    The reason twins are often used to play one character is cause child labor laws prevented kids under a certain age to be limited to a certain amount of acting which counted as work so they often had twins or triplets to quickly swap them out to continually shoot without breaking those laws. I learned about that in a video about the Olsen twins and what playing Michelle tanner was like for them

The one on the far left on the cover.

    I'm sure someone has explained this in the last year already, but just in case; union rules and labor laws dictate that child can only work a certain number of hours in a day (3 or 4 I think), so using twins lets them spend more time filming each day and get more done.

    The fact that they're all twins and triplets is super common in film and television and it's for legal reasons. On film sets there are strict rules on how long a child actor can work plus time that must be spent with a tutor to continue their education while working. Plus they need time for hair, make up and costuming. This means you only have a few good hours to shoot which, on movies with one or two kids, is fine cause you can spend the rest of the day shooting with the adult characters but on sets with primarily kids in the script that really limits the scheduling abilities of the film. Hiring crew, renting equipment, dealing with locations, it's a hassle already meaning you have to make the most out of your filming days and abiding by a child actors schedule would mean shorter days, MONTHS of filming and insanely high budgets. But with twins, one can be on set while the other is in tutoring or taking a break. Triplets increase your time effectiveness even more, so the crew can keep doing 12-15 hour days while the kids can stick to their shorter hours. Tada!

    I imagine for most orphans, reuniting with the parents that abandoned them as children so young that they can't remember them it is very awkward and not "oh my god, you're my mom I love you" like Kurtis said. They probably already have people they see as their family and I know if I was in that situation the first two things I'd be asking is: "what happened/why did you abandon me?" (in case it's justified) and "what's changed/why do you deserve to be a part of my life now". Because if it's "I was really poor and desperate, I didn't want my child to have to go through the same thing I have to, but now I'm stable I just couldn't stop thinking about what happened to you I just needed to find and see how my child turned out and offer them support now that I actually can" THEN I'd start being all friendly and stuff. If they just didn't want a child at the time but now they're curious or some shit, no. feck off, if you didn't wanna raise me you don't deserve me.

  • @pap-fr

    Adoption does not make someone a bad person even if the reason IS just not wanting a child. And no, a parent cannot decide to suddenly want the kid and pop into their life. They are by law not allowed to contact the child after giving it for adoption. It is the child and the child alone who has the right to decide whether they want to reach out to the parents or not. You sign away parental rights the moment the baby is given up and you cannot then get it back because you "felt like it", LMAO...

  • @lemolea9571

    @lemolea9571

    @@pap-fr No, giving a child that you don't want up for adoption is far better than just not caring for or not being able to adequately care for the child, but I doubt many orphans would see it that way, I never said people who give up their children for adoption are bad people. Though I'd argue if you don't want children you shouldve gotten an abortion in the first place, it's probably kinder. Also this scenario was within the context of the video, I know the parent does give up rights to their child including visitation, however that wouldn't stop them from trying to find them online or as and adult etc if they really wanted to
