GBA version had collisions and it was borderline unplayable lol

Didn’t know these games had 4player split screen co-op. If Mania had this I'd be very much welcomed

There's normally only splitscreen competition mode. Co-op was done with cheats.

@@malimaui2802 It definitely is a lot of fun. It sounds like the new Banana Mania might have a mode similar to this, but it's still not completely clear exactly what it will look like.

This game did have competition mode, which allowed all 4 players to play together, but it only let you pick 5 stages at a time. The mode here is the same as single player, but I had to use a code to play it like this.

I think at the time, someone said something about how no one wants to pick Gongon, although Mark did end up choosing him for expert.

Can't wait for Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble to make this real. The four player co-op.

that stage alongside 1 other master stage is actually altered in competition mode by adding an extra platform to prevent that from happening

Sorry, but you're asking a little too much at once. If I could make a video from playing these games once, it would be easy enough, but I can't play a game for the first time and make a video. Maybe I can play Motor Raid sometime, but Power Stone 1 and 2 are a pretty low priority for me. As for an attract mode channel, aren't there already channels like that out there? Either way, I don't really want to start a new channel.

You can play with 3 players, you just select 3 player in the menu.

Is there any change needed? From what I'm seeing, if you just go to 2 player when selecting normal mode, it should only be 2 screens.

While the original game didn't have a splitscreen co-op mode, it did have a splitscreen competition mode, which is very similar to this. Couldn't say why the second game didn't have a competition mode like this one. Despite that, with cheats, I was also able to play the second game in co-op mode. Also, it sounds like Banana Mania will have co-op, although I don't know what that will look like.

Does Super Monkey Ball 2 have that mode?

While I think it would likely work on a real Gamecube, I never tried it. Do you mean Action Replay? I found information about Gameshark Game Saves for Gamecube, but not a regular cheat device like Action Replay.

@@arronmunroe Thanks a ton for the code! If you don't mind me asking, how did you come up with it? I looked at the addresses you modify in an attempt to learn more about the game, and I might be more confused than before... I'm very impressed. On a side note, I came up with some codes that improve the flow of multiplayer gameplay: Timer Freeze c2023908 00000001 38030000 00000000 Timer Loses a second on monkey reset c203aac4 00000003 3e60801f 62733a58 aa530004 3a32ffc4 b2330004 00000000 These codes allow for the timer to act as a shared pool of lives for all players.

@@c_o_m_e_t_ If I recall correctly, there is a value that is 00000000 for single player, 00000001 for competition mode and 00000002 for practice mode at a certain address. I just set a read breakpoint at that address before the game starts and in some cases, during gameplay. For example, if it reads 00000001 as you go through the goal, it will wait for the other players before going to the next stage, but for this video, it does the same thing as if it was reading 00000000, so it goes to the next stage right away like in single player. There may be a better more technical way of saying all of that, but I'm not the expert in this kind of thing.

040230EC 38000001 If you add this line to the code, it should wait to advance the stage. It is like competition mode where it still advances when 3 out of of the 4 players reach the goal, but I don't know if I could change it to wait for all 4 players. It still advances to the next stage whether or not any players reach the goal when time runs out.

In competition mode, there is a platform there so you don't keep falling when you die. That is the only mode where you can normally play multiplayer on that stage.

The original game does have competition mode, which lets all 4 players play at the same time. The main problem with it is you can only select up to 5 stages at a time, unlike here, where I went through the whole game. If that wasn't clear enough, yes, this is a mod.

If you're referring to 25:05, I'm not hearing a problem there. I would think if there actually was a problem with the sound in this video, the entire video would have that problem.

Yes. While this game does have a 4 player competition mode, it's a little different from normal mode, which is seen here.
