This show was better than who wants to be a Millionaire

The early 2000s had the best game shows. I really like the format where you’re all opponents but you have to play as a team.

I loved Greed...even more than Millionaire. One of my all-time favorite eps. too. THanks so much!

Me too I was disappointed it didn't get a second season, I heard that when it was on it won it's timeslot on Fridays. There was even talk about a PC game but it never happened .

Favorite game show when I was 7 years old, and I wish this game show would've continue many years ago with that music background.

Here is my review of this episode: this is THE BEST, most DRAMATIC episode EVER of Greed! Well, i don't know about "ever" being that i have yet to see every episode of Greed but this was a pretty epic episode if I don't say so myself! Going back to my Greed memories as a child, I don't remember the Kathy, Brian, Jon, Dennis, and Rachel team but i remember there being a Terminator Question about that tongue twister during which Kathi rung in and called out: "a peck!" which was right. Also, I loved the $200K question they got as that answer "Beauty School Dropout" always remained in my head as i would often sing it to myself lol! The last time i got to see this episode until 2019 was back in 2011/2012 when Michael Tiller of the Game Show Temple had this posted but sadly his game show collection was destroyed as far as i can recall. Up until now, I remember John, Lisa, and Jeffrey but I forgot what Andrew and Andrea looked like! As for the Jeffrey vs. Andrew Terminator match, I remember the "Sweet 'N Low" answer as it reminds me of the $500K question in the Tournament of Losers episode but forgot who Jeffrey took out. John, Lisa, and Jeffrey were one of the best group of players this show has ever had. Also, the Jeffrey vs. John Terminator match had the BIGGEST stakes of ANY Greed Terminator match, EVER with a $1,600,000 share up for grabs!!! Now I clearly remember the epic buzz-in from John and he calls out "cow" which wins him that share! Now for the $2,000,000 question... in an interesting way, I'm glad that only John and Lisa remained. Why? Because in the 11 November 1999 episode, there was Curtis, Melissa, and Dan at the $1,000,000 question. On that team the $50,000 and $25,000 seats are empty. Curtis was in the $100,000 seat and Melissa in the $75,000 seat. But in this episode, I like how John is still the captain throughout the whole game and Lisa stays in her $50,000 seat because it's interesting to think what if it was just Dan and Jackie at the $1,000,000 question and Curtis, Melissa, and James were all taken out in Terminator matches? If I were to appear as a contestant on Greed, I'd love to be in the $50,000 seat. 26:26 Even though I clearly remember the first Terminator match that John was challenged to, and him calling "Shania Twain" but I don't remember it being that dramatic! 31:28 It irks me that at the end of the $500k music, they switched to the $200k music! The $500k music is better and more epic and dramatic than $200k! That wasn't even a $200k question lol Oh and by the way, 41:15 is probably the only time the "high wrong" sound with the blood red color when Mac Introduced was revealed to be wrong didn't scare me when I watched this as a child. Thanks again for the memories, WWTBAMclassics. This is almost like reliving my childhood.

Greed's qualifying question was eliminated beginning with the 4/28/2000 episode, and this continued until the final episode on 7/14/2000. A few episodes aired in June 2000 that still featured the qualifying question, but those episodes aired out of order and the special with the $0 winners was ironically the first episode aired without the qualifying question. 11 of the show's 44 episodes didn't have the qualifying round.

But Dennis Frazier (rip) confirmed on his Facebook that his show taped on April 15, 2000. Not only that but in the College Greed episode (the first show since the episode that aired on April 25 to have the Qualifying Question according to the order the episodes aired in) the first Qualifying Question asked by Chuck if you watch the episode was, and I quote Chuck exactly, "According to a poll published in the *MAY 1, 2000* issue of Newsweek, what percent of Americans believe that God performs miracles?" Which obviously means that the College episode could not have possibly been taped prior to May 1, 2000 and had to have been taped DURING the month of May. Not to mention you kept raving on about how Greed was cancelled due to indemnity and insurance issues due to the high payouts until I finally shut you up with proof that Bob Boden confirming otherwise.

Dude. $4 MILLION! That, at the time, was the BIGGEST amount ever offered in game show history. This episode was great.

I think here is how the Tower of Greed should've went in my honest opinion: 1. $25,000 2. $50,000 3. $75,000 4. $100,000 5. $125,000 6. $250,000 7. $500,000 8. $1,000,000 9. $2,000,000 10. $4,000,000 The Terminator and the 4-answer questions would come into play after Question Five.

This sounds like an interesting idea. You should start the 4 answer questions starting at question 7, because at 6, you could wittle down the team to one person before reaching the last question

I think it should have gone like this 1. 25k 2. 50k 3. 75k 4. 100k 5. 200k 6. 500k 7. 1.5m 8. 4m Offering more than double from the 5th question with multiple answers will motivate players to move on instead of pocketing the money, and for sure this what the audience wants to watch.

