@super broly cos their lineout is average and the crus set piece was on (the result showed that even if there was an infringement or not). After all is said and done, the call was far from 100%..... I'm gonna go with 49%

I don't understand why the TMO isn't brought in at the last lineout? Its an absolute mess and the decision decides the result, there's absolutely no way the referee sees what happened. That has to be referred surely? The point of having a TMO is so that games like this aren't prematurely awarded to one team or the other based on a 50/50 decision

Seems a fair call. Was hurricanes ball and there was a rabble, they took it in and couldn’t get it back. Ref couldn’t say there was hands on the floor etc coz it was a fair competition. Improve the set piece this doesn’t happen.

It's a penalty to the Hurricanes in my mind, The Canes player catches it and goes straight to ground so it's not a maul and crusaders not rolling, unlucky on the crusaders because in that situation it's impossible to roll but that should be the call not full time.

Seriously? TMOs aren't there to rule on 50/50 calls although the final call wasn't 50/50. Clear contested line-out shut down by Crusaders. End of.

Ardie has no brains as a leader only good for running straight, Sam Cane is just as thick and with Foster coaching, a man thicker than a Taubmans can of paint, safe to bet on QF exit for ABs at WC.

The 3 points was the right decision even without hindsight, Canes lineout had been below average all night, there was a good chance they would lose it.

Watching these highlights from the UK and very surprised at the decisions going the Crusaders way. The deliberate knock on not a yellow? The man taken out in the air at lineout, then maul collapsed and killing the ball....not a penalty? Great highlights to watch though! :-)

@@lukec2226 That's just whataboutism regarding alleged incidents that did not make the highlights reel. But talking about things that we actually saw here, there were several things in this video that had me scratching my head; the deliberate knock down should have been a yellow card and the Crusaders jumped across the line in the final lineout and then collapsed the maul. The referee looked completely shell shocked and the Crusaders (from what we saw on the highlights reel!!!!!) took full advantage of his reluctance to make a decision.

@@heapez5273 The Crusaders jumped through the line and landed on the support players; that's a penalty in the Northern Hemisphere, not sure about SR, don't know the details of the rules there. That's not to say that's why the Hurricanes lost, but if I was one of their supporters i'd be pretty pissed off at that particular decision.

@@heapez5273 Speaking as a neutral, and with ONLY the benefit of watching this highlights reel, there were two decisions that made my jaw drop; the deliberate knock down not being yellow carded and the shitfest of that final lineout. Crusaders player jumped across the line (sanction penalty), plays the man in the air (sanction penalty) and then when the catcher goes straight to ground, aka no maul formed, same player does not roll away (sanction penalty). This is not about the Crusaders, this is a simple summary of three penalties that could have been, should have been, but were not awarded. Any team, including the Crusaders, would rightfully feel aggrieved at being on the receiving end of such an obvious lack of decisiveness from a referee.

@@Karma-qt4ji the highlights do not do the game justice. You need to watch the whole before making comments like that. Ref performance was poor on calls for both teams. As far as those penalities go, I disagree.

This is why decision-making is critical and should've taken the 3 points. The lineout wasn't even easy to fall for.

I feel Ardie got the decision wrong should've taken it to extra time, still a chance to win. Crusaders definitely looking shaky. Need to smarten up, Blues next week.

The defense on Blackadder's try was not good. He got thru at least 2 defenders on a pretty simple carry

What exactly is the ruling at the end there? Looks like the ball goes straight to ground and the Saders players laying all over it. Is he saying it was a contested possession and that's why it's a scrum restart? No way it's a collapsed maul.

Call was both players had the ball in the air, therefore a) no penalty for taking out in the air, and b) both had rights to attempt to place the ball (noone could be called for playing on the ground and not rolling away), then both packs drove in so an unplayable ball was called.. it wasn't going to come out of there in a hurry

Scott Barrett has a habit and that costs his team when caught, other teams when they lose. And we all lose value in fair sportsmanship. Hope he can change his ways and not cost the AB's again - but I fear once a grub always a grub. Just look at that last look straight into the camera.

My understanding is, it isn't ruled this way if he had his hands on the ball, which he does have at least for a bit.

Typical Crusaders getting away with cheating. The refs can’t allow NZ rugbys flagship franchise to lose. That last call was one of the more blatant examples but they get the rub every game they play.

Ended with a bad call from the referee! Barrett obviously killing the ball, which would have been a penalty again, rather than a fulltime call! Agree with Ardie at the end with his speech! Could of played that out again, then penalty try possibly if it continued!

I don't understand the last call at all. Shame it decided the game. Forget the blatant jumping across and possible play in the air... Ardie went straight to the ground (no maul), Crusaders player didn't roll away and sealed the ball. Not sure where the scrum call came from.

In the line out Ardie clearly had two hands on the ball first and Barrett was trying to hit the ball away not catch it. Barrett then tried to get from Ardie on the way down but it’s already in Ardies possession. Barrett hadn’t stripped it away or anything so it’s Ardies ball when it went to ground and a ruck should have been called

Cory Jane should've stayed in his seat and let Ardie make the decision whether to take the 3 or not.

Dropped the ball and it looked like it was either back or straight down but no knock on. However he did lose possession of the ball and I believe the laws say you can’t play the ball again if you’re at the bottom of the ruck. Not entirely sure.

There`s nothing wrong with ref, time was long finished and no penalty was given, so he has made the right decision. Bad losers stay away.

This comment makes no sense. There was cause for him to at least check with the TMO regarding the last line out. Ardie rarely gets this upset. No penalty was given because Pickerell seemed to want the Saders to win. He missed the knockon before the Saders try that was eventually called by the tmo, but they missed the fact that the guy played it on the ground after losing control, so it should have been a penalty. 45 seconds or so before that, the refs clearly missed an in the side cleanout on Jordie barrett. After the ruled put try they rule a knockon at a ruck against the canes, when the player on the ground never released, which forces the ball out of the canes hands. Then at the lineout later, when julian savea knocks it on, hes well over half way when he knocks in on, but the ref plays the scrum at least 5 meters into canes territory? Fucking questionable reffing in the last 15 mins of this game.
