of information be overlooked? The message we get is "Do what I say, or this is what will happen". The "new" testament wasn't the first. It was born from the old one. That's why it's still relevant. What's the purpose of something if you'd rather avoid focusing on where it came from?

@@loutenant2817 Of course it's still important. I wasn't saying it should be left out. But it's incredibly ironic that Christianity gets criticized for only talking about the New testament, yet the Old Testament is all that's ever brought up when I see most Atheists talk about the Bible. Wouldn't it be better to rise above the thing you're criticizing, not to copy it? How can anyone say God is all good or all evil when you don't talk about both sides? Hell, the verse I just brought up is taken out of the Old Testament. Maybe we shouldn't pick and choose how we perceive God based on only half of what we read?

I love how everyone in those comments, despite religion, race and gender, come together to agree how dope the Christian lore is.

We're actually studying this in class! The writers actually hid religious truths about Jesus's coming and stuff that the oppressive governments wouldn't allow. Very cool stuff, I'd recommend looking up eschatology if you're interested.

@@ssroudyss9432 The word believe is more than what you think it is, It means to give your life to Christ, It means giving all of our worries and problems to him and trusting in him alone, He came down to die for our sins, So the next time he comes he won't be saving anyone again, See even after ppl refuse to follow him he gives them a last chance who they rather follow, By this time ppl will already know the Gospel and hear all the warnings about hell and sin, They have free will to choose who they want to follow, See hell was never made for man, It was made for the devil and his demons, If a man goes to hell he went there by his own free will, The reason why we have so much pain and suffering today, It's bc of free will, Man chooses to sin and follow the devil, Sin brings death, Jesus came and lived a sinless life, He came to take our punishment so we can turn away from our sins and not be a slave of the devil. Even after ppl were warned they still refused God, This generation is not afraid of hell, Even the demons are scared of hell, They hate it there, They cry out in pain, In hell ppl are raped, And there is no air in hell, There will be a lake of fire and ppl will be buying in hell for all eternity, The demons don't want to go yet ppl don't believe, Even after all of that God gave them a second chance to choose, Either to take the mark or refuse it. what’s interesting is that the “holy holy holy the Lord God the Almighty, who was and is and is to come” hymn is one of the call & responses that the preacher would do with us during traditional sunday service at my Methodist church i went to as a kid

this makes war look like the most peaceful things ever

As a Christian this is probably the hardest book to comprehend as I haven’t heard any pastor explain the book in this great of detail. I just read revelation and I don’t even remember where the tribulation takes place in all of this. I’m assuming it happens before all the disasters on earth

Explaining this book requires very deep understanding of end time texts and profound spiritual revelation. The tribulation period (in my understanding) begins at chapter 4 when John is taken to heaven. That's why all these disasters are happening on earth

The book of Revelation is not hard to understand if you understand that it's not about the end of the world but the end of the old covenant. All the events in it have already taken place, they are not things we are awaiting to happen. Hence why in the very first verse Jesus said these things will shortly take place, meaning in the first century.

The Revelation of Jesus Christ 1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants--things which must shortly take place. Christ is giving His servants a revelation of things which must shortly come to pass. How is 2000 plus years later shortly come to pass? It's not. 3 Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near. In verse 3 we have another time statement that the time for these events were near for them. How is 2000 plus years later near? It's not. The verse also says blessed are they who read the words of the prophecy and keep the things that are in it. How did it bless those to whom it was written to in the first century if it had absolutely nothing to do with them? 4 John, to the seven churches which are in Asia:Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne, Revelation was written to the 7 churches in Asia. How was it applicable to the 7 churches in Asia that no longer exist if it had nothing to do with them? 7 Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen. How are they who pierced Him supposed to see Him if they died over 2000 years ago? Now if Christ came in the 1st century then they could have seen Him. 9 I, John, both your brother and companion in the tribulation and kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was on the island that is called Patmos for the word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. Ironic that John tells them He was their brother and companion in the tribulation. Meaning it was presently occurring, not some event 2000 plus years later.

Human beings do it for fallen soldiers. So why wouldn't God do it for the unrepentant sinners who have denied salvation till the very end. After all, you may as well be dead when you reject God because to reject him is to reject life itself, that includes the very spirit that is responsible for our existance. Those sinners will get their wish because the lake of fire exists for this one purpose.

I’m Christian as well but I always stayed away from the book of Revelations because I was too scared lol
