Bro..the Japanese is next level..lived there for two years after I finished high school..must say..never met more welcoming people..In my first day there I ended up in the wrong city because I took the wrong train...this was at 11 at night..a Japanese couple took me in..gave me a meal and a place to sleep..and wrote a note in Japanese to give to Taxi drivers to where I was going..I'm not sure if it a good thing to mention their surname here but thank you so much Mr&Miss T...I will never forget..I have been back to your house but you moved on and I couldn't get much information from your neighbors..thank you so much

Covering cross field is tricky because if you over accelerate any player can step you. If you're too slow you get beat by pace and speed.(like what Kolbe did)

totally agreed, how SA won.??? with so little territory and possession.. an insanely hostile crowd, a smash 'n grab of epic proportions, arguably the Boks' greatest ever victory- France were sublime, way better than the Boks.

This was the Match of the Tournament for me. I wish this could've been the final😢

As a South African I was very worried in those first few minutes of the game. The speed of that French Maul against us and their rate of attack was crazy. Well done France on an epic game. Cheers 🍻 from 🇿🇦

The most beautiful moment was after the final whistle, the Springboks did not get carried away with celebrations but they embraced and showed respect to the hosts 🇫🇷 who tested them immensely. The magnanimous World Champions 🇿🇦 showed humility.

Players like Dupont, Ntamack (was injured this World Cup), Jalibert, Baille, Penaud, Alldritt, Woki, Flament, Mauvaka and Ramos will still be in good shape the next World Cup. And then they have this incredible flow of talent coming from their U20s who were magnificent the last few years They might be even stronger in the next World Cup.

But I think it would be a different story at knockout game in a world cup coz this team is tailor made for KO rugby. I also think the 2015 All Blacks would have serious problems with that line speed/rush defence plus that versatile kicking game/high ball and ofcoz the scrum/bomb squad. The bag of tricks of this Springbok team is endless.

PLus for that 4 yr cycle there wasn't much in the way of opposition to the ABs (not their fault, but they were never pushed to levels this Bok team were), but the level of competition this time round, meant they would need that bit extra, for when the tank is empty.

Far from the greatest team in Rugby History. 3 unconvincing wins in a world cup final is no bragging right. How many rugby championships / tri-nations?

This was, and is, the greatest rugby game I have ever watched.

I don't usually comment a lot on KZread, but I finally summoned the courage to rewatch this game because as it was happening I knew that it will go down as one of the best games ever played. I was afraid that if I watched it again that the result might change, but luckily it didn't and our (SA) magical run to become champions remains in tact. It's disheartening to see so many rugby fans try to take away and bash our performance/our style/complaining about the refereeing and some being downright nasty to our country and players. These commenters say that we are the worst team to have won it, that we do not play with any style, that we were lucky and that we do not deserve to be champions. Please watch this game again. There will always be elements in rugby that are out of your control. But when I see teams not converting their tries/penalties you are going to have to criticise yourself first for not putting points on the board when things are under your control. France in this game missed out on 4 points with their kicking. There are plenty of great videos showing that Kolbe's chargedown was legit so I don't think there's room to debate that. New-Zealand didn't convert in the final as well, but still some fans are overlooking these instances and jumping straight to the refereeing - the things out of their control. I'm not saying that refereeing shouldn't be criticised, but all teams played under these rules as they were instated. Going forward things might change and the TMO interactions might change, but all teams were playing under these rules as interpreted by the officials. So don't put our Springboks down, 3 points were the difference between three teams that could all have won it. We played some of the highest quality rugby we have ever played and we had the hardest road to a final out of any World Cup thus far. We deserve it, just like France, New Zealand, England also would have deserved it had they won. I would have been sad if we lost, but I would also have accepted it. I would have accepted that there will always be contingencies you could nit-pick that might have changed the outcome, but the game goes on and life goes on. I hope when all the emotions settle that people will look at our boks' performance with a bit more grace and realise that you can't will the ball to bounce into your hands at all times. I'm beyond proud of our Boks and country and thankful to be alive to have witnessed one of the greatest teams do what they do best. Winning.

There are no videos showing the charge down was legit, there are only videos where SA fans try to tell you it was legit. The rule is that you cannot start your run off the line to the kicker until the kicker takes a step in the direction of the ball. It's that simple. It's clear that the run was started before any step was taken, the most ridiculous videos will try to convince you that the slight shift in the weight of the kickers feet before taking any step counts as a step, but it does not. That's not to say that South Africa are not worthy champions, but on that one point regarding the blocked kick I must disagree with you. I have no problems with South Africa's style, teams don't have to be flashy to win games. Rugby is about getting from one end to the other however you can within the rules of the game.

@@cigh7445 Nope. The rule says as soos as the player begins his kick, meaning moves, then the opposing side can charge down. Some players step forward straight away and kick, this no 10 started his kick by swaying and doing other stuff before stepping forward. And South African fans don't have to tell you the charge down was legit. The referee did that for us as well as the commentators, all who know their rules better than you mate.

