his whole character is based on Shouten Doji, character from japanese folklore. Once noble samurai, who turned into "Oni" after his obsession with combat. Like Shouten Doji, Akuma skin turned dark and his hair turn white.

It's a retcon, sadly. In Alpha 3 Akuma specifically states that it's "not my fists but your past sins" as he teleports his opponent to Hell where they attacked by demons. The more sins committed, the deadlier the attack. Hence the name Instant Hell Murder. Seeing Akuma just punch his victim repeatedly takes the mystique out of it. 😢

I remember someone said that they wished that Akuma's favorite gift is a plushie and he doesn't say anything, just an immediate 40 points to his friendship level. I hope to god that becomes true. (Personally I think it should be some fresh fruits for the 5 point gifts and DEMON BLOOD for his special gift for coolness but I am 100% behind the plushie special gift)

The fact that Akuma has become so powerful that he's desperate for a good fight is probably the best way they could've taken his character. I also love the subtle mannerisms he has now, like actually smiling at the possibility that he has a real fight on his hands to the fact that he almost looks sad after killing his opponent, like he either saw too much in them or it was over too quickly. Either way, it feels like the natural next step for a character who is all about getting stronger, no matter the cost, as what do you have left to accomplish once you've reached the top?

He is The True Master of The Fist or dramatically the Demon of Killing Intent (Akuma Satsui No Hado). Plus if you listen to the english version of his Raging Demon it almost sounds like "To Shake the Heavens, and Reach the Summit, Become The Demon" while I'm sure in Japanese it's worded different but the meaning is the same. Akuma wants a fight to prove worthy of his skill and teaching and outside of Ryu or Ken (if Ken gave into the Satsui No Hado) he has no worth while challenge. Especially since neither of his brother's pupils ended up going down his path but come close to this power.

As annoying as he was in tekken 7 they really did a great job with him both as a fighter and his significance to the story. Geese Howard was also so lovingly recreated and equally as annoying. I hope we get more KOF/SF reps in tekken down the road.

Good lord, he feels like a boss character even more than ever before now. I mean, come on! His intro on both sides is the fog clearing for a grand reveal!

Interesting that after raging demon it says "KO" now. Before, there was always silence after the raging demon which always implied Akuma had killed his opponent. It seems that maybe now, Akuma cares more about a challenge and doesn't necessarily care to kill his opponent.

Literally the G.O.A.T. is back. Street Fighter is incomplete without him. Now I've a reason to buy the game.

The visuals for the Raging Demon attack makes the technique look like a nightmare come to life.

Akuma using teleportation even more than in previous games: "Am I here, or here, or heeere?"

Dude, they not only beefed up Akuma, but we get to see what he does when he uses Raging Demon! Honestly looks more terrifying than the past fade-to-black with the flash of his strikes.

Love how Akuma has become much older now and kinda like an old wise master. Just straight to the point brutality, Akuma feels like kratos in a way if he didn’t have a son and was still the ghost of Sparta but much older and matured

Basically, the raging demon is you being devoured by your own demons. Thousands and thousands, might be more depending on what kind of person you are. And of course, there is no worse demon to do it than Akuma.

Rather, it seems the other way around. The one who USES the Raging Demon is giving into his demons for some sort of ultimate attack. You hear Akuma saying "Ascend the heavens, become the demon" etc. which is likely in reference to himself. It's basically the user overpowering someone with their killing intent it seems

I love the stage. There's a lot of tones in buddhist and zen buddhism where Asura have either broken faces or heads. That statue in the background who I assume Akuma destroyed, just looks so sick. He's an asura himself, a god of war and strife, jealousy, and killer-intent.

There are multiple Asuras in buddhism(at least in theravada school) with different names and power since they used to be an old Gods that got pushed out of heaven by the current Gods.

Out of everyone in street fighter, Akuma always caught my attention. He's my favorite character, I remember seeing him with a Japanese letter/word on his back and it stucked in my mind till now. (Never played the game tho)

akuma is one of the coolest characters in all of fighting games

From watching this trailer, I think it’s safe to conclude that Akuma is just as awesome as we all expected him to be. My favorite part: seeing what Akuma actually does to his opponent during the Raging Demon. I love the idea that it’s him creating a bunch of shadow clones of himself that all strike his opponent in rapid succession. It’s way cooler than what SFV showed.

I think the best mix of that would be showing the shadow clones and the first few seconds, then as the clones close the distance, that’s when the screen turns black and you see the hit sparks
