I'm glad they've been consistent with the high tackle red cards this year...so long as the red cards remain 20 minute sin-bins that is.

I don’t see what the punishment is if the player can come back on to the field after 20 mins. Red cards have got to be a sending off and maybe suspension, number of games dependent on how heinous the violation. If you can come back on in 20 minutes that’s not a deterrent at all really.

@@RichXVIII i dont think the player can come back at all, i just thought the team can replace them with a player from the bench.

These Refs are inconsistent with their interpretation week in week out & that goes for the bunker calls too, might as well play spin the bottle & see what colour it lands on,RED or YELLOW.

That first penalty to Rebels at 1:20 is a joke! Koteka clearly makes the tackle and once his arm is free he rolls to the side the ball is clearly playable and he hasn’t infringed. I found the referee far too whistle happy in the first half. The Yellow for To’omua was harsh in my opinion as well ball carrier clearly on his way down when contact is made. Both teams had a good go just feel the officials were far too involved and ruined the flow of the game.

I've got no investment one way or the other on this one but what I saw was that he stayed holding on and was basically pushed off by the incoming player. I'm ok with the whistle on that one.

That’s a fair point mate he did hold on for a while once the tackle was made. My issue with it it is he didn’t affect the movement of the ball it was more slow reaction than deliberately trying to slow the ball. Some refs would have given that turnover for the Force I guess this ref in particular wanted to be very strict at the breakdown. He penalised what he saw I just feel he was very harsh too many times

  • @Balaskh

I see people asking how the first card was a yellow and not a red. I'd like to ask, how is it a card at all? 10 had poor technique but was not high, and 1 leaned down. Imo it would barely even be a penalty for accidental dangerous contact. Good call with the advantage play and with that red card later on, though.

If what happens at 2:49 happened last week it would have been definitely a red card and NOT a yellow card. Not fairly consistent with handed out cards. One week a swinging arm to the head is a red card and then the next week, the same offence is only a yellow card.

    1. Head clash, 2. Attacker dropped height late. Yellow sufficient. Interpretations of a previous round are irrelevant.

rugby has stoics, who when penalized walk off without comment. Soccer, US football, basketball have whiners who complain, fling their arms every which way like babies. I respect rugby players.

I notice quite a few players are deliberately dropping their heads, to get an opponent sent off . Isnt it about time the rule is bought in , if you deliberately drop your head as the tackler comes in you give away a penalty . Surely the TMO can see this happening , as he is watching the replay

The Rebels might have won but I'd still prefer watch the Force play any day of the week. The Force play exciting football and play to score tries - not to mention they have barely any big name players. The Rebels on the other hand have 6 Wallabies players and still manage to find a way to play the most boring, pathetic brand of rugby I've seen. Also need to change jersey, I'm progressive but facts are facts - pink is not a footy colour
