I'm glad you pointed this out to me before I did Super Monkey Ball Adventure, because I'd always thought that that game retconned things when it absolutely does not. Thanks though! Monkey Boat was the funniest thing ever when my buddies and I played it the first time. We were all so confused lmao

just got this game and this makes me really excited to explore all the levels and modes. this is also my first monkey ball game!

This really is the perfect game. Both racing party games are actually two of my favourites, and even though I think the mini golf in the first game worked better for this game I think standard golf is serviceable here. The only party game I'm not a fan of myself is the Soccer one but the rest are great in my opinion. Definitely keen for the remake!

This is really well made. Very informative and funny. You should see if there are any Super Monkey all groups on Discord/Facebook etc that you can advertise this to

My grandma gave me super monkey Ball 2 for the GameCube when I was 4 years old, I loved this game so much as a child and I still do to this day, I can't wait to get bananamania

In Banana Mania, the star power up in Monkey Race is now used as a quick boost like a mushroom from Mario, but shorter and faster. WAY better than the chaos that old Star could cause.

Lol, somebody sucks really hard at Monkey Race 2. I’ve played Super Monkey Ball 2 for long over a decade and have never had too much trouble doing well in Monkey Race 2. That aside though, this was a great review and I pretty much agree with everything else you said about Super Monkey Ball 2.

I liked this game a lot but the one thing I find myself preferring the original for is the level design. It just prefer the greater emphasis on precision in that game, which I found was much more fun than 2's emphasis on chaotic moving parts. A lot of levels in 2 feel to me more like showcases than they do actual stages, to be honest. And for your comment on race mode: the physics feel weird because they're different from the base game's. Most notably, is there's lack of air control and the different acceleration mechanics are a lot more slippery.

If you hit someone with the polygon ball and then they use the giant ball, they’ll start bouncing higher and higher until they shrink or the polygon runs out Speaking of bugs my younger bro accidentally found that in the battery map in Monkey Dogfight, if you aim downward in the grooves at the bottom of the map and hold the speed boost button you’ll eventually clip out of the map

oh yeab but in the monkey ball 2 engine, the moving parts start immediately instead of after brian matt saying "ready"

Thank you very much! I use Vegas although a lot of videos edited by my friend Will (like this one) use Adobe Premiere instead.

At 14:24 the background music smoothly transitioned from the Beginner to the Expert racetrack theme, which I've never heard before. Did you do that while editing or is it part of an official soundtrack? Anyway, good stuff here, I enjoyed it all the way through!

Editor here! Yes, that was done in the audio editing phase. I spent a long time editing just the audio before starting on the video side of things, and one challenging part is getting the music to transition in a cohesive way with the dialogue to keep things fresh. There is a lot of automation going on behind the scenes to keep everything audible as well. I'm happy you caught that! All music here is ripped directly from the game and don't have define endings, so I kind of have to improvise with a variety of effects. Glad you enjoyed it. :)

It looks great to me! Hard to know how the physics are without playing but they seem to be nailing every other aspect. Super excited.

If Banana Mania's Monkey Dogfight doesn't have Multiplayer AND 8 player games then i'll be very dissapointed

It's a great game but I prefer the purity of the first game. The story mode and the switches in some of the levels just feel a bit unnecessary. Still love it though.

Deluxe doesn't warrant as in depth of a look but it is historically significant as well as being a technical oddity so it definitely warrants a look imo
