The REAL ESSAOUIRA, Morocco 🇲🇦

Essaouira / الصويرة - Once one of the major Atlantic commercial centres between Africa and Europe and now a wonderful seaside town with a vibrant fishing port.
It's got a beautiful and busy medina with wind swept ramparts that were the scene of the 'Walk of Punishment' in Astapor in Game of Thrones.
A place with amazing food that you can easily spend a few days or even weeks in.
It's also next door to the little town of Diabat - Famous for Jimi Hendrix never going there!
In this vlog I'll show you why you should be including Essaouira and Diabat on your Morocco itinerary.
If you like this and want to see a lot more of the food, be sure to check out the companion video here:

Glad you liked it! I preferred Essaouira for its smaller town vibe, it’s really different to Agadir! I don’t remember exactly how much the lobster cost, but I think it was somewhere around 40 Euros. A lot cheaper than having something like that at home and it was genuinely really good! I made a food video of Essaouira on my other channel Nosebaggin if you want to see more from there

Really impossible to say, it depends what you personally are looking for - I love both! Essaouira is more relaxed, walkable and a great seaside vibe. Tangier is a bigger city, vibrant and with interesting history. Both have great food in their own ways and I made videos of the food in both on my other channel. You'll have an amazing time whichever you choose!

I think the bill came to around 60 Euros or so for the lobster, sides and a small additional course, shared between 2 people. Cheap by European standards but of course more expensive than what I would normally eat in Morocco. Please don’t make assumptions that price is no limitation to me, that was a one off treat.
