@@forhisneutralspecialhewiel2295 Akuma is added to CE by adding 8 new alts to Ryu, and then map those 8 alts to a new slot in the CSS, and then making Akuma those new alts. Meaning Akuma is just a modification of Ryu, without removing Ryu. But since they have a lot of similar moves and animations already, it wasn't the same as adding a fully original fighter

I would go insane if Akuma really got in, my dude has been in Tekken so it would be sick if he seeked a challenge in Smash.

I've loved the concept of Akuma for so long, and I would absolutely lose my shit if he was added to smash. I hope they do what they did with Steve: giving a character multiple skins but having the exact same moveset just for some good fan service

@@jayfarias8440 lol akuma is from street fighter... hes the big bad in one of the anime movies, akuma is one of the former students of ken and Ryu's master. akuma decided to let go of humanity and give into the dark hado, which basically turned him into an immortal demon...... akuma also has ties to tekken as well via kazuyas mother, but im not exactly sure how that lore plays out.

Forget Steve, they should have put Akuma in the game. Akuma vs Sephiroth? Good lord.

i honestly think that the trailer being a match with Ryu, Ken, Terry and Kazuya all fighting before Akuma tries to do a dive kick on Kazuya (like Tekken 7) before he is revealed would be more dope, but it honestly looks awesome

Seeing this and that one Waluigi mod, I can say Fighter Pass 3 is (unofficially) happening

They couldn't have have done this in the first place putting akuma as their 3rd street fighter character

It’s double tap either forward or backward + shield, teleport doesn’t become intangible until like f15 so it’d suuuuuck as a roll haha. I would’ve made it dp + shield but because of how inputs get processed, I thought just piggybacking off the double tap input would be easier for the game to handle

-Gohadouken (豪波動拳) means "Great Surge Fist" -Goshoryuken (豪昇龍拳) means "Great Rising Dragon Fist" -Tatsumaki Zankukyaku (竜巻斬空脚) means "Tornado Slashing Air Leg" -Zanku Hadouken (斬空波動拳) means "Slashing Air Surge Fist" -Ashura Senku (阿修羅閃空) means "Asura Flashing Air"

So you managed to mod in Akuma without replacing anyone? Does that mean adding characters to Ultimate by modding is possible now?

Nah he has a couple unique weaknesses: - Both Shotos were sped up slightly while Akuma uses base Ryu’s speed - Akuma can’t Hado hover - There’s a universal dash shortening tech I added that Akuma can’t use (partly because the input would mess with his teleport, but also for balance) - He takes 1.2x damage from everything

I used a combination of blender and notepad to make the animations (notepad was just for copying keyframes from one move onto another, like light dtilt), and for all of the custom code, I used visual studio

Nah I got burnt out from this (the mod this was for was a balance mod and people kind of lost sight of it so it didn’t feel worth it anymore) and I moved on to developing a completely original fighting game instead lol

How do you make one piece of music play in a different map? For example Ken Stage Type A in that first map because only that song is only restricted in Suzaku Castle or just those playable smash bros stages (battlefield, FD, ykwim). It kinda sucks.

This looks incredible! The future is looking bright for Smash Ultimate mods. I wonder how Akuma was added in without replacing anyone? That's truly amazing. @Shieldlesscap if you're reading this, is it also possible to add in a wholly original, non-clone character without replacing anyone now, too? Also, what do you think the limit of characters you could theoretically add is?

It is possible, but it’s considerably more tedious. Technically speaking, the game thinks that both Ryu and Akuma are Ryu, but Ryu’s model contains a second set of models in it, and when you pick the Akuma CSS slot, the game loads in the second model instead of the main one. Same goes for animations, audio, etc. It’s POSSIBLE to make unique characters and I’m planning to do that (although lately I’ve been working on a completely independent fighting game and combined with college I haven’t had much time to work on CE haha), but rewriting their statuses so as not to interfere with the original character’s behavior is a little difficult. That, and without the ability to add files, you need to use a base character that has just as many animations as the one you want to add. As for how many characters you can theoretically add, iirc the CSS has a hard limit of how many slots it can take before the game crashes trying to load the CSS, but I don’t know what that limit is off the top of my head. That aside, we can technically make a new slot for every character we use as a base (or more if you want to stack 3 characters, but at that point the game is holding onto 2 invisible models per character which is definitely enough to start lagging the game)

Wow, that sounds like a lot of work. ESPECIALLY with college on top of that. Hmm, I wonder how 2 characters sharing a slot would make 8-Player Smash run. So, if you tried to theoretically added an additional fighter to every character slot, you're only limit would be the CSS. That makes the future of Ultimate modding have a lot of potential! I have a feeling that the next Smash is going to be very different, so this way the community can keep the biggest crossover going a little bit longer! Hey, I've been considering going into game development myself. I have spent a LOT of time researching different resources, both from the software and hardware side of things. If you'd like, I'd love to share my findings with you, if you think it'd help! Either way, I will be wishing you the best with your college life, and with your game development journey, whether it's continuing Smash modding, developing your own game, or both!

People are saying that Akuma has a unique slot, but I’m not finding any footage of it on the matter and I’m not up to modding my own Switch to find out. Can anyone upload footage of him fighting Ryu and Ken? Would really appreciate it.

Don’t have footage on hand but yes Akuma has his own slot. Basically, I add a slot to the CSS that’s “Ryu, but with a different name tag”, and if you’re playing as “Ryu but your name tag says Akuma”, load a different model, animations etc. Funnily enough though, Ryu, Ken and Akuma are actually all present in this video, during the scene where Akuma attacks Ganon! Ken is just invisible (I put him there so the camera wouldn’t pan over to Akuma before he became visible)

tl;dr: Originally we were gonna have both designs as alts, but that would require 3 different models all on one file and that’s too much for the game to handle. We can’t add files so doing it this way is the only way to add a newcomer.
