“Statistically speaking flying is still the safest way to travel.” Chris says that line and then delivers the trademark smile when walking away. Still and will always be my favorite Superman ever.

i was 15 when this movie hit the theaters - amazing experience to watch this scene in the dark with hundreds of strangers - no one had ever seen such an incredible action sequence before - everyone was literally on the edge of their seats - and when Superman swooped up and caught Lois in mid-air I'll never forget how everyone in the theater could not stop themselves from clapping and cheering

I was 4 years old when this movie came out but I remember my dad renting this movie for the first time and I fell in love with this movie. Now I am 45 years old and I have all 4 Superman movies Reeve did and I thoroughly enjoy this movie and the sequels. I wish if he had lived and walked again he could've been Jor El in Man Of Steel and I wish he was reunited with Anette O'Toole who he worked with in Superman 3 and Tom Welling on Smallville plus a scene with him and Michael Rosenbaum would've been so kriffing awesome. I am still conviced that even though he played a scientist named Virgil Swann on Smallville seasons 2 and 3 that he was actually Jor El or a Kryptonian who survived the apocalypse of Krypton because how on earth would a billionaire scientist know Clark Kent's birth name and where he came from?

I remember seeing this in the cinema with my dad, who laughed at Clark Kent's reaction to the telephone booth. As Clark ran across the street and ripped his shirt open revealing the 'S' , the whole cinema (including my dad and I) cheered. One of my favourite childhood memories

@@dancastro4732 I saw a special re-release of Superman in the theatre 2 years for it's 40th. They presented as it was that year, no special dolby surround or anything, just it's raw original form. I was with friends. Their must have been 15 people in the theatre at the most. But it was magical. Waited my whole life to see it in the theatres in it's original form, I was only a year old when it first came out so I missed it then. Awesome!

There is a Super (pun intended) clever shot hardly anyone is aware of in that movie. After that "can you read my mind" sequence there was a continuous shot showing superman flying off and Clark knocking on the door a few seconds later and coming in with no edits. They basically has a rear projection of Superman flying off with Lois in the foreground they pan over and eventualy come to the door with Clark coming in. A simple effect that nobody really noticed.

This the first and frankly still the best Superman movie and choice for Superman. Chris Reeve was 6ft 4 and while also handsome Henry Cavill isn't this tall and doesn't have the same screen presence. To play the iconic superhero people needed to be overwhelmed and mesmerized. Reeve delivered big time. The rest of the cast was a match made in heaven. Ahead of its time and one of a kind Superman (1978) is film magic!

The first film I ever remember watching. The film builds up to this first reveal, the subtle rescues (bullet catch in the alley), and it really pays off from 0:35 onwards. The casual walk out, and look up to see Lois hanging from the helicopter. Then the sudden change in character, and the signature music theme begins to build. And what a theme. I remember the feeling of excitement as a kid, we're finally going to see Superman. And it's still there rewatching this scene. Best superhero reveal scene to this day.

Ionic scene!!! Chris Reeve was the best Superman because of many great attributes mentioned on here, but he also played a distinct CLARK KENT. The dichotomy is the formula for a great Superman. Everyone else's take on Clark was just a suit and glasses whereas CR was a different person when he was Clark.

If Christopher Reeve‘s close friend,Robin Williams, visited him in the hospital after hearing that he fell off the horse in 1995,he must‘ve cried whether on the outside or the inside after seeing him there. The 1st Superman movie was released in theaters the same year that the science-fiction sitcom series Mork & Mindy, starring Robin Williams & Pam Dawber aired.
