Surfing and Exploring the Medina of Essaouira, Morocco 🇲🇦: FionnOnTheRoad Episode 17
Essaouira is a town well known for its surfing, specifically wind surfing with the non stop gusts of wind billowing off the Atlantic. It was made all the more famous after Jimi Hendrix spent almost two weeks here back in 1969, as well as several other famous artists and musical groups including The Wailers in 2004, and unconfirmed rumours of The Rolling Stones and Frank Zappa. With Essaouira’s relaxed beach vibe and lyric inspiring natural beauty, it comes as no surprise that artists use this charming city to come up with fresh ideas.
Regardless of its significance in musical history, Essaouria is a charming little port town on the Atlantic coast with much more to offer. Many people will use it as a base for multi-day surfing excursions to Taghazout and Agadir, or renting a quad bike and ripping around the sand dunes that make up this stretch of the Moroccan coast. I spent my time in Essaouira unwinding after the hustle and bustle of Marrakech, and then attempting surfing and finally exploring the fish market, teeming with the day's fresh catch. Lastly I managed to catch the tail end of the Gnaoua festival, and listened to some captivating traditional Moroccan tunes. So stick around until the end of the video, you don’t want to miss a thing!

I was waiting for you to upload ! Love your vibe ! Essaouira is less chaotic and more relaxed than Marrakech I think you’ll love it . Essaouira is where green tea was first introduced in Africa thanks to the English merchants back in the 1700’s ( Essaouira was like the main Emporium of the Kingdom before Casablanca) Enjoy your trip !

Yay new video! I left a comment in your previous video I dunno if you saw it. But ill ask again here. How was customs coming into Morocco from spain? What was your experience?
@fotr
2 жыл бұрын
Hey, I thought I answered it but it’s possible I missed it, there were a ton of comments! Customs was extremely easy for me, all I needed was my passport and to fill out a health declaration form while on the ferry. I don’t remember needing to show my proof of vaccination but I think I was asked on the form if I had been vaccinated. All in all, I didn’t wait for more than 10 min at a time

Hello! 👋
👌❤️🧡👍🌹🥰🙏
I would say It's a good thing you went around with a local, its allright if you paid 50 dhs, just not more. You woulnt have gotten all that information for free, and you can be sure those 5 dollars werent mis-spent by him, as all those people earn around 200-300$ a month and have a huge family to feed
@fotr
2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I totally agree, which is why I still paid him. $5 to me isn’t a huge deal but I hope it helped that man out a lot, and like you said he gave me a ton of information that I never knew!

@@fotr I don't like such things, to take advantage of people and show them around for money, he is not a guide tourists so why take money and he told at the beginning no money, I just don't like it, we all having bad days to find our ways to get money but not this way, it happens in all cities when they see foreigners from other countries or from other cities as well they do the same, and you get shy and he is super friendly but at the end he asks for money, no thank you, I hope next time you just walk away and tell them no, I m Moroccan and I don't like it, it happened to us as well during vacation and I know it happens to a lot of tourists, not cool