So, the yellow card worked out in the end as it gave Etzebeth a breather for 10 minutes right in the middle of the game. This meant he could play to the final whistle without being subbed. He came back fresh after his rest to be at his best for the last 35 minutes and score the decisive try. Thanks TMO! What a legend

This was the play of the game for me 14:14. SA could have used a long pass option to left-wing with a dummy cover but decided to play smart secure rugby and give it their No.4. What a try under so much pressure!

Highlights don't do it justice, the energy and commitment throughout the entire game from both sides is next level.

this boks team plays incredible rugby in a lot of different styles very adaptable play

Hands down the greatest game I've ever got to watch live on TV. The level of intensity and skills from both sides was insanely next level. Both teams were winners on this day for the display of rugby we got to witness. France👏🏼 just Wow! there wouldn't of been any other team in the world that could of level up to the France on that day but South Africa.

This was the sweetest win in the World Cup! The arrogance of the French media…made all of this so much tastier. Funny how the flair of the French team only scored using their forwards and the unskilled Boks scored 3 of 4 tries from their backs. I’ll be back here every year to reminisce. Still celebrating 😄😄

9:05 is why the Springboks are the GOAT. All the European teams care about is the win rate. For us, it's about developing our players, taking our losses, learning from our mistakes, and winning when it really counts. Our losses have been arguably as important as our victories. We are the first team to abandon shame to leverage losses to navigate our course through both World Cups. The first and only team willing to utilize losing as a valid strategy to achieve victory. The first team willing to take an outside of the box approach with such great success. Who would think of using the bench as a tool! You can copy us or change the rules as much as you wish, but creativity is part of who we are, we'll just come up with something else.

Love them or hate them, the Springboks worked their arses off for every metre gained in every game ~

I'm late to this thread, but just to leave a small internet mark, I must say that this was the most amazing game of rugby I've seen in many, many years. The greatest world cup of them all! I hope to see something like this again before I leave this earth!

South Africa has been playing the best teams on their way to the final

The Springboks' finest WC hour. Rugby of the highest quality under utmost pressure.

Nearly 6 months later and this game is still breathtaking in every aspect, being a South African, here are my top moments...(1)Cheslin charges down to stop the conversion and then goes on to score a try, (2) Eben gets yellow carded, gets booed and comes back to score a try muscling 3 French players attempting to stop him and (3)Faf snatching the ball out of the hands of France's biggest and probably strongest player for the win in the last seconds...if this world cup did not show the rest of the world the special teamwork within this Springboks team then I don't know what will, every single player taking full responsibility upon their shoulders....Ox vs England, Pieter-Steph vs NZ in the final, Handre In the semis and the final, D Willemse throuought the tournament, Kwagga vs England, Deon F throughout the tournament, RG vs England, Mannie vs Scotland, Kurt Lee, Jesse K, Trevor, Bongi, etc...in the rugby field these guys could die for one another🔥🔥🔥...if this culture remains, no one can bet against them playing a 3rd world cup final in a row

this french team is boiling with talent and massive contenders for the next world cup in 2027

Both qfs were some of the best games ever played.

Bro losing to the Boks in RWC’s must be the worst experience for teams. They have 4 World Cups wins but only two tries. So you’re losing to a team that’s winning by capitalising on your mistakes via penalties and tough defence😂. You’re getting abused on defence and outplayed on offence. We got power and the boot🔥🔥🔥🔥

Quite possibly the best match I've ever seen. An instant classic!! And I've watched rugby for close to 30 years, mind you...

I could watch this every day for the rest of my life!

After this match, Eben Etzebeth had a new name: "Elizabedi." The rest is history. 😂😂❤

Before this match, I was fully ready to feel empathy for France if they lost, same as I did with Japan. But I was at the stadium and the way the French fans behaved both individually and collectively was so appalling that I’m glad they lost.

Extended highlights of a game 16 days late. Outstanding. Good job to the World Rugby media team.

As a South African this was the best match I watched in my life and yes I watched the 95 final

As a very avid bock supporter let me tell u this. France had an excellent team, the big difference and the only difference between France and South Africa is that the boks could always deliver on the day where it mattered, no other team in this tournament could. Thats precisely why South Africa became champs !!! Well done lads. But this game with France will go down as the greatest Rugby match that I have ever seen by a mile.

When I have a bad day, I always come to this game. It was tough for our Boys, but we made things happen 🎉🏉🇿🇦🇿🇦

I was luycky enough to watch this game as events unfolded. Never cared for France, but they were fierce to the end. South Africa is a monster team, best of the competition hands down. They deserved the world cup.

Cherry on the top was Mendoza after the wistle.

Best game at this World Cup by far, Ireland-NZ and Ireland-Bokke second and third. Few games that compare to it, certainly one of the greatest games of all time.

Manie kick was amazing

South Africa won by one point, the quarter final, the semi final and the final. This was the hardest world cup rugby. The Springboks deserve every accolades, including the bomb squad, the coaches and the men and women who were supporting the green and gold. They are worthy champions and to win it four times , they made history