Greed always keeps their least confident answer for last *or* the wrong answer for last, and since John changed one but they kept Mac for the last reveal, you could guess it was incorrect.

They always reveal all correct answers before incorrect so when they get at least three they have the opportunity to accept the buyout which is always 1/10th of the next prize level. If more than one wrong, no opportunity to accept.

Guaranteed "Mac" would have been eliminated by the freebie if it was available and used. That choice was the farthest away from when MTV was introduced. That's why Chuck immediately said the answer was wrong after John and Lisa took the car bailout, he knows on his card what answer the freebie is.

It is Dennis Fraser, a software engineer from Dallas, Texas in art sales, and he's really good at keeping it secret.

We sure loved Greed with host Chuck Woolery on Fox, and what we saw on Super Greed at 40:51 is where Lisa and John did go for the "car" and $75,000, as "Mac introduced" was the wrong choice for one of four happened before the debut of MTV. And this was why, it was one of our all-time favorite episodes seen from this original 2000 broadcast. Thanks so much for this original airing!

For me this was one of the most memorable events of the shows entire run, particular Lisa saying "I'm going for the car, Chuck," and that sound that played when the red light showed up on her podium with the word "CAR" on it.

Macintosh was 1984. They don't remember the memorable commercial : 1984 (the year) won't be like '1984' (the novel by George Orwell). I believe MTV was '81??

We had a British Version of Greed it was hosted by Jerry Springer and the top prize was £1,000,000 in British Money

Funny how the Universe gave the episode AFTER the one i asked for, felt bad about it, THEN gave me the episode i asked for twice. I gave my VHS tape of THIS to a friend and left it recording to Penny Crone's Piece on NYC auditions for GREED; They didn't get to interview her BUT Penny reported she saw the lady that did so well at the audition that she was on the Next Super Greed- which is the one @WWTBAM Classics uploaded- she bailed out George's team about the Foods that were introduced before 1950.

Are you referring to Elizabeth Vukayavich the original captain on George's team in the second Super Greed episode? If so, she didn't bail out. She challenged George to a Terminator match and lost, and so George replaced her as captain if that's what you meant. Or did you mean Liz Ostow?

I don't know about high-quality, but I'm sure there are others with more episodes that aren't already up here in decent picture quality. TBH, i think the only way to get HQ episodes if if you get them from the TV stations directly. For example, Taylor Humphries, who appeared in the July 7 episode uploaded his appearance about 2 years ago. It's logo-free in high-quality because though i could possibly be wrong but i'm pretty sure he got it from Fox directly or someone who works in television.

The FOX television network got a new president, Gail Berman, who took over in the summer of 2000. She had Greed cancelled because she wasn't a big fan of game shows and wanted the network to focus more on "scripted" dramas.

can someone explain how they determined there total winnings? They said 190k and 230k. Was it 200k/2= 100k each (guaranteed winnings) plus +150 (250k) not sure how the ladies winnings was calculated? I thought he would totally go for it because he was playing for 1.6 million.

Amazing that Lisa lost almost nothing in going for the Car on the seventh question.

I swear, these people had never left the house before. Their social skills. Yeesh.

If you're dependable stock is called a cow chip, then your stock is literally crap.

Was curious as to where some of the contestants are now. Jeffrey Russell Gouda (the good looking guy on the second team) has run into some legal problems as of late -- Google his name and you'll see his Florida prison arrest record and mug shot (!) The second team captain, John Epperson (according to imdb.com) has been a drag artist since the early 1980s and has his own Wikipedia page. I wasn't sure if this was the same "John Epperson" but according to imdb.com, it is. John's job title of "inspector" is never explained here. When I saw the episode I assume that referred to his actual job title (perhaps relating to a high ranking position with a municipal police force) but maybe it's an in-joke that I'm not getting at all... I agree that this was probably my favourite episode of the ones I had seen way back during the original airing. I (think) that this was the only time the two person split screen was used with John and Lisa here - the only other team that went this far in the series was captained by Dan Avila, and they went from a team of 3 to Dan himself.

I don't think that's the same John Epperson. I remember a few years or so ago, I looked around to see if the drag queen John Epperson was the same guy shown in the Super Greed premiere and I saw a video of John out of drag and it clearly wasn't him.

@@hiltonlive32grnrngr I didn't think so either at first, but according to www.imdb.com/name/nm0258368/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1 , it's the same John Epperson (he's credited there as appearing as himself in this 2000 episode of Greed). John here also looks to be in his mid 40s, so the age appears consistent with the DOB mentioned in the imdb profile. I've only looked at the photos in the imdb profile, but the ears and nose also look very similar imo.

I knew that Macintosh was Wrong. MTV: 1981!!! Macintosh:1984!!! I could’ve won $2mil.

I really thought that Macintosh when I first played this question in my head , it was early 80's before MTV, I knew those that changing post it notes was a bad move, I was thinking MTV was 82 and Macintosh was 81, but shows what little I know. It's why I stick with Wheel Of Fortune or luck based games. I knew the Grease Question earlier in this episode, and Grease is really the only musical I can stand.

Lisa looked pissed that John changed her answer. She walked off the set a happy woman in the end but she seemed like she was confident that Post-Its was a correct answer, which she confirmed at 38:34 with that death stare and at 40:45 with that heavy breath.

What's interesting is that when it was all over, John and Lisa met at the middle of the set/stage and hugged, during which time John apologized to her for changing her CORRECT answer to what WAS another correct answer but he changed the wrong answer. Also, I don't know if John and Lisa picked up on this but if you've seen enough episodes to notice, Greed usually reveal all the right answers first and the show the wrong answer(s) last. Also, they usually show changed answers last to raise suspense but since that wasn't the case this time and that Mac Introduced was the second answer chosen John and Lisa probably suspected it was wrong and decided to take the car keys and drive out of there.

Lisa knew the car was the best case scenario for her as soon as John changed her answer, so none of the gameplay psychology of which answer is revealed last mattered to her. She didn't have to suspect anything, she KNEW post-its was right and therefore also knew one of the four answers picked by the team had to be wrong, and since three were already correct then that leaves Mac as wrong. John might have picked up on what you're saying. Also, going on strict probability it's a 1/5 shot that Mac is correct so it wasn't worth the gamble unless he was 1000% sure of it.

I think what fooled John was the fact that the Apple Company founded by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak was in 1976 (obv before MTV) and the Apple 1 computer but the Mac was 1984.

Why didnt anybody ever take on Lisa on the terminator? She didnt strike me as all that great a player.

Wrong. The Qualifying Question was eliminated for the five-episode Super Greed run. After that, the QQ was temporarily revived beginning with the College Rivalry episode, and i use the word "temporarily" because beginning with the June 16 episode, the QQ would be discontinued for the rest of the series.

Actually just because an answer was changed doesn't mean they show it last. The producers usually show the right or obviously-right answers first and then reveal the wrong answer (if there is one) last.

Near end of the video, the 4th answer was wrong answer at the end even know these team made right decision. Mac introduced was after MTV network debuted.

This episode had to have been the only time in my childhood (i was 9 when this episode aired on Fox) when the creepy blood red color on Mac Introduced and the high wrong sound didn't scare me.

Why would you stop if you're the first team when you still had the freebie there's six possible answers four of which are going to be right two of them are obviously wrong and you can eliminate one of them I don't get it

Number one it gets irritating when i find comments on these Greed videos complaining about a team stopping at $200k when they still have a freebie and my answer is always the same: the captain doesn't want to risk losing what they've got. Besides you kind of answered your own question when you pointed out two of the four given answers could be wrong and that's happened before on Greed, the beginning of the March 31 episode for example. Once a team misses a question, they're done. They lose everything. I too prefer teams to advance to the $500k level (or $1m in this case) but you have to understand some captains aren't brave enough to take that kind of risk.

They should've made Super Greed the normal Greed.

Not that I disliked the Super Greed format but I'm personally glad Super Greed was only temporary. I think it worked better as a temporary thing as opposed to it being a regular format. As Fox created Greed to rival ABC's WWTBAM, Greed offered a $2 million top prize whereas WWTBAM offered $1 million so the $2 million jackpot is kind of "super" enough as is. I like how the last five episodes didn't use the Qualifying Question just like the 5 Super Greed episodes also didn't use it though.

Does he say they determined the players' positions by a lot? If yes, what does he mean by that? If no, what does he say?

A few former contestants confirmed this but "by lot" Chuck means that instead of the Qualifying round they have five people draw ping pong balls from a coffee can and the balls they draw determines each player's position.

"Greed" focused too much on the top prize and forgot the other things such as the tension and the drama. This show is not the reason why primetime U.S. Millionaire was cancelled and carried over to syndication. Greed's effort is similar to what SDCK (Sawaal Dus Crore Ka; The Ten-Crore Question) unsuccessfully did to compete with KBC (Kaun Banega Crorepati) in India...

Title says best greed episode, I disagree. The Dan, Curtis, & Melissa million dollar win is better than this. The team on here that won a million gambled $800K & got back $310000. Losing $490000 worse than $468000 of you guess wrong at million dollar ? On millionaire. We all know what happened the next episode which trumped this episode.

On the television 📺 game show Super Greed, the qualifying question 🙋‍♂️ was eliminated, & the values for the last 3 questions 🙋‍♂️ were doubled. $500,000 is now $1,000,000, $1,000,000 is now $2,000,000, & $2,000,000 is now a whopping $4,000,000!
